Amiko Alien 2 Triple Tuner Combobox

Hi Guys,
I'm running hyperion v3 fresh pots image. The box has started to black screen after reboot. The logo comes up then the channel info at the bottom, there's sound but no picture. I tried rebooting with hard drive and internet disconnected which works the odd time but generally i have to reflash. I can control the menus with the buttons on the box but the remote doesn't work. It's happenening more often now so anytime i switch it off it does this. It works fine after reflash and spark works fine. Any ideas would be appreciated. Have to get on to changing to V4. Thanks

You never figure issues like this, best just flash a new image

Sounds like a skin issue ,I encountered this when I briefly used the Sky skin on Hyperion.
Are you using the Sky skin,if so select another one and see if that helps.
PKT skins are a bit finicky.

I cant understand why people use the Sky skin,its bloody awful.

I just upgraded from Freshpots Hv3 to Hv4 but the Saorview channels are stuttering.
This did not happen on Hv3, and on Hv3 I had to manually scan the saorview channels in.
I tried to automatically re-tune the saorview channels in but it green screens.

It looks like from the settings that my saorview channels are connecting to a wrong antenna (466 - 7MHx)

My antenna is Spur Hill, Spur Hill is 666 & 698.
- Does anyone know what MHz is needed for a manual scan to Spur Hill?
- How do I overwrite the settings for the existing Saorview channels?

Could be a signal issue,I had issues with the RTE1 mux of Hyperion 4 ,the snr was lower than on V3 and AR-P and HDMU.
If the snr is less than 55% ,it will start to break up.
This has been mentioned on the PKT forum .

I had to go into the attic to fine tune the aerial .

Sky skin...... Keeping many a wife happy since its release! :-)

Perhaps,its handy if you are switching recently from Sky.
I tried it out and the wife didnt like it at all ,back to PLi-HD she roared and ...I gladly obeyed .:)
Hard to go back to a Sky box when used to Enigma 2.

You would think the upgrade would be an improvement. :-(
Am gutted as have spent all morning setting up Hv4.

I guess its back to V3 I go.

I would seriously advise against upgrading from Hv3 to Hv4 if your Saorview signal is not greater than 75%
I have pretty much wasted the last 4 hours upgrading, and now I need to downgrade to Hv3 again and reset up everything the way I want it as the Irish channels are unwatchable on Hv4.
Note that the Irish channels are pretty much perfect on Hv3 and spark so this is clearly a very big bug with Hv4.

You should backup your images using the plugin in Spark ,very handy for changing to use a new image as you can make a complete backup of your existing image .

I did back it up with Spark, but when I restored the image all of the channels (Saorview and UK FTA) showed up as black screens so I had no choice but to go back to the default FreshPots v3 image and reconfigure\upgrade everything again.

I think a warning should be added to the Hv4 image(s) regarding the saorview channels so nobody else goes through this.

I have just reinstalled and reconfigured Hv3.
For BBC3HD & BBC4HD I am getting "Service not found! (SID not found in PAT)"

Has anyone seen this?
Do I need to retune these, if so how can I do it? Should I use auto-bouquets and if so is there any danger in running that?

What I do: switch to a radio station, then press the tv/radio button on the remote and then bring up the EPG. It should be back on tv channels...

Few bits people might find useful.

AutoShredder: You set it to delete files so many days old e.g. anything older than 10 days in your movies folder is moved to the trash. Handy way of getting rid of those 100 episodes of corrie and fair city on your hard drive!

For anyone using the sky skin you may not have seen that the developers have bought out a new one that is meant to look more like the new sky epg.

Find it here

*Note you will need to ftp the files in if your using an hyperion image as the file path is slightly different. Instead of usr/share/enigma2 it is usr/local/share/enigma2 in hyperion images.

Lastly the above skin has code built in so virtual zap will be skinned too (have that sky look) so if you download virtualzap from here you can set it up to see whats on now/next on other channels in the infobar by pressing left/right.

I just got Amiko Alien 2 with E2 installed on Thursday. I need a little help again.
Noob Questions.

How do I move channel from last scanned to favorites and one other thing recording do I need external drive for this function on this box and if not could someone run me through the process. Thanks.

Highlight the channel you want to move , press menu - enable move mode and move it to wherever you want. Although if you run AutoBouquets then all the channels will be in the correct order.
You will need need an external HDD formatted to Ext3 to store recordings , CrossEPG etc.

As mentioned above, you need an external hdd formatted to ext3. I use a Samsung m3 500gb. works grand

these are the instructions with the image Zardoz put up a while back, can anyone tell me how i do this please? ""Please note that HDMU requires you to label your HDD as RECORD for it to use it correctly so you will need to run the command

HDMU is an operating system running on your Alien2. You need to get in to that OS and run a command to change the label of the attached USB drive.

One way to do that is to download Putty. This program lets you run commands to the Alien2 OS from your own computer. If you have a PC the one to download is the beta 0.63 that's toward the top of the page.

Install and run then under 'Session' type in the ip address of your Alien2, leave the Port as 22, change 'connection type' to 'Telnet' and click open. Username is 'root' and password is 'HDMU'.

Type this at the command prompt and hit Enter:

fdisk -1

This will list all attached devices. If you know the capacity of your USB drive then you should be able to work out its details.. if you only have one USB attached it's most likely /dev/sda1. IF you are sure your usb drive is attached at /dev/sda1 then, as Zardoz mentioned above, to relabel is as RECORD you would run the command:

tune2fs -L RECORD /dev/sda1

Guaranteed this is your problem, CrossEPG needs to save to the drive not internal flash

yeah i checked it and its savin to internal flash, cant seem to get putty goin tho, its givin me a login screen but then wont let me enter a password, i have dreambox control centre, can i use that or whats the easiest for a noob like me?

Just enter the password and press enter, it will be blank for security reasons

yep that got me in and now it seems to loggin in to my router as the name and make are comin up in the command prompt box and when i type in fdisk -1 it says "invalid option

Not possible unless you are telneting to the wrong ip and your router had the same username and pass
