Thetechguys image, i see you referred to timer for recording, this could be where im going wrong, cos i just hit record and not a timed record, so this may be why the box doesn't come out of standby, might give that a go tomorrow

I tested my image earlier, I pressed record and then put the box into standby. The record light on the front of the box disappeared but when I turned back on the box the recording was still recording. Try it there and when you wake up the box press folder, you should see the red icon beside your recording.

I'll set it for during the night both with just an ordinary record and a separate timed record on different programs and leave it in standby and see what happens

I've encountered a bug in Champions, it's happened the last 2 mornings. When I put the box to standby I get no display when I wake it, it needs a reboot to get picture on the TV but I get sound (SPDIF) and the box is working away fine in the background. Maybe it's CrossEPG running during the night that causes it

Might be the handshake with the hdmi between the box and tele? Did you turn off and on the tv before rebooting the box?

Have you done a software update ? I think the updated software seems to be far better at coming out of standby.

No worries. My Sky has another 10 days before it runs out.

I've spent too much time trying to get the box running so far so I'm going to power off the box and work on it again when the the Sky subscription runs out.
Hopefully by then there will be an updated image somewhere that I could try.
I just hope its not faulty.

Old version added to the link, thanks to Gerry Wicklow.

I re-imaged TTGs image and re-set up everything.
I converted a 32GB USB stick to ext3 and I have all the TV functions working grand now and I'm very impressed with the system.
I just stay away from RTE player and the PKteam blue options as they cause green screen.

I've been taking a look at the system over telnet and the load average is pretty high on the box. I was wondering if there are any processes I could kill or disable from startup?
Specifically "oscam" (which resides in /var/emu/oscam_8699) below seems to be using a lot of memory.
Is this a process I can safely disable (rename and reboot maybe?) on the box without causing any issues, and re-enable later if needed?
I know discussions about oscam are not allowed, but this is more of a question about disabling a process.
I am only using the box to access FTA and Saorview channels and I believe that "oscam" is not required in this scenario but I may be wrong?

Hey TTG, why are you using such an old version of Oscam. It's up to r9564 now. I have r9546 and a few others bundled with my image

Never had a problem with it so I didn't see a need. Is there much advantages to a newer one?

When i press red nothing happens.

Looks like I have the same issue as you on my AA2+, what box have you?

I first successfully downgraded Spark to 1.2.51_E2_Boot_Upgrade.
Then installed the 'plugin_e2upgrade.s' plugin via usb, box auto-rebooted.
Put TTG's image on usb stick (Kingston), booted up and went to plugins in the UI, could see it listed. Clicked ok to try start it up, screen flicks black briefly but icon for the plugin stays red, rather than green (doesn't load). That other Calculater plugin always loads ok.
I tried installing it via FTP directly into root\plugin\var\bin\ also, same deal.
Weird thing is if there is no usb attached I can at least load the plugin-in, i.e. it goes green after I click ok. However of course you cant launch/use it as no USB attached! (you need to have usb inserted before launching)

Anyone know where to grab a log file to see what's going on?
ps - also tried a factory reset, same deal afterwards..

Did you get the plugin folder from MY link ?

Something strange just happened with TechGuy's latest image, when I pressed volume + or volume - I get the menu coming up on screen, the volume control bar has disappeared. Anybody any ideas?

Were you messing with key mapping?
Give the box a reboot and see.

I never mess with something I don't understand, seriously no I've never gone near key mapping! I did a factory reset but no joy!

    Yup, it's same file, plugin_e2upgrade.s with a SHA1 hash of bbf4fe938d898b7569dd2d130682d89956c3449e.

I might give this method a lash, anyone verify it works? - http://www.technical-features.com/vb/showthread.php?8-Upgrade-Enigma2-by-USBUpgrade-Enigma2-by-USB

    thanks.

Yeah often use it. If you see T TO or words to that effect there's something wrong and it can't find correct files. Be sure file and folder names are exactly as shown without spaces or weird characters.

    thanks.

I know it's the same file but it will NOT work to just copy it over. Take the WHOLE plugin folder from my link and put it on a USB stick and insert it into the box when running Spark. It will ask you if you want to install the plugins - say Yes.

So let the box / Spark install the plugins for you.

I have dine this on 8900/Alien1, Alien2 and Alien2+ boxes. Boxes did NOT need the 1.2.51 specisl version of Spark to be installed.

There were performance issues with it before on HDMU, but I think that's down to the image itself, not the skin

Hi all. Just purchased the Amiko Alien 2 last week and slowly beginning to realise that you may need a PHD in Satellite receivers to get it working properly ! I see this thread is over 300 pages and I have gone through many of these ( as well as all the other forums) to find a solution to my problems. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.

    1. Have installed the crossepg plugin,I press the red button to go to openTV providers but there is nothing there. So I go to openTV providers by F1 on the EPG. Warning comes up saying No USB device connected. There is a USB connected as it was used to install the crossepg plugin earlier.

    2) Trying Enigma 2 and going by earlier posts on this thread , it does not recognise my wifi dongle. I was hoping to install this so as to have as close an EPG to sky so my kids can navigate it. Is there any way around this now ? Running ethernet cables would be tricky !

Any help would be great !

Use homeplugs instead of the wifi dongle, just make sure to plug straight into a wall socket and not into an extension.
