    A few times.

Just wondering were the 'Carry On' films ever popular in America?

If you have no clue about any of the 4 topics on offer why pick the one that requires a very specific knowledge set.
Yer one used to work in a book shop, surely chick lit had more chance of tapping into something in her memory? Or Blackpool, places are always quite wide ranging in their questions.

No they weren't - too eccentrically British to be popular internationally. They did make one attempt to appeal to the American market when casting Phil Silvers (who had been successful as Sgt Bilko in the TV series) in "Carry On Follow That Camel". But that was in 1967 whereas the Bilko series had finished in 1960 so his poularity in the USA had long lapsed by then. And he didn't get on with the Carry On regulars (especially Kenneth Williams) so the experiment was never repeated.
