De Gea is never going anywhere. I won't allow it.

Looks like he`s not going to the World Cup anyway :pac:.

United are playing for pride, and city for the title. Predict a city win (am united fan)

Certainly. Remains to be seen whether they can return to title challengers with Moyes. Personally I don't mind a write off of a season. If next season was a proper run at all comps. My main worry was that Moyes would turn United into also-rans. Enough to keep him in a job but never *Really* threatening to win the title a la Arsenal, Spurs, Pool etc over last 10 years.

I have no doubt they will come back next season but utd fans have to accept they will never see constant success like they had with ferguson ever again. The man was doing miracles. He must have sold his soul to satan.

Bobby Charlton on the BBC site saying he's absolutely certain Utd picked the right man in Moyes.

Considering he hasnt spoken to Jack in about thirty years, it doesn't surprise me one bit that he's stubbornly standing his ground on this. He'd probably still say that if Moyes had us in a relegation battle next year.

He also stubbornly refused to endorse even the notion of Mourinho over Moyes. That's already been proven as clearly wrong less than a year on so i can't take him seriously at all.

Atleti can't afford him, he won't go to Real, Barca won't need him.

It's mildly possible that United thought about this a little bit before they spunked the loot on him.

There's a small possibility of a return to Atleti next Summer if he pushed as afaik he'd only have 1 year left on his contract and that'd significantly lower the fee. It'd also be dependent on de Gea accepting a smaller wage than his ability deserves unless Atleti make an exception for him.

Hopefully United tie him down sooner rather than later, it'd be negligence if they haven't already initiated new contract talks already.

Just like having Charlton on his side bought SAF a lot of time. :)

Not disputing that one bit. Charlton knows more about Utd than possibly anyone. Doesn't mean he's correct. Time will tell of course.

Not necessarily. Mind you Fergie was doing outrageous things with a team that was inferior to his rivals. It would take a lot of investment but there are managers out there that would be capable of delivering somewhat constant success. You only have to look at other top teams around the world to see that consistent success is possible (It just generally costs lots of money)

The academy hasn't been regularly pushing through talented prospects which are talented enough for United's level. Since the golden era of Giggs, Beckham, Nevilles, Butt and Scholes, who has there been? Danny and Adnan?

It could be argued that Everton have had more youth prospects come through their ranks in Moyes time, as well as better scouting given their budget, than United have had in the equivalent period with SAF.

Wes Brown, Darren Fletcher, John O'Shea, Johnny Evans, Rafael and Fabio (brought over at 16, but if we're including Januzaj).

Right, team prediction time. I reckon we will see De Gea, Rafael, Rio, Jones, Evra, Fellaini, Carrick, Valencia/Young, Mata, Welbeck, Rooney.

Valencia if fit, Young if not. I'd prefer Shinji out there.

Plenty of academy prospects have come through and been first team players for prolonged periods. If The Golden Era is the standard you'e setting then pretty much every academy, bar Barcelona's, is in need of an overhaul.

Our academy system is bringing through more than enough Premier League and Championship players for it to be evident that Moyes doesn't need to go changing it. Not every lad is going to be a United player, that's the reality of signing on with the club.

de geas girlfriend still lives in Madrid and he was born and raised in Madrid, not a chance he will go to barca.... can see him at Madrid when he is 26 and the best goalkeeper in the world when he moves...

Like his girlfriend will have any real say on him going to Barca or not
If he was going to join one of the big two, for his sake he'd be smart and opt for Barca if they did indeed come calling considering his Atleti roots.

I don't see De Gea getting into the Spain squad regularly till Del Bosque is gone.

Not that there's any problems between them but he clearly has his favourites in Casillas , Valdes & Reina.

Three experienced keepers, all whom have been part of Spain's golden generation and have big personalities. Was always going to be a difficult for him to breakthrough at this moment in time. If Spain do indeed go on to win the World Cup, there should be some wholesale changes and he should be made no.1.

He is correct to stand by Moyes and he is correct to support him been given time at United.

If he says that Moyes is the right man for United then he is also correct because he knows United from the inside out better than anyone and for longer than anyone, including SAF.

There are no guarantees in life, but hindsight won't make him any less correct, from my perspective of life anyway! :pac:

ManUtd: #mufc starting XI vs @MCFC: De Gea; Rafael, Ferdinand, Jones, Evra; Carrick, Cleverley, Fellaini; Mata, Welbeck, Rooney

    That's a 4-3-3 if I ever saw one.

Nice. Glad to see him try out different formations occasionally.

Could be a diamond midfield and two up easily enough too.

If Cleverley doesn't play well with TWO!!! midfielders with him then I really do give up on him.

Decent lineup. Can't really complain. Maybe Clev, but options are limited.

    That's true actually.

    Fellaini

    Carrick
    Cleverley

    Mata

    Rooney
    Welbeck

Why not play someone with actual talent, like Kagawa, in Cleverley's position? I doubt sitting in a three man midfield is such an alien concept to Shinji.

I like it even with Clev

Ah sure that would be using our best players.
