Love it. The audience look like zombies, bizarrely.

    No accounting for taste.

Saw the modern Lizzy opening for the fake GNR last year. They rocked much harder than I expected.

    DedicationThinLizzy.jpg

Probably the best compilation album ever.

From the sublime to the ridiculous.

(I mean that silly dance troupe thing, not Queen).

My favourite Queen song. Guaranteed to pick up my mood!

Watching The Skids earlier, it was a strange line up. Richard Jobson, the future Mr Mariella Frostrup, and Stuart Adamson from Big Country. Jaysus, Adamson had more talent in his little finger than Jobson had in his whole body. It's a shame that Adamson went far too soon.

Just thinking what songs I can rely on to pick me up if I'm pissed off...

Don't stop me now is one, others that spring to mind are The song remains the same, Digital Love by Daft Punk and Born to Run by The Boss.

    Any others?

Good question. All sorts really, of the top of my head ... Getting Better by The Beatles ... Oliver's Army ... Up The Junction ... Please Please Me. I'd probably give you totally different answers tomorrow

Ha, was gonna include Oliver's Army. Getting Better is a great shout.

Probably Jump by Van Halen too (rubbish lyrics aside...Might as well jump?? Where? Why???)

God the BeeGees really suck. Badly.

Is this meant to be an interpretation of the lyrics?

If you were in a band who made the charts, you would have made it your business to perform live, rather than have silly dances like this.

Not even a mention of Sid's death ...

Top Of The Pops Fax ‏@TOTP1979 Feb 27
Over the credits: “Somethin’ Else”, by a Lydon-less Sex Pistols, with Sid Vicious (who died exactly a month before this #TOTP) on vocals.

Strange times. Can't imagine that did a huge amount for record sales.

    Ah, here!

Didn't we see this last week?

Never mind, I'm happy enough to lister to Karen Carpenter again.

Edit: Chubbs! The way I see it, we HAVE only just begun!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,444 ✭✭✭✭Skid X

Deja vu, here. I think the same programme was on last week. Sloppy work.

Ah well, I think I'll call it a day. The Marvin Gaye and Chess programmes were good, some good inspiration for Youtube hunting there! Back here soon :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,779 ✭✭✭✭Ol' Donie

    Party on, Skid!

    Yeah, youtube time for sure.

Or Wayne's World. Haven't watched it in ages!

I just remembered this one, I found it on a compilation album 'Motown meets The Beatles' a few years ago

I love it, Gladys Knight gets every last drop of emotion out of the song.

    Cheers Donie!

Muscle Shoals looks good. Among a myriad of contributors, I'm very pleased to see Keith Richards again. I really enjoyed his contributions to Blues America recently

Being a fan of Mott The Hoople, you know what I'll be watching! I think 'When Albums Ruled The World' has been on before, but still a great programme though!

I will check out Muscle Shoals later.

This chart documentary is decent enough. Coincidentally, 2FM brought back their Irish Chart Show tonight after a few years absence.
