Microphones that are used to detect motion for the alarm.

Oh and talking about alarms, would a 98 almera be likely to have central locking? The key has the attachment for locking/unlocking, but I've a feeling it's not for the car. Put a new battery in it, but it doesn't work.

Most do, does it have a NATS sticker on the window?

Yar it does indeed, and the red flashing light on the dash. Don't know if that has anything to do with the equation. I'm clueless when it comes to all this alarm malarkey.

No idea what they do, exactly, but my car has an alarm, and it has those exact thingy-ma-jiggies either side of the windscreen, too.

I'd say it has central locking via the fob so, any N15 I've come across has had it, even Pulsars and imports are notorious for having ****e security features.

My dad is home for the weekend and is far from a vw fan he's never had an actual vw but always just thought they were over priced specially the golfs. He always thought the focus was good value for money and reasonably nice to drive. Anyway he drove the golf and he was speechless. He said it is literally nicer and better than the focus in every way which is my view on it. The focus doesn't even come close to it. And I'm not talking about reliability just comparing features and how they drive.

Is how drive not similar to Octavia, if memory correxct you have Octavia too?

Ah no comparison tbh. We have a 05 octavia and since they both have the exact same engine you would think they'd be the same to drive there not. The octavia is so loud compared to the golf. For a diesel it's very quite even at high revs. It feels alot quicker for some reason too. It also has a lot more extras. My dad thought it was really nice to drive very smooth. Even my mother who isn't into cars said she would far prefer it to drive. The golfs do cost more to buy than a lot of cars in the same bracket/ segment but there worth it in my opinion. Now maybe it's just the golf is so tight to drive. I seen the cvrt results all suspension and brake imbalances were less than 1%. 30% is the fail mark and anything ive seen is normally around 20%. Side slip on the front suspension was less than 1. 14 is fail mark focus was 13 :)

I was just lucky to get the car. I was kind of in the right place at the right time a certain amount. Considering the other 3 golfs vans we looked at were seriously rough. A few before I found that golf I was talking to my uncles one is a car salesman other mechanic and they both said there impossible to find clean and I was actually going to try look at a different model to see it I could find so etching else even though I wanted a golf. Then I seen this and my jaw nearly hit the ground. Anyway I'm sure your all well and truly sick of hearing about it at this stage :)

There's more sound deadening in the VW cars compared to the Skodas hence why it is quieter in comparison.

Lads, the OH's Passat is running low on oil. Due a service soon but I'd like to top it up in the mean time as she does a lot of driving. What oil should I use? It's a 1.9 tdi

€260 for 2 Rainsport 3s a puncture repair and my lock nuts off. Not bad, not bad at all.

Be interested to know what size they were and where you got them.

I got 2 Rainsport 3s (225/50/17) for €240 on Openeo back in Feb and paid €20 to have them fitted. That seems to be a generally more expensive tyre than a lot of other sizes, though.

They are 225/40/ZR80. Got them in Discount Tyres in Blanch. If I were you I'd look at 225/45/17 next time. Should be cheaper and easier to get. Speedo difference would be negligible.

    Thanks.

Yes, was thinking it might be there as they're often recommended on here but a 4 hour return trip for me so that's a no-go.

Any potential problems with changing size? Could I have 50/17s on front and 45/17s on rear? Peugeot 3008.

Anyone have a problem with ads scattered randomly on DD when you select the Low Price option??

Hadn't noticed. You can download adblocker, that gets rid of a lot of ads including the ones that come up before a YouTube video.

It certainly isn't sorted from Low price :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,925 ✭✭✭GvidoR

I recommend setting starting price from at least 100, then you wont get a lot of ads like that. Then sort by the date... older ads are more likely to be sold.

The problem as far as I can tell is that you have multiple sections selected. This is making it show the lowest from Damaged Repairable, then Car Parts etc etc. If you just select Cars it should be perfect.
