He was a LB when he came to the club, played LB with Flum youths. Thats his best position

    Right footed full back.

Yeah, Fabio's a LB. Was bought by United as one. Raf was the RB, he was the LB. Doesn't have to be left footed to be a LB.

I don't care what it says. The guy is a right full. Watch him play at Cardiff if you doubt me.

    That's the spirit.
If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through.

Is there anyone in the reserve/youth team that might make a step up next year?

Similar to what Januzaj did this year. Don't follow the youths that closely so I'm hoping someone better informed can take a stab at answering:)

Wilson as mentioned is prob the most exciting.

Janko is doing well after settling as is Varela, that's been the right side the last while and they combine well.

I like Ben Pearson a lot. And I'd give a mention to Rothwell and Ekangamenge (spell!)also. One or two others but for me these are the ones I like to see. All midfielders, but Ek can play CB too.

For what it's worth. Pogba was streets ahead of all of them when he left - so...

United site has him listed as Left Back
    http://www.manutd.com/en/Players-And-Staff/First-Team/Fabio.aspx

Transfermarkt as left back, who can play right
    http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/fabio/profil/spieler_61891.html

I wouldn't have a problem with letting players go if we had brought people in to replace them; THAT was my point. Not that either was good enough for the team, but that they were better than nothing as expanded squad options at the very least. This, remember, was in reply to the idea he had efficent transfer windows.

I'm aware what your point was supposed to be. My counter was that the squad was not weakened by letting them go as they added nothing to the team and adequate cover was available. The summer transfer window was a train wreck; although getting a player of Mata's quality and letting Anderson go in January did bring a smile to my face.

    I thought Janko was RB?

How can you be so sure it really was Fabio that went to Cardiff?
I mean, they just change shirts and hey presto...

    Still makes me so sad:(

I've heard bits and pieces about Ekangamenge. I thnik Moyes gave him a squad number earlier in the season? Could be a sign that he rates him highly.

    On these notes...

Long term commitment shouldn't weigh into the debate imo; I'd happily take the job for 50 years. Doesn't mean I deserve the job.

I also don't know how anyone can say he was "effcient" in transfer dealings, at least in context of Man United; his first window was a mess, and in the second, he weakened the areas we should have been looking to strengthen.

And the third "plus" made me laugh and cry a bit; is that our expectations now? That we think it's a "pro" that Moyes took over a 1st place team and had them do as well as a 7th place team did when they changed manager?

And again, "Time =/= Automatic Improvement" despite how it's the stance so many seem to take....Moyes is not Rodgers, he's not Fergie. Giving him "time" won't be enough, hence the talk of splunking 200m on players this summer.

I think his long term commitment was a key reason for his selection, whether you agree with it or not. And I think it's a reason why someone like Mourinho was overlooked. It also explains the 6 year contract, a 4 year contract might have been more typical and expected.

He has been very efficient with his transfer dealings at Everton over a decade, and Mata was expensive but likely to be good value overall. Fellaini was too expensive, but it wasn't all Moyes's fault.

The comparison with Liverpool's season last year was more hopeful than anything! And yes, he did take over the champions and it's very much a negative that they have dropped so low.

Time is no guarantee, but the likes of SAF and Bobby have been there before and they certainly believe in giving a manager time. Whilst you are very confident in your opinion that time won't be enough for Moyes, SAF and Bobby are very confident that it will.

The lad is right footed. Natural right full. Play him on the left and he tackles with his wrong foot. That's why he couldn't get into to the team at left full. He's a right full.
He's playing at right full since he went to Cardiff.

What position is he playing at Cardiff?

I believe he has mostly played right back for Cardiff owing to the fact that that's the position they bought him to cover. Football Manager however tells me he's a natural left back and accomplished right and while I wouldn't take video games as a authority on many things those guys are very good at what they do.

Saw an interesting headline at the weekend:
    Wenger + Cash = Fergie?

    Moyes + Cash = ??? :pac:

At Cardiff, he's played RB. He also had a game at RB and one at RM at United.

At QPR last year, he alternated; 12 appearances at LB, 8 at RB. 3 at RM.

Season before, at United: 6 games at LB, 6 at RB, 1 at LM, 1 at RM

He's a natural right full. Just because he's asked to fill in elsewhere doesn't change that.
    Ignore me now ;)

Crossed with his left. Scored with his right. Spent his entire career playing as a left full. Loved him!
