Hopefully the weather will be ok for us Saturday. Apart from a few hours Thursday it looks to be dry enough all week. So far we have 21 signed up and I have one traveling with me so last push for numbers, I'd like to let the club know by tomorrow or Thursday.

We'll make the call on placing / bunkers etc on Saturday morning when we get there but if things stay the way they are I thing we'll stick to lift / clean / place until full summer rules come in everywhere. As for the tees - I reckon the yellows for the day but again, this can be decided on Saturday morning.

Will also need a bit of help from someone who as played here before in deciding the holes for longest drive / nearest to the pin.

Not playing in this Boards outing but played there yesterday. Definitely have relief everywhere. Portumna themselves were only having placing in the fairway but every tee shot be it in fairway or rough got muck on it, ridiculous not having a drop in the rough with the conditions. Bunkers were fine, no problem with them.

Closest to the pin has to be the 18th right up beside the clubhouse. If ye want a fun long drive hole could pick the 11th. They are building a new tee box so the men are now playing from the ladies, will get close to the green with a good hit (although I'm sure a few of ye will fly over it ...).

Permission slip granted:D Roll on all the penalty shots:rolleyes:

Hopefully no rain between here and Sat and we get the course in top condition.

One thing we are hoping for on Saturday is that all groups will go around in less than 4hrs as we plan on going out in 3 balls. Can we urge everyone to pick up when they are out of a hole.

Does that include going for a hole in one on a par 5 after 2 balls OB :P

Yes lads - there is talk that lads are sticking in awful estimations on their permission slips - " I'll be home by 430 to 5 love" :o

looks like we might get the odd shower, but not looking too bad for tomorrow at the moment:

and to bump my previous post, I'll have my GPS with me that has a mark function. So if we do want to try get a measure on distances, there will definitely be at least one group out there that can get some numbers (don't know why I'm volunteering this, as I know it'll just result in me inevitably depressed at how short I hit :o )

    space.

I'll do it on my group. Just go with long drive hole only.
    then we have same conditions.

yes poor sample but less complex.

    I'll be hitting 5 iron .

Dont forget to run the 2's club this weekend!

Don't want a fiasco like last weekend! grrrr!

Cheers Fix. Yeah, club selection will be entirely linked to the hole itself & the likelihood of putting in a score.

If you're standing on the 15th hole with 7 points in total then driver will be out. If you've 35pts standing on the 15th & 5 iron is the smart club...then I guess the group will have a shorter average drive :D

Is it too late to put my name in ?

I'm still hoping to hit 5 iron longer than most drives from reading the stuff on here ;):p:D

Space, he hits his 5 iron further that most will hit their drivers and it is usually more accurate.

I hope you are all scared lads.... I had 47 points.

    This week....

    Over two rounds...

Seriously considering getting a Tiger back ache before tomorrow.

Probably played one of the best rounds this day last week. What a difference a week makes.

PAR - in fairness it looked mad out today - post up in other thread.

Was in work saying - it looks nice - but at times hard work.

    Lads what is longest hole,

Was thinking about this again - go for 2 holes -

    Hole 8 looks good

lads what is longest drive hole - that will be 2nd hole for measuring.

I would suggest either holes 9 or 15 for longest drive and 18 for nearest the pin.

So Space 9 and 15 for us - nothing to do with longest drive or society - just an experiment. If others want to do other groups please do.

To remember we will think of 9:15 in the morning - or just 9 and 15 :)
