    cheers windy.

Didn't know what team they had out but certainly will stand to some of the panel that weren't used much during the league.

You are all very quiet here about tomorrows match. I don't trust ye when ye are quiet so lets hear what is going on down there. Spill the beans.

I thought Kelly and Galvin were injured  Glad to see Browne getting a start if the team starts as named.

haha i dont know how much there is to spill , were going into the unknown in many ways tomorrow against the "french rugby team" of the hurling world
all year we have been hearing about disharmony in the tipp camp and yet they have been scoring for fun, the minimum of 20 points a game

tomorrow they will put out a stronger side to that we saw in thurles last month and belive me they will not fluff half the chances giving to them tomorrow that they missed the last day,

thats why i am happy to see jack browne start tomorrow , it may be only his second senior start but he is normally rock solid at the back and has had a few great years put down with the u21s

we have been shaky at times over the league like last year buliding up big leads only to let them slip again, and we may have been doing heavy training
prior to the laois game , but some of the errors we made that day were of the junior b verity

a national league title win would be nice givin the fact most of the users on this were'nt born the last time we won it
but we need the games, if we lose tommorow our next game is the end of june so in truth its a must win for us, i think we will win it but it will be tight

The 2003 Munster final was Cork and Waterford, not Clare and Tipp

Here's the quarter final piece from the examiner http://www.irishexaminer.com/archives/2003/0519/ireland/classic-clare-performance-catches-tipp-off-guard-860192.html you might be able to pull some of the team from it

Sorry guys I meant 1993 ( the day of the changed jerseys - not a good day)

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Regional Midwest Moderators Posts: 24,053 Mod ✭✭✭✭Clareman

That team doesn't exist anymore, totally different players played for Clare afterwards, some of them even had the same name, like Davey Fitz, Anthony Daly, Sean McMahon, Cyril Lyons, Ger O'Loughlin, James O'Connor, Ger McInerney and a few more. I'll see if I can dig out the program later on

The 93 Juniors however had a few players to make it through, like Liam Doyle, Conor Clancy, Brian Quinn and Colin Lynch

James Shanahan's last championship game for Clare was the 1991 Munster Championship Quarter-Final vs Limerick.

I would have lost a lot of money by saying that Seanie was on the team in 93, forgot Lohan in the corner as well

my 2nd munster final..... the first was the year before against kerry and i taught at the time it was always going to be like that......how wrong i was

that was a great tipp team that time and should have won more then 2 all irelands, was a big nicky english and pat fox fan , but then again so was every one else

i think it was john chaplin who scored a fantastic sideline cut when we were miles behind, we faught back well in the second half but it was too little too late

disappointing day in limerick today the game lacked atmosphere and we lacked any bite

tipperary were the better side all day , i sopose only jack browne and david mcinerney were our best performers .......our two corner backs!!!! the scoreline could have been a lot worse but for a number of donal tuohy saves , our midfield was cleened out in the second half by mainly james woodlock , it was probably pat o connor's worst game of the league along with colin ryan and pat donnellan

the league is a compitition i rarely get worked up over and in truth i cant say i am too dissapointed today either , but it would have been nice to get a crack at kilkenny in 2 weeks time , if for nothing else the extra game, we now have to wait 8 weeks for any competitive action

once again 7 points was the difference between the sides it should have been more , a bit of work to be done over the next 8 weeks

We embarrassed them in Thurles not so long ago so they had a point to prove. We were very weak through the middle and they attacked that with great success.

Anyone else think Kelly was poor again today, he's not had the best of league campaigns but he's not had a break so he may well be tired.

Tipp wanted the game more today, their hunger and blocking was brilliant for all the game.

In regards to Clare, our half forwards were more interested in playing as half backs, Clare and Tipp both played with a man back which Tipp made more of. Tuohy in goal showed whys he's a great goalie as well as a nightmare, great shot stopping but a clanger for a ball dropping in. Clare seemed more interested in their Portugal trip and their 3 a days than anything else.

BTW, I think having the Collins' in Portugal while the Clare footballers play in Croke Park under their father is a disgrace, they missed a Hong Kong trip, let them play in Croke Park for the footballers.

personaly i think the attitude was half arsed today ,davy gave one of the most up beat interviews ever on rte afterwards . taking off cathal mac at half time after he scored 1-1? colin ryans frees at the end when we we needed a goal , no one in around the house so he blazed both of them a mile wide, even eamon o shea comented about it afterwards ,

slightly unfair on those who paid 20 euro to see it today that wanted to see a good game, fair play to tipp though they were the better team and desevre the win

in relation to the division 4 final next week i agree with you to an extent but the main objective has been completed so it will give some one else chance of a run out at HQ, i am sure sean and podge will get there chance there again

€15 for 2 games of hurling, great day out.

Half forwards were completely dominated, in regards to going for points at the end, we needed to keep plugging away, we never got closer to 3 points down, if we went 4 and then missed a goal to go 5 down it was curtains, my thoughts would be take the points try to win the puck out and go from there. I don't think Clare will be winning a game in the Gaelic Grounds any time soon, out game needs open spaces of Semple or Croke Park.

Well we need to love the place as we could well be playing Cork there shortly!

I thought the game was enjoyable enough, atmosphere was up and down, but there was more of a crowd from Clare than anywhere else, so it only really got going when Clare looked like getting on top.

I just got the feeling that it meant a lot more to Tipp than Clare, they really needed the win today. Clare really weren't great, but they'll be better in the Championship and will have learned a bit from today. Davy and his team won't be too worried.

Kelly was very quiet, thought Collins was one of your liveliest players, he looked dangerous when he got the ball. In fact, the Clare forwards in general looked more dangerous in possession than their Tipp counterparts, but they weren't afforded as much space, the Tipp work rate was very good. I thought Donnellan was decent when allowed to roam up the field, but made a few defensive errors... Bugler was the best of your half-back line who didn't get on top as they normally do. Didn't think either of the big lads, Duggan or Conlon, made a huge impact and Ryan had one of his worst days in a long while. McInerney was dodgy enough but scored a great point, Tuohy made a few wondersaves but was a shakier presence than Gleeson imo, Galvin impressed me but wasted a few chances. I wouldn't be too worried from a Clare pov though.

Don't know what Colin Ryan was thinking at the end. I know Cathal Mc got 1-1 but the goal was lucky to go in. I don't think he was doing enough movement or showing for the ball well enough to be honest. Hard to know what to make of them today, Browne was the only one who really impressed me. Ref had a shocker aswell.

Anybody else here Tots has been dropped off the senior panel. Plenty of people seem to have it over on The Clare hurlers forum. Shame if it's true .

yer man seems fairly sure on that form but if you ask me it was on the cards for the moment , he needs to bulk up a bit

i am dissapointed to hear it but he is'nt much smaller then jack browne for instance , according to a few lads that play hurling with him in ballyea they said he never left the gym over the christmas and was only a sub for the waterford crystal, and had an awful lot of ground to make up

totts only scored two points in the league but he was worth more then that but if there was any reason for dropping him from the panel it might be down to how light he is, he is a great player though and i expect to see him back and i hope he didnt have a falling out with any of the management because in time we will need him

Jack Browne is a good bit taller and lightly built but in fairness to him he's very tenacious, he had no bother bursting through a few players on Sunday. Very few know what has actually happened I would guess but while he might not have been used with the seniors this year he was definitely worth his space on the extended panel I would have thought. All the lads over there have said it was a discipline issue, I don't know the ins and outs of it and even if I did I wouldn't say it on here. Hopefully the bridge hasn't been permanently burned.

Not too worried about Sunday, lads did not look very sharp at times,a decent break will do them the world of good..Let all the hype go back on "the return of the old guard" etc
