Twas all a bit whiny guitar for my liking when I turned it off :D

Is that Fleetwood Mac Albatross, or something else entirely? Should I turn it back on???

Fleetwood mac, alright. The beauty of these shows is you don't know what's next. (I sure don't know this!)

I'm usually a fan of bad haircuts, but even I couldn't defend Rod's effort here.

Just flicked it on and I see Rod Stewart

No thanks, Billy will do just fine!

(while I dig the house out looking for the S&G CD )

Woo, nearly guitar hero time. Think it's a good one tonight.

Yeah, I'm enjoying it tonight. A good mix of tempo and styles.

    Bad timing, I'll admit!

    Good luck with the search!

Have heard of this Ry Cooder fella before, but not heard him. I love good bottleneck playing.

Try to. I suppose you could say i'm learning at the moment.

    Do you?

You never stop learning, one of the fun things about it.

Yep, play for my own kicks really, mainly low-key acoustic finger-picking stuff.

I always associate that Quo song with this clip Edit: It's two kids doing a copy. ah well.

And never happy with how much you've learned!

I'm doing rgt grade 7 next month. Part of why i love guitar heroes is because i sit here with my guitar trying to pick out licks etc. Not having much joy with Johnny Winter (partly because I'm distracted by his scarves hanging out of his arms).

The Programme Editor who gets to choose the songs for these shows has a great job.

It's his belly top I found unnerving, someone shudda told him. :D

I never took instruction, but it's something that interests me tbh. I'm an ok player, but the theory is something I've never tackled. Fahey cover below, twiddled by meself & may not be everyone's cuppa.

    Edit: bad link fixed

A big part of why i started taking the exams was to force me to learn the bits i didn't want to learn! Made me much better. I'll check out that link after this show.

G'wan the Lizzy (and Ireland's most played song!)

Only real knowledge I have of Lofgren is his guitar work on Neil Young's 'Tonights the Night'.

His playing was very staccato on that album, reminded me of JJ Cale a little bit.

I only know him from The Boss, but he often turns up on bbc4, and it's always good.

Gonna record this - Wilson Pickett, Keef, Duane Allman & possibly Paul Simon, quite a line-up.

    Night Donie, enjoyed that.

That's really nice dude! Really nice.

I'm not much use at fingerstyle, that kinda thing makes me want to play it more.

Everyone else on the thread should check it out. :-)

Really? Fantastic. I never go into hmv without dropping at least €20. Those of us who still use cds in the car are very grateful to see them back.

Plus they are sooo cheap. Got Led Zep at the bbc for €8 in dundrum the other week.

Good luck to HMV, but the only way I see them surviving is to SERIOUSLY reduce the price of cd's.

There's now a chain of shops here in the UK called That's Entertainment...

    www.thatsentertainment.co.uk

Expect to pay no more than £2.99 for a cd. Granted, some are second hand, yet cheaper than buying the album on iTunes.

    Has Wilko died?

I know he chose not to have cancer treatment, but I didn't know he'd passed.
