Just in case anyone happens to be following or planning to buy:

The official Moto G flip case causes the compass to cease functioning while the case is on the phone. Was going to pick the flip case up before I done a bit of reading on it.
It doesn't impact any other part of the phone and does not break the compass just renders it useless while the case is in use.

Also Amazon status has changed to "Usually delivered within 2 to 3 weeks" for the 16GB version sold by Amazon.

For anyone considering the Moto g, a new phone probably called the Moto e looks set to be announced in a few days time, with it going on sale a few weeks later.
This phone looks to be similar to the Moto g and may be a more suitable choice for some people.

1-3 weeks... Who did you buy it off?

I ordered mine from Amazon on Saturday morning (1am) and it was dispatched at 12pm the same day.

The dispatch time is 1-3 weeks but you will probably get an update email saying "The item will dispatch sooner than expected!" from Amazon which will reduce it to a week delivery time.

At least that's what I just got and I purchased yesterday:
    Hello,

We are pleased to report that the following item will dispatch sooner than expected:

"Moto G 16GB Sim Free Smartphone - Black"
    Previous estimated arrival date: May 22 2014 - May 30 2014
    New estimated arrival date: May 10 2014 - May 13 2014

Ah I think I know what happened, I sent the item to Parcel Motel's Antrim depot so that probably changes the estimates.

Anyone know what the speaker is like for playing music? Preferably in comparison to the iPhone 5S speaker.

Motorola launching new phone in two weeks (a phone for everyone), probably adding LTE to Moto G aswell.

That new OnePlus One Phone coming end of June/july aswell.
    New Moto E
Specs-wise, there's a 4.3-inch display, 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon paired with 1GB RAM, 4GB storage, a 1,980mAh battery and dual-SIM slots. On the expansion front, the microSD slot will only take cards up to 32GB, and there's a 5-megapixel camera poking out of the back. There's no word on price, but given that the Moto G retails for just under $200, we'd expect this to cost no more than a Benjamin-and-a-half.

Sorry if this has been explained before, I'm being really lazy, but would you mind explaining the process and expenses to get that delivered to Ireland please? I don't know how Parcel Motel works, or if it's required. And the unlock code too. I assume it's something like 1) set up a parcel motel account, 2) locate a parcel motel location, 3) buy phone on tesco website, set delivery address as parcel motel location, 4) collect from parcel motel location, 5) purchase unlock code on ebay.

Have I got that right? And what are the expenses involved with parcel motel? Thanks! :)

You have pretty much covered everything, you will receive an ID number from parcel motel if you join make sure you include that when entering your details on the Tesco website. Also use the PM address for whatever card you use.The cost for using the PM service is €3.50

Moto E announced at £89; Moto G getting an upgrade (LTE and microSD slot). It'll be priced at £149, and the current Moto G will go to £119. Potentially more room for price drops if people aren't interested in the update.

Got my Moto G today from Amazon, excellent phone compared to my previous Samsung Galaxy Y. I don't advise cutting your sim down to size, call into your network's store or give them a call and ask for a Micro Sim, it should be free and they'll transfer your contacts in some stores there and then (vodafone).

I cut mine down but must have made a balls of it since it didn't lock in to the Moto G nor did the Moto G read it, the sim itself still works fine (cut down) in my Samsung Galaxy Y. Plan on getting a micro sim later today.

I think...im on phone so not checking...the moto E loses the camera flash aswell for anyone thinking bout it.
