If we can keep likes of Kagawa, Chico thats a start.

Now we seriously must buy 4 to 5 top quality players.

Im not sure its possible, but it has to if its possible.

Eh? the club is worth 2.5billion. 4th in the Deloitte Money League.

The value of the club does not mean the club's finances are in a good state.

The Glazers took out a huge loan to buy the club and the yearly interest repayments are very high. If united fail to get into the champions league for another 2 or 3 seasons and other revenues fall, we are in serious trouble as the loss of revenue won't cover the payments.

Yes revenues are on the up at the moment from the new sponsors but there is more than likely a get out clause if united continue to miss out on the CL and major trophies for the sponsors.

Finances are fine at the moment but the situation will be as bad as people make out should there be a few more seasons like this year. As long as we qualify for the CL, things will be fine though and I'm confident we will next year with some new players.

Well I share Pigheads opinion, so that makes it a visible group as opposed to the invisible one you suggested. Now there may be some who share your mindset here. But Moyes still has the support where it really matters most - The Stretford End.

I reckon Moyes could take a literal dump on the OT pitch wearing a Liverpool Jersey, and the Stretford End crew would still support him to prove a point. And I think the second he is gone, they will happily say they always thought he was the wrong man for the job too.

I also think they aren't the ones who matter most...the Glaziers are.

That's why the Glazers will sell and boy will I rejoice

Running back to his own thread then and relaying the responses he gets. Even though the majority of them are sensible and don't give a toss what reactions he gets to inflammatory posts. Anyways. Its been emotional. I'm actually happy to be sad in a way. There was a stage where our performances were so turgid week in week out, that it started to become a chore to watch and supporting th e team was harder when it looked like they were never fussed. The majority gave their all tonight and it was a sight i missed.

    I hear ya,

I'm in the Moyes out side, but yes I'm really proud of the lads for not rolling over the way the fans (Myself included) and everyone else felt things were going to go.

I'm still pissed that we are in this situation more so with the league side of things, the man has been competing in the league for 10/11 years it's hard to find excuses for what has been a seriously sh!t league campaign. The style at which he played a lot of the games is a big no for me.

I've accepted that he'll be with us until Oct/Nov/Dem but I don't think they'll be a situation he'll put himself into too get me back on side.

I know it's sounds silly but if he still comes out next season with the try bullsh!t I'll have zero hope for the man.

I long for the day that we can force the big teams in Europe to counter our play and not the other way around.

So do most fans but being realistic Ferguson stopped playing aggressive football against the big boys a long long time ago.

Utd havent even been able to take the initiative away to the big teams in the EPL for a long time too.

Rooney was a disgrace tonight ,injured or not he should have scored at least one .
Christy Brown would have finished that chance he fluffed in the second half

I know Evra has been rubbish this season and arguably last season, and that he was at fault for at least 2 of the goals tonight, but my abiding memory of him will be that goal and the ~60 seconds of hope it gave of the biggest upset of the season. What a memory.

Can we start transfer muppetry earlier this year? Season's pretty much over, so perfect time really.

Anyone any opinion on Serge Aurier? Seen Arsenal linked with him and whilst I like Rafael at RB, another one would be nice, especially if he's as good as people say.

Should go for Gonalons too, as a replacement for Carrick

Check this guy out. He knows things are facts even if they are hypothetical.

Ok fact was a bad choice of words but do you think Mourinho or Klopp or any decent manager would have United 7th and hoping for the europa league with a team that came 1st last season?

From the looks of things he seems to be entering Moyes radar majorly - love to see the lad play all the remaining matches and make a big impression with Mata alongside. Chico I don't know - in one way i'd love for him to stay but in another way I think he deserves a chance of first team football at another club.

Aye probably a bit better in the PL alright but realistically would even SAF have won the CL with this team? I very much doubt it.

I wasn't holding Moyes too the CL berometer, it was the league in which he has worked in for 10/11 years and he has failed so much up until now.

The season is over so might as well work on things now for next season.

I am also resigned to the fact Moyes is staying now.

He will have my support in that I hope he can get things right, but if things are not right by christmas next season then he has to go.

Agreed! I'm hopeful he is kept in the summer.

Club owners will usually take the pulse of the terraces before implementing a change of manger. Hence my earlier point about the Stretford End. So while Moyes has the support of the fans in Old Trafford, he won't be going anywhere. Most I assume, are reasoned enough to wait and see what changes will occur over the summer and how we shape up in the new season.

Yeah Kew Christmas it is for me too - outside the top 4 come Christmas and even I will say enough is enough ... I am though confident though that we can majorly improve with the acquisition of some quality players during the summer and with the likes of Kagawa, Rooney, Jones, Smalling, De Gea and Mata all coming of age and majorly improving too.

Jamie Carragher said earlier this season when the chips are down everything seems worse and things are never as bad as it seems, hopefully this time next year we will look back at this time as character building stuff.

Yeah getting rid of Kagawa would probably piss me off more then any other player - I think he could yet be a star for us if he is given a chance.

If moyes leaves Kagawa go in the summer than he will never have my support no matter what he does. With Mata, Kagawa and Janjuaz we have the foundations laid for some great attacking football.

Well I think he also needs to change his backroom team. Keep Giggs bring in Scholes maybe even Neville.

Also get solid assistant if needs be.

His backroom team in my opinion dont seem up to it. Thats just theory based on few things, I could be wrong.

I would personally believe the Glaziers will prioritise the money side of things of things and won't give a damn about the fans; it's pretty obvious the fans don't like them and they don't get bothered, so why start worrying now? They will do what's best for the club financially. At best, they might ask some like Fergie what they think.

But ultimately it will be based on what goals Moyes was set, how badly he failed to reach them, and if he can convince them if he can turn things round.

Aye the clearout of backroom staff while understandable was a massive mistake by Moyes - whether his staff is up to it will become apparent from the first game next season for me (after getting the entire summer to acquire the players they want).

This run in could be good for Moyes. Contrary to what tabloids etc will spin, I think the pressure will actually be off him until the start of the new season at least.
Hopefully he's smart enough to start the rebuilding now. He'd be crazy not to try and get Mata, Kagawa & either Januzaj or Chico starting a few consecutive games in the run in, especially after the Newcastle game. I was thrilled to hear Mata give Kag a real positive mention in his post-match interview. It would be an awful shame to see Kag or Chico go in the summer.

Also for defense. It's difficult with Evans out, Smalling & Jones need to get some more games together. Jones was great at RB tonight, but I'm not sure if I'd rather have him at CB.

As for the centre of the pitch, well that might have to wait until the transfer window opens.
Januzaj needs to develop a whole lot more to be a part of a title winning team. He's only had 3 or 4 good games this season and everyone seems to be avoiding any criticism of him. Some good attributes but not much more at this stage imo. The experience may be good for him though or the pressure to perform might sink him which is why I think getting him out of the limelight as much for a season could be good.

Even if we are having a crap season up till Xmas he will still get the rest of the season if we are in with a chance of getting CL football.

This goes back to the Rooney/Rvp situation, they aren't going to be happy sitting on the bench waiting for a few minutes on the field to change things?

I'm totally torn with this type of situation tbh.

As a fan it's easy to be critical/supportive of things but Moyes has got to get this right if he doesn't it's the end of him IMO. That's barring the right signings in the other areas that need attention.

This Christmas make or break for Moyes is so stupid. So he's out of the top 4 once again. He won't be fired at Christmas since it would be stupid to do so. There's no logical way of thinking give him till Christmas is a good idea

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 427 ✭✭sigmundv

I must be the only one, but I'm still clinging on to the hope of 4th spot. Admitted, we need to win all the remaining matches, and Everton and Arsenal need to drop some points (even Tottenham needs to drop 2), but fourth is reachable!

He is staying. We better get used to it.

I dont think he is the man. But, I hope he can get this turned around, for all United fans sake.

David Moyes is a loser with a loser mentality (against top class opposition...). I'm not talking about tonight just generally. He has been a manager for a long time, played against a lot of big teams. Almost always comes up short. Whats the outstanding win this season Arsenal 1-0 at home ? Is that the sum total of "big" results. Maybe its a blip though. Name the "big" results in his 10+ years as Everton manager.

Don't do it to yourself. It's the hope that kills you.
