You have 3 tuners, 2x satellite, 1x terrestrial, therefore you can watch/stream/record 2 satellite and one terrestrial channel at the same time

Thought as much, just thought i'd check in case i'm missing out on something. Any ideas on streaming laptop TO box??

To best explain things, if you had just a single Tuner box, you would be able to to record something and additional watch any other channels which are broadcast on the same frequency and polarization. Each frequency carries multiple channels so this is why you could potentially see just a few other channels being available.

Similarly, If you were recording RTE2 on Saorview, you could maybe watch TV3 since these are on the same Mux whereas you would not be able to watch TV3 and record RTEOne since these are on different Muxes and would require 2 x terrestrial tuners.

I hope this explains the possibilities and constraints.

Has anyone any ideas how to keep my receiver connected to my home network please? I can find it the odd time but can't figure out why, I can connect to the receiver no prob with dreamboxedit or dreambox control centre, samba is turned on and looks ok, do I need to set up anything else on the box like shares?

Are you sure it's it's actually disconnected, sometimes mine appears disconnected but when I click on it it connects fine.

when i click on my network on the laptop i cant see the receiver, i usually drag and drop any movie files from the laptop drive to the receiver drive icon on the network map when i want to watch it on the tv, is that what people do or am i makin a balls of it as usual? sorry im even confusin myself by not explainin it very well!

For anyone using the sky skin you may not have seen that the developers have bought out a new one that is meant to look more like the new sky epg.

Find it here

*Note you will need to ftp the files in if your using an hyperion image as the file path is slightly different. Instead of usr/share/enigma2 it is usr/local/share/enigma2 in hyperion images.

Lastly the above skin has code built in so virtual zap will be skinned too (have that sky look) so if you download virtualzap from here you can set it up to see whats on now/next on other channels in the infobar by pressing left/right.

How do i install the skin? I've downloaded the ipk file, but i don't know what to do with it.

Unzip the IPK using a program like 7-zip and it will leave you with a USR folder, FTP it over to the box and then restart it..

Great thanks. I have winrar on my pc but it didn't seem to recognise the ipk file as something that needed to be unzipped.

Hi,

Having had some ariva boxes and had no problems playing around with them, i decided to move up in the worls to the Amiko Alien 2. I got my box yesterday and have been following the instructions on the other thread for flashing enigma 2 (10780 version).

I get stuck when i come to the install CrossEPG instruction as there are no plugins (not even CoolTV) listed for download. I have googled a version of CrossEPG and tried loading it to the root folder and then tried the plugin\extension folder but no joy.

Any words of advice on how to properly install CrossEPG manually or would a full re-flash be required?

as its no real enigma 2 you need to look for sh4 plugins

Your best flashing with one of the backup images posted on the other thread. They will come with everything preinstalled.

Hi, sorry if this is a repeat question.

Could someone post the settings I have to use is Samba server to make my box visible on my network. I am using TTG v3 Hyperion with samba server installed.

Nowso, as a moderator, all be it of another thread, can you tell us what can and can not be discussed on this thread?
I ask this, because time and time again you keep posting explicitly about topics which alot of us here, seem to think is off limits. Some one is wrong, and it may be us. But as a moderator , perhaps you could find out from whomever is the moderator for this thread, what is acceptable and what is not.
If we get closed down , it would be a shame, and I would hate for that to happen, so it would be great if we all knew what the story was

I have this box a week now. Very Impressed in what it can do. Q. Does anyone know the reason why some of the EPG listings are missing ie. (Challenge and Pick) I'm connected to the internet (wired) with CrossEPG Froce Reload plugin installed.

Download and install a new satellite.xml file and that should see you right!

I suggest you run AutoBouquets to update the channel frequencies

Also in crossepg configuration make sure astra 28.2 is ticked and 28.4 is unticked. Then download epg again.

A combination of all of the above should fix it, add an updated satellites.xml, reboot, do a full scan with clear before scan enabled, run autobouquets, reboot, then run CrossEPG downloader. It's also no harm to delete the CrossEPG database from the drive every few weeks and rebuild, it gets slow over time

I have done all of the above except for updated Sat.xml file. Still the same. But could someone point me to the latest Satellites.xml file the one I found is over a year old.. Many thanks.

Hi,

I have put ChampionC's 22Dec2013 AR-P based Image on my new box and it works fine (thanks Championc). I now want to edit my favourites using the dreambox editor to create my own personalised (read that as the wifes preferred channel listing) channel listing. I have searched through the thread and it is discussed several times but unfortunately i cannot follow how to do it.

What file do i need to transfer for editing and what path would it be in?

I thought i had it when i edited the autobouquets.csv file but it made no difference.
There was talk of adding the channels to Favs using the remote but i haven't figured that out yet.

Apologies for the questions but the learning curve is curving more that i thought it would!
