    ^^^ Cringe central.

Can someone pick out the mistakes from Sakho that have led to goals? It's been pointed out numerous times that his passing is top notch and he rarely loses possession. Just because he looks unorthodox doesn't mean he's shaky. No doubt in my mind, he'll be a top CB in the PL in the future.

Sakho has been pretty solid but he seems to have one slightly wobbly moment each game which has generally been blown out of proportion. He actually very rarely gives the ball away.

The thing about our centre-halves is they are often left exposed as the full-backs are pushed well forward and sometimes there is nobody covering in front of them. Look at Palace's 3rd goal last week. Palace had time to pick out a pass to the striker's chest with nobody near either player. Where were the midfield?

If you play centre-half for Chelsea against a decent side you might have 2 full-backs tucked right beside you on either side. Lot easier to look good as a centre-half with cover like that around you.

With Agger, Skrtel, Toure, Sakho as 1st teamers and Ilori, Wisdom possibly Kelly coming through there is no way we will be getting in a CB without shifting one possibly 2 CBs.

I'd be hoping our defense might be tightened up with a tweak to the system we play rather than a personnel problem, but I'd Imagine BR would have seen it and made the change to the system by now.

I don't think you can really point to one thing.

    - Gerrard isn't as solid as a younger, dedicated DM, like Lucas circa 2010 or Masch (of course that's not to say that he's played poorly or that he doesn't deserve to be first choice in that spot next season).
    - Our midfielders with legs tend to play aggressively in the opponents half, leaving the back 5 exposed if we lose the ball.
    - Our full backs are aggressive (Flannagan less so) and leave our CBs exposed if we lose the ball.
    - Our full backs aren't very good (or the cover for them isn't very good and they're injured a lot).
    - Our keeper is still relatively young and has shown himself to be prone to the odd cock-up.
    - Our best 2 CBs can be erratic and reckless without the ball. With the ball they're usually grand. The backup is also erratic and poor on the ball in the case of Toure and weak in the case of Agger.

looks like were going for Lallana & now not after Konoplyanka:(

    http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-fc-make-deal-southampton-7100087
Rodgers is a big admirer of the England international and hasn’t been put off by talk of £20million transfer fee

Liverpool FC will make a move to sign Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana following the end of the season. Brendan Rodgers is a big admirer of the England international and hasn’t been put off by talk of a £20million transfer fee.
The manager believes Lallana would be the perfect addition to the Reds’ array of attacking firepower and is hoping a deal can be struck.
Liverpool have yet to make an approach to Saints but they are ready to move quickly when the transfer window opens in order to fend off interest from rival clubs.
Lallana, who turns 26 today, has scored 10 goals and contributed six assists for Saints this season.
His progress was rewarded with a first England cap against Chile last November and he looks certain to make Roy Hodgson’s World Cup squad when it's announced on Monday.
While the Reds prepare to step up their pursuit of Lallana, they have cooled their interest in winger Yevhen Konoplyanka.

Liverpool were close to landing the Ukraine international for £12.2million on deadline day in January but the transfer collaposed when Dnipro’s multi-billionaire owner Ihor Kolomoyskyi refused to sign the relevant paperwork.
The Reds had been expected to go back in for Konoplyanka this summer but the ECHO understands they are now looking at alternative targets.
Qualifying for the Champions League means Liverpool believe they will be able to attract a higher calibre of talent.
St Albans-born Lallana started out at Bournemouth's Centre of Excellent before being snapped up by Southampton at the age of 12.
He made his first-team debut against Yeovil Town in the League Cup in August 2006 and had a spell on loan at Bournemouth in 2007/08 before establishing himself as a Saints regular the following campaign.
He helped Southampton claim back to back promotions as he was named in the League One team of the year in 2010/11 and the Championship team of the year in 2011/12. He scored 13 goals as they booked their passage to the Premier League.
A fine season was rewarded in April 2013 when he penned a new five-year contract and this season he has taken his game to another level.
Voted Southampton's Player of the Year, he was also shortlisted for the PFA Player of the Year award and was named alongside clubmate Luke Shaw in the PFA Team of the Year.

I haven't posted about soccer here out of shame from the time OPR ripped me a new one over my view that Barca should have kept Zlatan. Always stopped to read his posts.
If we lose greyditch and Kess too ill go postal, not proper postal but maybe something like this.

    Me: Gavred howve you been

    Gavred: Ive been

    *bang bang bang!

Me: Great, im back and youve got paint on your jersey :pac:

Hopefully it's not just Lallana by himself for attacking buys this Summer. We need Lallana plus one other whether it be Konoplyanka, Griezmann, etc.

Okay so here goes. All this season I've been telling my friends who don't follow football closely about how insane it would be if Liverpool managed to win the title (explaining the significance of it having not won the league for 24 years, the role of Gerrard, the strength of other opponents).
But, I've also been telling them about how worried I was that it was mirroring The Dark Knight Rises. Throughout this whole season I have had that image of Bane in my head where he's telling a crippled Bruce Wayne "There can be no true despair without hope". What if this whole title charge was our hope before the despair? So on Monday night, as you could imagine, I was sat feeling like Bruce Wayne watching Bane torture Gotham. It was a perfect metaphor of the stadium pitch crumbling. This was it. True despair.
But then as I awoke on Tuesday, I began to realise. Batman (Liverpool) at the end is staring down the barrel of Bane's (Despair) shotgun (1 game away), and he's saved...by Catwoman (Andy Carroll). This logic is flawless and so I am already making preparations for a 5pm title party. Come to think of it, maybe it should be a Batman themed one.

Lallana and Antoine Griezmann it is then :)

On Opr, I don't know the details obviously but I do know one thing nothing on here is worth getting perma banned about. Never take it PMs and if you get shown the red card take it like a man. A week or two in the cooler is good for the soul I find.

As for Sakho - he's fine, just needs to learn English or be partnered with another Francophone.

Opr was involved in a spat that got taken to PM.
something happened...knowing Opr he probably called a spade, a spade.

but a permaban was dished out.

Im not going to say anymore in risk of breaking the rules.

but all-in-all he is a loss to the soccer forum.

I've been reading this thread for a long time, much longer than I've been posting.
My 2 favourite posters were opr and kess. It was obvious that there was no love lost between them and I'm guessing that kess banned opr after a pm convo.
It was a pity that kess stopped posting here after he was annointed mod, and an even bigger pity that he decided to take opr with him.

Bring back opr or the panda gets it.:pac:

Mingolet seems to be a bit of a nice guy, a Dudek if you will. Goalkeepers, imo, need a bit of an edge to them. Walk that fine line of sanity and insanity.

Mingolet is a good goalkeeper and he's saved our skin a number of times this season so we cannot really be to harsh on him but I feel he needs to come out of his shell a bit. Start roaring at the defenders to get out of his area, be confident in coming for the ball when it's in the 6 yard box so that Sahko & Skrtel know that if they are in this area its likely that they would get a clattering.
