So that report is handed in. I rewarded myself....... by going home at 2 and going to sleep till now after falling out of the car when parking up :o
Ugh I know this! Haven't got word on my laptop here, but I'll check it out tomorrow for you, if that's any use :)
Edit: On the Insert tab, in the Headers & Footers group, click Page Number, and then click Format Page Numbers.
In the Start at box, type 5.

Much appreciated for the help

What I needed to do was to insert a page break at my introduction, thus breaking the document into 2 parts and numbering from the 2nd part. I messed up several documents, thank goodness for multiple copies :D

That part just starts numbering from 5 onwards not from page 5 :P

    Have you tried openoffice?

A bit better than that msoffice imo.

It is indeed far better than ms! I haven't used it in a while though :(
    https://www.libreoffice.org/ even better than openoffice.

That's what Ubuntu comes with and I would have happily exported my online doc into an odt only those DIT use ms 2010 (first really long report I've done on drive), which cocks up the formatting of anything that isn't a docx file/written on word!

I don't think it is. Libreoffice is open source and comes loaded on Linux like ubuntu and mint etc...

Would nearly want one in the engine bay too. Re the dashcam.

    Doesn't do Ubuntu ;)

I did mine all online as I have drive on the phone which meant I could write my report wherever I went, whenever I liked :D

Pretty sad I'm reduced to getting excited over that :(

Not a lot of people use Linux, tbh.

Kingsoft is free to download and use. I've had for about a year or so, never had an issue.

But I use Linux derived systems, such as Ubuntu on my laptop and Ubunto Server/Kali on the main PC.... Would love to get Ubuntu phone

I find it strange that there's no support for Ubuntu/Linux

I may look into that :D

I'm not sure why someone would want to use Linux. Is it the fact that it's 100% free or is it that there are lots of versions... I really don't get it. I tried Linux once, I don't think I want to go through that again. :P

Far faster than windows to begin with. Updates that actually help the OS and not riddle it with bugs :pac:

Far easier for me to write code up too; I can do almost anything in gedit and test them in terminal. For example I had a bloody awful time trying to rid those stupid ads on youtube vids, so I configured dnsmasq and pixelserv to stop that, then edited my hosts file list so the servers are directed to a loopback address more as a lol :pac:

The downside is lack of support for some applications (like my iphoney won't connect to it, I had to write several scripts to get support for Android phones to interface with the SDK). I have yet to get VCDS to work on wine :(

I'm still learning about Ubuntu as I go along, despite using it for years. But all in all, gimme a Linux based system over Windows anyday

First NCT fail for the 325.

And of all the foockin things, it fails because the front passenger dip is too far to the left. The mech was complimenting me on how well sorted she is, and seemed almost apologetic that he had to fail it. Feck.

I guess i'm happy with the rest of the results, which were perfect, but still a kick in the gut!

I'd be very surprised if you manage Vcds in Wine. An XP VBox does the job for me.

It just keeps throwing up the same error, have tried a few different things. I just need more time to play around with it. Plan was to get that working first, then onto multiscan

To the left, how'd that happen?

Dont even know. Haven't touched them since before the last NCT. I'll have to take a gander.

Whats the number to ring up to check the VRT on a specific car ? Not listed on website or otherwise wouldn't be ringing.

Also if you get a quote from one office is that binding or does it vary on any given day ?

    Thanks

It happened here once, but that was because I changed the lamps on the car and whilst the beam was the right height it looked strange.... Lined up another car and realized the right lamp was pointing completely wrong. I just had to reposition the light and it was spot on when checked on the wall again!

Were the bulbs changed recently or hit any potholes hard?

Just thinking now, the last time the bulb was changed was after one of the meets, maybe 6 months ago at this stage. Could just not be sitting in its housing correctly I guess, but haven't noticed anything. I'll line it up against a wall on the weekend and check the bulb and see if there's something obvious.

Be great if I could get some advise about this car. I am not a car person at all but am going to see the below car on Friday. Anyone any idea what would be a good price etc and things that I should be aware of before going to see it. Have never bought a car before and don't want to get ripped off.

    Any help would be great

I've driven the 2 litre petrol a lot and it's overwhelmed by the weight of the car and that's got 35bhp more. I'd avoid that particular combination.

A Passat 1.4tsi is a much better bet.

IMO that steering wheel looks like it has a lot more than 60,000 miles on it. If it doesn't have a service history backing up that milage I would walk away from that car.

Slow, uneconomical and I agree about the wheel. I'd avoid it tbh

    Folks,

Replacing a window regulator in a 2001 Skoda Fabia- is that likely to be an expensive job? How much would it roughly cost?

I may have found a car.... if that's not an expensive thing to fix.

    Thanks for the advise

Noticed the steering wheel alright. I will ask about the service history alright.

    What the price like?

Our current car is on its last legs so keen to get something soon which I know hampers my bargaining position

Well now, I didn't think so either but haven't there been cases where sometimes simple parts can be stupidly expensive :)

This is what I hope to buy, providing there's nothing obviously wrong with it:

I replaced one in my car cost €120 from main dealers. They are easy to fit as well.

Unusual car and there was no cars in breakers. I rang loads and then decided to go to main dealer and there was one in Dublin they said and I told them to order it and got it the next day.

Actually the same yokey is what's gone in the 206 drivers door, according to the mechanic. Dada will have a look in the breakers tomorrow and see, if not it's over €100 for a new one  Needs to be done asap anyway, NCT is Saturday week!

Again know them feels, my car is a bit awkward for parts too, due to the engine code apparently (B235E)
