    How do,
Mate's stag in a few weeks so organising it for Galway. There'll be 20 of us, aged 28-33 all from Dublin. No messers in the bunch at all. Ideally, we would want to do a pub crawl. Pub golf is the idea mentioned so everyone will be kitted out in golfing attire. Have we a hope of getting in anywhere like this? I'm planning a 9-hole course so 9 bars over the course of the day, strictly limited to 1 drink/bar. We're not scumbags but I can see the predicament 20 people can find themselves in, trying to get all of us into a bar. the crawl will start early (2ish). Would it be better to count our losses, forget about the golf, and focus on just getting everyone into anywhere? Do bouncers operate on all main bars from an early time?

Maybe you could try plan the pubs before hand, and call them to check if they'll be ok with your group?

Bouncers dont generally start in the main pubs until around nine, some pubs wont welcome large groups of stags in general let alone in costume. Plenty of places will though and as its during the day there wont be as much hassle for ye.

Wondering does the bank holiday matter?

If you're a stag expect to pay a behaviour bond. If you're well behaved they are all cheap enough.

See www.hostelworld.com for reviews and prices. But you'll have to ring up to book.

Travelodge on the Tuam Rd is consistently the cheapest hotel, 20 minute walk from town.

If any stags/hens are looking for help in Galway, drop me a message and I can help you out/take care of you. Sorry if this counts as advertising my wares or anything!

    Hi all

Wondering if I would have to book/reserve a bar or two in advance for a stag party soon in Galway and where perhaps? Would we be able to go into most places dressed up and all or is it frowned upon and limited to just a few places? Thanks

    Tim

I've moved this to the Galway City forum because you're more likely to get replies here.

    Moved from Food & Drink.

You can rooms in a lot of bars, and most places will take stag parties these days, behaviour rather than dress is key.

What sort of night out are you looking for?

Tomo, I've added your question to a big thread we have with lots of recommendations. Have a read and welcome to Galway for a stag :)

    Hi

Thanks. Yeah we are staying on Eyre Square so was thinking maybe the coyote bar just for ease of access/convenience and all that. We only want to dress up for a few hours then get changed and head out again. (There's 16 of us and we'll be well behaved!) Do they allow the dress-up thing there and other bars close by? Thanks again

    Tom

They do allow dressing up for stags and hens, to a point, in Quays etc Don't know about Coyote's.
It's usually not a big issue but smaller local people pubs usually don't like it. There's plenty of places around, just walk around Shop street and you'll find somewhere.

Hen in galway - going to the dogs - but what to do after - should we stay till it closes? or will it be too late to get in anywhere then?

    Greatfull for advice!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81,220 ✭✭✭✭biko

They close about midnight I think? There's still plenty clubs open then.
Just make your way up to Shop Street (15 min walk) and you'll see people handing out flyers for the nightclubs.

I'm heading up to a stag in Galway the weekend of November 8th.

Now, already have accommadation sorted (good deal in the stag-friendly and centrally placed Imperial Hotel) and am fairly acquainted with Galway City, but could any locals draw up an "itinery" that they would follow if they were having a seesion in the city. Looking to exploring the wares on offer on the Friday night, going to PureSkill on the Saturday afternoon, and pretty much repeating Friday night's activites from Saturday evening onwards.

Requesting that itinery for pure research purposes as everyone knows that the best guage for a decent drinking establishment are the one's frequented by locals.

Possibly a weird question and forgive my ignorance but are shoes a requirement in Galway nightclubs these days or will I get away with my retro adidas/cons? It's been about 10 years since I last visited and now that I'm a foreigner I kinda want to travel light.

I am trying to organise a stag in Galway for about 10 to 15 lads for the 5th of July, any recommendations for places to stay? It looks like a lot of places are booked out already for some reason

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81,220 ✭✭✭✭biko

Did you already read through this thread and try some of the places suggested?
Jury's Inn is usually best as it's on the main street.

Btw, I closed the dupe post.

Most places won't allow on-line booking for groups.

Phone then, and don't be surpirsed when they ask you to lodge a hefty security deposit - which you will get back if everyone in your group behaves.

I used the imperial for a stag, perfect hotel for a group of lads. They asked for my credit card number as a deposit. All was fine though,

    Hi folks,

Looking for some advice on a stag weekend

    - Have accomodation sorted in the city centre
    - Have an activity (pureskill) for the Saturday

Now comes the important stuff ;-)

    - I have heard bad things about the strip club but if anyone wants to contradict this I am happy to get your opinions

    - Are there any pubs that would allow a stripper to come to the pub? Would you need to book a function room for this? Can't say I have any experience of hiring strippers!

    - Is there a decent casino in Galway? I see a few from searching on google but must appear to be more poker clubs. Would ideally be somewhere we could have a few drinks and play some blackjack / roulette (nothing too serious!)

    Thanks for your help

    1. No idea
    2. No idea
    3. I've been to the Eglinton and Four Aces casinos, and both had a bar, roulette and blackjack tables, it certainly wasn't all poker. I'm sure more regular attendees may recommend one for you, but both seem to tick all the boxes you're looking for.

Cheers, neither of their websites were overly detailed regarding their casinos!

    Hey
Just wondering could anyone recommend a good place to stay in Galway that accepts hen parties. There's approx 30 of us going. We would be a roudy bunch. Oh and also a good restaurant. Thanks a million.

Check out the House Hotel, they cater for large hen parties. http://www.thehousehotel.ie/

Organising a hen party in Galway and trying to figure out where to go after dinner on the Saturday night. Its a small enough hen party with none of the usual hen party tack and awfulness. We just want to go somewhere with good music and kind of something that will suit everyone. As an absolute hater of nightclubs, I am probably the worst person to figure this out but...!

I've had recommendations for Halo and for Electric Garden? Are these in any way decent? One better than the other? Thanks!

Looking for a good pub for about 30-40 lads to stick together Saturday afternoon. We were hoping to get some finger food sorted out also.
    Any recommendations?

Afternoon? Guessing a lot of places will be busyish with people watching various matches and racing, I'd try calling Fibber Mcgees, King's Head, Front Door, Dail bar and Monroes. All should have the space and all should be able to arrange finger food for you all. Call ahead and maybe you'll be able to swing a deal on the food..

I've done this with them on the Lakes of Killarney. Some of those travelling wouldn't be interested in this. It is quite draining on the body and one or two mightn't fit in the Kayak, at least comfortably(not even imagining the dry suit). I'd hate to pick something that would exclude anyone.

PureSkill it is then. The fatties might not enjoy that either though.

Asking this for a friend, is there any venue(private area of some sorts?) that would allow a hen party to record a music video? Anytime after 3pm
