Jarvis Cocker - possibly the unlikliest pop star of all time.

Hang on, I thought the Slade documentary was on later :pac:

    Louise Wener!

    *sigh*

Never heard of her, the band or the song

Wasn't paying a whole lot of attention during the BP phase, clearly.

Aha, this one sounds a bit more familiar! Still never heard of the band though......

Such a great period for British music!

Guitar bands having more exposure than pop bands in teen magazines, every gig was like a celebration (no matter how lame the band)...good times :)

Another one I've never heard of.

I'm not doing very well here, am I?!

Does Ms. Echobelly () qualify for the biggest mouth tonight? She's certainly giving it her best shot!

Aha, now this one I do recognise! Was on my running playlist (back in the days when I could run, God be with them).

Never knew who sang it though :D

    Great song.

    Great song.

    Good old Gene, great band.

Always got bashed by the critics for being just a tad Smiths-y, but made great records.

Twas Pulp I was on about (the Debor-ah song), never heard of Gene either......

Beginning to wonder why I'm watching this at all :D Except that it's great music, and a hundred times better than the LLS!

I was at Knebworth...approx. half a mile from the stage!

Strange that I don't actually remember their performance, just queueing for beer and the toilets!

    Disco 2000, great song.

I may have even dressed like Jarvis for a period too :o:o

Right, that's me off - enough of Blur for one night! and the early alarm is haunting me.

Enjoy the rest of the music, hope someone else comes along to keep you company :)

You can actually see Graham Coxon die a little inside as he plays 'Country House'.

Just to make sure this is up to speed...brass section playing right now?

The Universal always reminds me of going on the hop with a flagon of Linden Village before the part time evening job in Tesco.

One of my favourite memories, in fact!

(Jesus, if that Donie knew I'd be watching the late late every friday...bloody hell!)

As a fan of bad taste, I'm still struck by the getups on these fellas!

I'm listening to Frankie Goes to Hollywood's Welcome to the Pleasure Dome

I wonder if the Bay City Rollers copied the Tartan from Slade?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,779 ✭✭✭✭Ol' Donie

I know it's not fair, or probably politically correct, but the Brummie accent is particularly silly in my opinion. Not in a bad way, it just sounds like what a person from a farm should sound like, but it's the second city.

Makes me laugh, but isn't supposed to.

Feel kinda mean saying that. :-)

How does it compare to Welcome to the Jungle?
