Saving CrossEPG to the HDD will also have solved your issues too

anyone have an idea ? I want to have a cccam and on Enigma2

you use seperate plugins and firmware etc for enigma 2 and spark

and have ftp your details for oscam to work on e2

if u get spark working well your not to bad

setting up enigma2 is complicated enough for people starting up

When in spark you can press EPG button on remote then press f1 key on remote then download the epg and force a reload
I think your not supposed to save to the system memory
you should have a drive connected and in the epg config pick where you want to store the files like HDD

CrossEPG settings setup is set to 'internal flash (unsuggested)' that's what it says. It will not give me a option to change it to HDD. I have a external HDD drive connected. Is my EPG using my internal flash as storage and if so how do I change it because to me this is not good.

I'd say it's not formatted properly yet.I formatted mine to ext4 and then it recognised it on the box straight away

It's a bit of a pain to format it to ext4 but you only need do it once

has anyone modded their box yet? i have the aa2+ but it only has 2 usb ports. one on the front and the other on the back. the problem is that when you try to use a hub on the back there isn't enough power coming from the port to support a hard drive and a wifi stick. i was thinking of taken the front one out and connecting the wifi to it, but have it hidden inside of the box.
has anyone tried this? plus what was the results.
    thank you

I'd imagine it would be fairly easy to do but the wifi might suffer a little. You won't know until you try I guess. You could even try put the hard drive inside! Might not be practical though.

You should only use a powered Usb hub when you connect devices needing power (any device, pc, laptop or satbox), a Usb port only supplies 500mA. Also, both front and back Usb ports are on the same rail so share this power. Adding a wifi dongle inside the metal case is madness as the case will block the signal, dongles have a very small antenna

the back port looks to be solder onto the board it's self, and the front looks to be on a ribbon cable connected to the center, are you saying they share the same power?
i don't think thats true, i've had both my hd and wifi working on these ports at the same time on my last image. my current image is a fail and and i'm going back to HDMU
but thats a good point about the antenna, i could drill a hole in the rear panel and have the antenna poking out, or install a hd inside or both. i could use a wifi cable and solder it to the wifi card and just have the female poking out of the rear panel.

but i'd love to know if anyone has done this, i'm sure theres a spare 12v solder point somewhere on the board

Or just plug in a LAN cable and save yourself the hassle.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,837 ✭✭✭same ol sh1te

Never mind how the interface connects, Usb is a rail on any motherboard and I very much doubt it's dual rail so yes they will share power

TBH, why bother modifying the box, just modify your house with some cat5 cable. Wireless should be just for mobility. Having other devices connected to your wifi router can have drastic effects on speed as your router will only communicate with one device at a time, in one direction at a time. Therefore wireless should be just for devices that need mobility, laptops, phones etc, everything static like desktops, consoles and satboxes should be cabled.

Yeah a set of powerline adapters would be alot easier to set up.

i have a lan cable in it. but i want to clean the cables up, plus the lan cable is for my pc or at lest that why i ran it down for when i was doing the walls.

    plus modding is fun :)

i've read on here that using wifi with these boxes is a bad move, i haven't found that at all. i see no performance difference from wifi to lan with these boxes, now maybe people have a poor wifi setup to begin with. but testing it with live streams the wifi holds up

I got this sorted out yesterday evening. By removing my external harddrive and my CrossEPG in settings recognised it. Then this morning powered on box and CrossEPG settings is back to 'internal flash' and it does not give me the option to switch. My samsung harddrive is formatted to ext3. Please can somebody enlighten me as my internal is almost full. Is my best bet to format to ext4.

I'd be looking to modify a hdd into the case, it would be great if these came with a sata adapter on the board

    Are you running Hyperion 4?

If so press the Blue home button and go to HDD and mount on SDA 5, (that's what mines on), then go down to automount and enable that and save all. Then your HDD should be mounted and you can set your EPG to save to it. Mine is formatted to EXT3.

more cables? what am i BORG or something?

Yes you are on E2, but there has to be a name to the image. Did you get the image from here? Freshpots,Champs, Same_Ols?????

It should recognise your HDD so if it's seeing your sda1. When you hit save does it clear ok or does it say there's an issue?

    Mount on /media/hdd - sda1 465GB
    Mount on /media/hdd/movie - sda1 465GB
Enable swap on receiver startup - yes
