I don't see De Gea getting into the Spain squad regularly till Del Bosque is gone.

Not that there's any problems between them but he clearly has his favourites in Casillas , Valdes & Reina.

whats the likelihood that De Gea will leave once the big two from Spain come sniffing
He has improved considerably this year imo, with a rubbish defence and midfield in front of him
this wont have gone unnoticed in spain obviously
I suppose if Barca or Real came in with around £25m he'd be packing the bag?

Nah, he'll be with us for a good while yet.

The only madrid team i see him going to is athletico. The crap he would get moving to real.

The formation he suggested is no different to yours only it's Rooney in the middle rather than Mata. Welbeck is a big game player so would like to see him over Chico but the previous formation wouldn't be the worst thing in the world imo so long as Carrick and Fellaini spread out a bit.

Exactly. On paper it looks silly, but if you understand, it's hardly going to be those players sitting in those positions getting overrun by City. Requires a certain shape (which I thought was obvious).

Mastered. It's brilliant, which is why I said 'if you United were able to play it'.

athletico will never afford him... and he will have played 6 years in England before he moves to Madrid and will be the Spanish no1 by then.... wont be a problem moving to real

It's mad to think the Liverpool game was only 9 days ago. So much has happened since.

I admire the positivity in here today. Can't say I share it though :(. I can't see us keeping Silva and Toure in check for the full game.

You have no idea the bitterness between Athletico and Real fans. Hes an Athletico Youth, the fans would never tolerate him moving to the arch rival. Barca would be a far easier move for him

Atletico have made a lot of money the last few years of transfers alone if they wanted to they could afford him

Real will go with one of their own keepers tbh and lopez has a few years left in him

No way de Gea is going to Barca - As Aguerooo points out Marc Andre Ter Stegen is nailed on to go there in the summer - I read last week somewhere that he's already passed his medical...

As for Madrid, Casillas and Diego Lopez are both 32 and there is no reason that either or both can't play till 40 for them!

That leaves us with de Gea until he's 31, and with the european championship, world cup, the 5 PL medals and the european cup that he will have won by then under the now-revered David Moyes, and the captaincy of Spain by then too, we'll be alright.

    I'm loving this positivity thing....

Atleti can't afford him, he won't go to Real, Barca won't need him.

It's mildly possible that United thought about this a little bit before they spunked the loot on him.

DeGea could end up at PSG or Monaco maybe if he keeps improving in fairness.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,902 ✭✭✭MagicIRL

If United turn things around, and I'm sure they will, with or without Moyes I'm not sure, then DeGea will stay. I think you're forgetting just how good United is as a club.

De Gea himself has indicated he will most likely return to Madrid before his career finishes, but has no intention of leaving the club anytime soon.

Think a few lads read that F365 feature and loosing the run of themselves with a bit of tosh the author put in.

He has seen it all before, more than once. He knows what he's talking about. :)

Having Fergie and Charlton on his side will buy him a lot of time, already has.

And Bobby will be aware of the work being put in behind the scenes, that was the main reason Fergie was kept for so long at the beginning of his tenure, the board could see the work being put in and knew the results would come with time.

I have no doubt United will be back, bigger better and hungrier than ever, maybe this season is the perfect tonic for them, get rid of the ones who were coasting and get the fight back in there to kick on and dominate again.

Yeah it's kinda depressing to hear but at the same time what people say publicly isn't always what they think.

Phil Jones first goal 40/1 pay for the weekend can't bring myself to back against United.

Is it possible to come back bigger and better than they were under ferguson.

Certainly. Remains to be seen whether they can return to title challengers with Moyes. Personally I don't mind a write off of a season. If next season was a proper run at all comps. My main worry was that Moyes would turn United into also-rans. Enough to keep him in a job but never *Really* threatening to win the title a la Arsenal, Spurs, Pool etc over last 10 years.

I can't understand where people are getting all the positivity from. I can't see anything other than a humiliation for United tonight. God I'd love to be wrong, but City by two or three goals seems pretty realistic.

If losing a game by 2 goals is humiliation, there isn't a side in world football that has any dignity left.

Just like having Charlton on his side bought SAF a lot of time. :)

Fergie was working toward removing a drinking culture from within the dressing room and building a youth setup that could provide us with the core of a future team.

Moyes has taken over the Premier League champions with state of the art training facilities, a brand new medical center and an academy that is regularly pushing through talented prospects.

The less changes Moyes makes behind the scenes the better for me. The system with which the club is run has been in no way a problem.

The academy hasn't been regularly pushing through talented prospects which are talented enough for United's level. Since the golden era of Giggs, Beckham, Nevilles, Butt and Scholes, who has there been? Danny and Adnan?

It could be argued that Everton have had more youth prospects come through their ranks in Moyes time, as well as better scouting given their budget, than United have had in the equivalent period with SAF.
