United are in a fantastic financial position, to be fair, and I'm no fan of the Glazers. The problem is getting the club to spend it on bringing the players in that we need.

Money isn't the answer, a vision is. The most expensive player on Liverpool's team is Suarez and look where they are. It's not about a PSG type thing just bringing in player after player. City actually got lucky having a manager buying Silvas and Agueros rather than older players in their peak like a lot do in the same situation.

As someone said already they could have taken Rooney off instead of Welbeck

Welbeck was dead on his feet towards the end. It wouldn't have made much of a difference because the chances we got were from Welbeck feeding Rooney. Welbeck was much better supporting attack than being the actual point of attack. Thats usually the case. He's not a great striker.

We wouldnt be talking about rebuilds if we had a good manager

Might be the last time we hear George Frideric Handel's Champions League Anthem for quiet some time :(

Have to say I hate Arjen Robben. Horrible little man. Absolutely classless. I remember him laughing at the irish side after a friendly a few years ago. Horrible little sh1t

EDIT; Robben laughed at Ireland whilst being interviewed by irish TV after the game.

No worse than Evra offering a rematch on his PlayStation after the Henry handball tbf.

Can't blame Rooney. Moyes is the manager who picked a clearly injured/unfit player.

So you think Moyes declared him fit to play? Sorry, no manger is qualified to make such a declaration. Such decisions are made by the team doctor and when such a call is made and a player backs up this finding by a willingness to play. Then it is a natural assumption by any manger, to trust the word of the team doctor and his player and then select him accordingly.

    A few players (4 or 5) is a rebuild.

If a player is hurt, AND is playing badly, AND we're in need of a change of tactics, then it is very much Moyes' decision whether or not Rooney is fit to play. A strong manager should have the ability to say "You're hurt and doing poorly, get the **** off the field!"

You're not replacing donkeys. You're replacing Champions League winners, Premier League winners, stalwarts at the club for the past decade (and more). This is a MAJOR rebuild over the summer. Not a quick fix job..

Crazy statement. No way United's financial position could be described as this

Suppose, one positive is with no CL football, we don't need as large a squad so less players to bring in.

    That's a positive, right?

Very true, he's a great lad and bleeds United but his clinical efficiency in front of goal was always found wanting.

Plenty of players we have now are fine as back up. We're 2/3 players max away from having a very very good starting 11.

if it was Ozil we would have Neville the rest of the pundits on Sky saying he was a disgrace. I think Rooney freezes on the big European nights. As he hasn't played well in a big European game since Barca in 2011.
He was very poor against barca that night people can get blinded by a goal. Scored a great goal but constantly got caught in possession and I think it was that final that fergie was going nuts at him for his defensive work could have been 09.
Didnt have a great night tonight but it looked like he was struggling with injury.
On the two legs utd did quite well. If they had of held on for the last 30 mins people would be saying it was a great tactical performance. Bayern clearly the better team but utd got themselves into a great position and failed to capatilise.

Unless you make Europa League, but I suppose it depends on how seriously it's taken.
Not taken seriously, then you can afford to use it as a blooding ground for younger players and don't need so many big names.

Our left back let us down once again and then our midfield are just not up to the job at all

We need to spend big money to buy 3 players for those positions

To be fair we all knew we didn't have a chance against Bayern.

Felt sorry for Moyes tonight, the lost expression on his face. He didn't ask for the job, it was a job thrusted upon him by Fergie. It's not even his team, he inherited an ageing team that Fergie built, one that one the league last season but truthfully that was more down to other teams underperformance. This season and two years ago the top teams have performed a lot better and have been a lot more consistent.

Hope Evra never puts on that jersey again.

And a CB and a new manager.

    Oh really??? explain please.

The Glaziers leveraged buy-out of the club and the amount of money that has to be re-payed each year to service the debt? This was all good and well with Champions league football but without that source of income it's hard to see the Glaziers splashing 100 million on new players.

I would describe City, PSG etc as being in 'a fantastic financial position' most certainly United are not

It's the remnants of the great side that won so much over the years. All the big names are there, but so many of them are past it.
I've played football my entire life, albeit at a much lower level, and let me tell you, if one or two players aren't putting in a proper shift, the team suffers badly. If three or four players aren't doing it, the whole team falls to pieces.

Yep rebuild should have started last summer but Moyes fecked it up.

Funnily enough I'd look forward to watching Utd play in the Europa. Get to see more of the squad players. Different teams. A bit like the League Cup. I've really enjoyed that over the last few years. We ve played younger players. Been successful. All good.

People talked about rebuilds during Fergie's last season or two. There's been a couple of gaps in the team for a while - probably since Ronaldo left. RVP's excellence last season covered over quite a few cracks.

Going by the rags apparently it doesn't matter if we don't qualify as we have this imaginary war chest.
