Fair play to you, very informative that football clip. Clare have incentive to win well too for score difference reasons don't they?

thanks , yeah they do need to put up a score but all will be made clearer come 5 o clock after tipperary play leitrim

Laois are a good team, can't be underrated. Cheddar is some man tbf, really turned them around. Obviously work has gone in at underage level and they're bringing through some good hurlers but the difference between them now and a few years ago is incredible really.

Ye should still win, but it's unlikely to be a walk in the park. Unless you were to hit them for loads of goals early on, but they have a strong backline and they defend deep.

Clare Football Manager Colm Collins has made two changes in personnell, and a number of positional switches to his side for tomorrows Round 6 league clash against Carlow in Cusack Park.
Meelicks Kevin Hartnett and Eire Og's Ciaran Russell are the new players in, with Martin Ogie Murphy and Shane Brennan the players to make way.
Dual star Podge Collins who is committed to the footballers this week misses out through injury.
The team in full see's Pierce De Loughrey continue in goals, Dean Ryan at corner back, Hartnett in full back with Martin McMahon in the other corner.
Gordon Kelly fills the centre half back berth, with Shane Hickey and Russell on the wings.
Captain Gary Brennan and Cathal O'Connor continue their midfield partnership.
Jamie Malone has been named at centre half forward, with Sean Collins and Shane McGrath on the wings.
David Tubridy wears 14, with Martin O'Leary in one corner, and Enda Coughlan named in the other corner completing the starting 15.

    1.Pierce De Loughrey
    2.Martin McMahon
    3.Kevin Hartnett
    4.Dean Ryan
    5.Shane Hickey
    6.Gordon Kelly
    7.Ciaran Russell
    8.Gary Brennan
    9.Cathal O'Connor
    10. Shane McGrath

Footballers well on top, currently leading 3 20 to 2 10 as this one enters the final 5 minutes.
Leitrim losing to Tipp at home which kills their chances of promotion.

Tipp will top the group with 2nd place between Clare and Wicklow, a win for Clare in the final round will see them up no matter what Wicklow do

Clare need at least a draw to gain promotion.Hopefully Tipperary will put out a full team against Wicklow next week. They will probably rest u21 players as there playing Cork in u21 Munster Final on Wednesday

good to see the footballers close in on pormotion , a win in antrim will guarantee a trip to croke park on april 26th and even if they dont manage to win up north it will be in wicklows hands to beat tipp down in thurles which will be a massive ask

i think only 2 of the team that played against clare in thurles linned out in the u21 game in miltown (shane o brien and michael quinlivan) so they shouldnt be too affected by the cork game and i am sure they will want to finnish the division unbeaten but lets hope we can get the job done ourselves and not have to worry about anyone else

It appears Laois have put a wee bit of a downer on your usually animated after match hurling discussions, gone back to the big ball I see.

it was anything but a walk in the park laois are a team on the up and if luck had been on there side today they would have won it, they played most of the game with 14 men and faught like dogs when they found themselves 8 or 9 points down they never gave up at any stage, the game was still in the ballance on the 70minuet mark

unlike any of the games played in 1A clare couldnt get a foot hold at any stage of the game and more imoprtantly clare had no answer for there intensity at times , we were very lucky to go in 3 points up at half time after shane o donnell scored on the break in first half stoppage time

laois never dropped there performance in the second, dispite clare building up a sizeable lead halfway through the second half laois had plenty of chances but failled to convert , for the last 15 minns we were up against the ropes the full time whistle couldnt come quick enough, it was a great porfermance by laois but the fact they dont play agin for two months is a joke they deseverd to be playing tipp in 3 weeks time , hopefuly the gap wont affect them too much, a repeat porfermance of todays showing will make them hard to beat no matter who the face

as for clare......were just lucky to be alive  after that

Another team let back into a game windy. If you remember we had that discussion after the Waterford game. Now, I wasn't able to make today but I don't like reading about building up a good lead only to let them back into it...it's a common theme

yeah but that was half the problem we got a number of handy frees to keep us in the game realy albeit down to inexperience on the laois defense and at times picky refereeing which were not given down the other end of the field,

the problem with throwing away big leads i think comes down to management in my opinion , i keep thinking back to the behind the sceans dvd where on two occasions one at training in cusack park and the other before the replay in croke park davey was hamering it into the players about" if they score 3 goals we score 4" and "if they come back at us we go again" almost inviting then to take there foot of the gas

this only became a problem over the championship last year and i know my reference is coming from an edited dvd but if management were seriously concerned about it you would imagine somthing would have been done by now

you are right it is a weakness and if it is'nt sorted it could cost us big time yet

Clare had a big training week and not alot of motivation to win bar getting another game in few weeks. Laois focused on the game and had massive motivation welcoming the Champs.
This was always going to be a slog. would infer nothing from it bar how well LAois are improving.

This is very familiar territory for the footballers to be in, and we all know what usually happens.
I'd be very cautious of this one

We now have a decent enough squad, competition for places, and haven't won the league for a long, time time.

Should they ease up on the heavy training and just go for it in the semi-final?

They have a bit of a break until the championship anyway.

A video here from the laois game last sunday while it only covers the home teams scores it shows what improvements they have made in as little as 12 months from the game at cusack park last summer, pat kelly wont be too happy about the second goal though

the footballers must win game tomorrow against antrim in creggen is probably our best shot at promotion in years tomorrow, for the first time the objective is in our favor, the only video of tomorrows opposition is from there first game of the league at home to wicklow, and i am sure they must have strengthened up there defense in that time , they do have good scoring forwards but if they defend like this tomorrow we should be on our way up, altough id imagine they are alot closer to championship mode by now and i would expect a tough game

Antrim are favourites for tomorrow which amazes me given the league positions of the 2 teams. Surely Clare should be favourites against a team that lost to Carlow after all?

Wicklow 7 points down with 14 men. Job is done I'd say! Podge seems to be every where since he came on.

All over and promotion secured. Great performance in the 2nd half facing into what seems like a gale according to Syl.

Delighted for longserving members of the panel like Tubridy and Enda Coughlan.

yeah it will be good to see the likes of tubs and gary brennan play in croker for the first time its long over due, good performance in the second half and it was needed as wicklow won in thurles

How the heck did Wicklow, after being a man down, get 4 late goals to win ?!

    Can't believe it myself!!

I was doing live updates, and I was keeping a particular close eye on the games that had something at stake and those that were close, so I took my eye off the Tipp-Wicklow game for a few minutes- I came back and Wicklow had scored 3 more goals and were winning

But well done to Clare, not easy to win in Antrim, great to have 3 Munster teams in Division 3. Not only for easier away matches, but it's good for the standard of football in the province.

Any match report from the challenge match between Clare and Wexford over the weekend?

wexford won 1-18 to 1-15 or so i heard, it was a charity match in up in rathdowney Saturday

wexford made several changes at the back from the defeat to kilkenny the week before but more or less stuck to the same forward line

clare on the other hand put out mainly a second string with donal o donovan and pat donnellan the only regulars from last year starting, cillian duggen paul flanagan stephen o halloran nicky o connell sean collins shane golden david reidy peter duggen and cathel mcinerney starting , duck honan and arron cunningham made there first starts of the year back from injury, dont know what subs were used

i am sure it was a good test for the lads coming through most of whom were u21 last year .

i cant give any real report as i was'nt there but i am sure it will stand to one or two lads for sunday that might be needed coming off the bench
