Whenever I've watched Sanchez I've always found him rather frustrating but that could be just the way he's been set up at Barca.

Considering that we were looking at Konoplyanka for similar money, then it absolutely makes better sense to go for Alexis Sanchez if he's available. That means that whenever Sturridge, Suarez or Sterling are crocked or need a rest, then Sanchez can be rotated in.

If we were to get Sanchez i think he would be a starter. He's done very well for Barca this season but he is even better with Chile. He destroyed England in a friendly.

I've been long saying that the tiki taka style of football isn't going to get the best out of him. Look up any highlights of his Udinese days, and especially his goals on the counter attack whether centrally or out wide, then picture him doing similar in our attack with the players available and hopefully added to. Oh how I miss betting on that Udinese team a couple of seasons ago now.

Oh and I would have Ashley Cole in a heartbeat. You don't go from being the best left back in the world to fit for the garbage heap in less than 2 years. I think he was unlucky last year insofar as he was injured for a bit and seemed to struggle for fitness. I think with a rest this Summer, a new club and the right motivation, you might be able to light a fire under him for the next 2 years. Hopefully Rodgers will be on a friendly basis with him from his Chelsea days to seal the move.

It's hard to compare him as he's playing in another league, but on the basis of form, I'd have Sterling, Suarez and Sturridge all ahead of him. Considering we have 50-60 games to play next season, he will get chances and if he wants to nail down a spot in the first 11, he will get a lot of chances.

Ronaldinho springs to mind, albeit in different circumstances.

He's 33 and he'll want to get paid like he's still 30. I dunno what I want, with regards to him signing, tbh.

Well take a look at his former team mate Mr. Torres ;)

Am I the only one thinking the last Cole we got from Chelsea on a free was a high paid waste of money that would have been better spent on someone else.

I just can't help getting that feeling about Ashley Cole as well.

The last thing we need is two over paid and past their prime full backs.

I reckon Ashley Cole would be a great signing for the left back spot. Also reckon Winston Reid and Dejan Lovren would be good centre back signings

As for midfielders I think Milner would be a good addition but if Fabregas is available then Liverpool should go all out for him. Lallana is another that would be a good signing while Sanchez is not a player that I'm overly excited by

    Reid? Keep aiming high

Alexis Sanchez would be an absolutely huge signing, one of the biggest transfers in the history of the club.

The first point is where you and I would disagree fundamentally. I'm not claiming to be right and you wrong, but its a fundamental difference of opinion on this. I'd believe being a football fan is about being part of something more than being simply entertained.

My general point is that you can't tell people why they should like something. If it's because you like good football (why I liked Barca under Pep and now amn't bothered about them), all your friends like them, because you think Stevie has a nice arse or because there's a sort of visceral need to support them that comes with obsessively following a team over a period of decades - honestly no reason is better than any other for something that is inherently daft and trivial like following sport is.

All you can ask of people is that they're honest. If they're not being honest then they deserve some ****.

Winston Reid is a good centre half

Ronaldinho isn't a fair comparison at all. By the time he finished at Barcelona he was washed up and only really bothered 50% of the time. The Torres situation was just a perfect storm of injuries, a club that didn't suit him, a collapse in confidence and other things.

If you're going to compare Cole to anyone, I would be looking at other full backs. Javier Zanetti played up until he was 40 for Inter Milan. In my opinion, as much as I think Cole is a bit of a prat, he has generally been a model professional who hasn't suffered any debilitating injuries. I could easily see him going on for another 2-3 years in the Premier League.

There is an article in the local Southampton paper that suggests they will wait to see if they can resolve Pochettinos future before selling any players. It would obviously be more difficult to see him signing a contract extension if many of his best players are sold.

I guess this means the Lallana and Lovren deals won't be happening any time soon.

Its going to be a long window.

Im confident cole would be a good addition. Hes still a very good player, exactly the type of full back we need, can defend as well as any full back and is a great threat going forward. Would instill a bit of confidence, experience and leadership into our back line and could be a great player to learn from for our younger defenders. Signing him on a two year deal would be great business even if we had to give him 100k a week, though id imagine he could be got for less.

However i seem to remember the echo reporting we had no interest in him and theyre about the only reliable source when it comes to transfer rumours so i wont be hopeful of anything materialising.

    He
Ashley Cole at left back would allow Flanagan to revert to right back. Cole would be a great signing.

A super signing, he is still a top class player. I forgot Rodgers would know him from his Chelsea days, could be a big factor. I'd love Sagna too.

Barcelona have ruined Sanchez and he still is pretty class for them.

A post of mine from a day or two ago.

I'm pretty sure that it would be an unbelievable signing.
Imagine Sanchez playing with some freedom like he would under Rodgers smile.pngsmile.png

As Rodgers always says, he likes players to express themselves. Sanchez doesn't really get that opportunity at Barca. He would be a different beast altogether if he came to Liverpool. He would suit us and we would suit him.

Think he is on about 90k a week so nothing to crazy.

Anyways, I won't be getting my hopes up.

I'm sorry but this YaYa fiasco is just way beyond bizarre for me.

Did you hear his agents interview and read YaYa tweets (now deleted by the way) it's utterly bizarre.

I've already checked twice to see if it's April 1st.

Liverpool's Official page needs to wish Yaya Happy Birthday immediately.
