Is this a regular thing from Sony?

I rarely remember a time when Xbox Live was down on my 360.

This is only the third time this year, usually happens once a month.

It's usually not this bad in fairness, both in length of time and the timing itself. I've been on PSN for years now and I could count the number of times I've been affected by network maintenance on one hand.

Oh we will have another 9 this year :p plus the random inbetween maintenance that occurs without warning.

PSN and the PS4 has way too many error codes!

I've been trying to find most of them and list them here but it seems a lot just have no defined messages.

On a lighter note, i still can't connect, busy signal.

In fairness they always give a weeks fair warning that this is gonna happen, plus it was only meant to last 5 hours, it only started at 4 today our time.

It should be started during our night time. Xbox Live is always taken down at night time across the regions if I recall correctly. In the 8 years or so of Live i've never been down 12 hours..I think a 6 hour outage was the maximum in this time and I'd say in total it was less than this outage hence why I never minded paying a subscription fee for it.

The maintenance for the PS4 takes place in Japan most of the time they are working on it all night.

The witcher 3 has been delayed into 2015 now.

pity, was looking forward to it.

And you're not looking forward to it now?! :pac:

I'm actually generally if not pleased then at least supportive of delays - if it allows the developers to achieve what they want to, than all good. Would rather play a great game next year than a mediocre one this year.

They can test our patience of course. Team Ico, I'm looking at you!

For me it depends on how far out the original release date was, if the game is delayed a long time before releases then they've planned it well and it'll be better for it. But when it's a few weeks before release and then they delayed it, it doesn't say much for the dev.

I'm both bummed out and excited as hell as I really hope that the delay is to fine tune the gameplay and give the developers a little more time to deliver the best game possible. The first Witcher shipped as something of a mess and it was only after patches that it became the genre defining game we know and love. Hopefully this delay means that on launch day we will have the game at its best.

Well these type of games don't last long, the better looking they are, the shorter they are, so delaying it doesn't make much of a difference but to tell me it's eye candy and limited on the lastability ranking.

this goes for the last guardian too, it was a CGI made on a pc years ahead of it's time, you will not get that game for a long time and if it does arrive, it will just disappoint.

Not really sure what you're getting at here - I have no doubt The Witcher 3 will be a pretty vast, content rich RPG like the other games in the series have been. Would be odd if they suddenly changed that, especially given everything said and written about the game thus far. How do you know they're not simply attempting to realise their game world, mechanics and aesthetics to the fullest of their capabilities? Plenty of games have taken the opportunity of delays to add content - Rayman Legends, most recently, where a reluctant delay made a better game. Not that some of the best games ever made weren't extremely short anyway, but this is a big, bold RPG so I doubt it'll be lacking in content.

Well given Team Ico's previous games were Shadow of the Colossus and ICO (the latter of which I'd consider one of the most important and brilliant games ever made, without question), I'd be fairly confident they'll deliver something special if it ever gets released. 'If', unfortunately, being an increasing qualifier as the years go on.

I can safely say that the Witcher won't be one of those games.
Sure you need to at minimum have 2 playthroughs to see all the main content.

And thats not even talking about side missions.

The main story was confirmed to take a minimum of 50 hours, plus another 50 for side quests :D

I gotta say @borderfox, there's not a lot of sense in your logic regarding this delay. Your equation and conclusion have no baring on each other.

And then of course these other lovely posters have thoroughly obliterated your conclusion, so, back to the drawing board?

What i mean is the game size and story length, if it's gonna recycle content like AC4 or Thief then i can see myself finishing it very quickly, which leads me to be disappointed as other games as of late.

there are some exceptions that try to open the game to an online event system like the division that looks very promising with the chance of "Extra Cities being added" being mentioned and your squad/teams walking into other online teams either in a friendly or aggressive manner, this is exciting stuff, specially being snowdrop being the only true next gen engine so far been specifically for the ps4/Xbox one.

They were two great games that were PS2 games and graphically so, the last guardian is very different to the fog draw, almost enemy-less predecessors, the one great thing about those though was that they came at a time were games were made to be fun and playable and today it's all about 1080 at 60fps and sadly causes a lot of games to be massive but have damn all lifetime. Games should be fun to play without the need to be massive, resogun is a fine example, small and looks the boss and plays like one too.

How many PS4 games have you cleared the first day you've got them?

Why would i change my opinion to be like others, that just stops me being unique.

There has being a lot of delays on the PS4 and going by history and being a gamer for many years i can predict to my own assumption of course that it may or may not be a good thing that they feel the need to extend its development time as what happened to say ..eg: watch dogs which seems to degrade every month it was pushed back, yet developers claim it's to make it better?...and it's still not here yet!. Giving that CD Projekt RED is not an internal Sony studio i can give them the benefit of the doubt by not having a internal dev kit this past year or so working on the game, so perhaps it won't be a pc port after all, but the judge is still out on that and how REDengine 3 will perform on consoles.

It is quite unique to stand up and say, you've proven me wrong but dammit i'm not changing my mind :pac:

I've been a gamer for years too (dipped out a bit post ps2), I bet a lot of posters here have been gamers for years aswell...you're just like the rest of us really....one of us

Or the last of us , puntastic and all.

Yeah i still have my old consoles, including the ps2 and my own irish gamers site.

We all have our doubts and excitement about games, i guess i'm just more into semantics when it comes to saying i can spend 50 hours on mario 64 if i just keep running about like an eejit making mario slide along the ground on his belly.
