You have 100+ points to make up. To be honest I would go into gamble mode. Hold on to Lallana and Hazard as I can see them continuing their scoring and you don't want to fall further behind. Boruc is a good differential over Mig, and cheaper. Baines will outscore Coleman and Everton have good fixtures and DGW's coming up. Baines is also a hidden captain choice that could do you well. Mata and Nolan are also worth holding on too. Ade is worth getting in, ignore the fact that the guy top of your league has him. Get in a Chelsea defender for Sagna after this week.

You're at 170k at the moment. If it was me I'd be aiming at top 50k or bust. 60 points can be easily made up over 13 weeks, but not if simply pick the top performing players. You're actually in a decent position with no City players. Get Ade in for Bony this week, then maybe look at bringing in Aguero for Suarez in a few weeks in preparation for the City DGW's. Time to take risks.

Excellent advice Rory. I have a second spreadsheet at work which compares the players on all our teams, highlights the players I have in common with each, who are the current good differentials I have, who are the players at least 3 of them have that might do well and finally the players I've identified as good transfer targets.

And yes, I am strongly considering Aguero for Suarez.

Your post summed up almost all my points. The transfer that is screaming at me this week is indeed Bony to Adebayor.
Can u get ade in for bony. Id be inclined to keep sagna for the next two weeks sagna, baines, cahill is your best 3 at the back for those 2 gws. Sagna may then have a dgw in gw 31 week swansea at home and chelsea away. If subsequently its announced that the dgw isnt gw 31 Id transfer sagna out in gw 29 if not Id hold him till gw 31.

Yep, Ade is my transfer of choice. Only the league leader has him right now. My second transfer was actually to get Ivan in, but I think I may look at waiting a little.

One question: is the second place worth anything? I mean would you prefer finishing second or go all out for first at the risk of finishing 5th or 6th or even worse?

If your second place is worth something I would play it "safe enough". You have 30 pts to make. Captain alone can make that up.
If you want to go for first then follow roryc's advice.

    As for your questions.
    1) No I don't think so.

    2) FFS "next 6 ticker" is your firend ;).

[/INDENT]Alternatively, Adebayor is on form in a team which is playing much better now and which is going to push for a top 4 finish. But his fixtures are pretty tough for GW29-32. That being said I'd get him in for the option playing it "safe enough".

First is worth 600 euro, second is 300 euro and third is 120 euro. As much as I'd like to defend my title, it's a massive ask. Having said that, I pulled back a 96 point lead with 9 weeks to go about 4 years ago.

I'd be very happy with second so I think a solid team with some high quality differentials is the way to go. I think Mata, Baines, Sturridge and Nolan are capable of big things.

    Great advice too, thanks!

Very interesting discussion. Some very clever advice which could apply to most people trying to close out a league.

Im currently third in mine, only about 30 points back and both the lads ahead of me gonna suffer in GW29, one only has 4 for it currently. Hoping that if I gain there and play the DGWs properly I've a great chance. €450/200/100 for top three.

Just curious, why have you struck thru Yoshida, is Lovren close to coming back? I see he was called up to Croatia squad for the friendlies in March so maybe he'll be back by GW29?

Already done Giroud to Adebayor, now considering Sterling to Nolan. For main reason have 3 Liverpool players with a blank week coming up, and dont want to get rid of Suarez or Sturridge.

    Thoughts.

Don't know why you'd dump Sterling with a home game against Swansea this week though....

spot on advice. By all means get in nolan next week if west ham play gw 29 which you will know next gw. I dont see the rush to offload players with good fixtures just because they have a blank coming up. Wait till the blank or a bad fixture to offload them.

Looking at GW29, I currently have 6 players that should play.

As someone else mentioned, palace have no blank GW's and also a DWG coming up - does anyone know when this might be?

I'm looking at the following transfers (currently have 2 FT and 0.5 in bank)

    Mannone to Speroni
    Johnson to Zaha

    No transfers for GW28

    and then for GW29

    Skrtel to Collins
    Koscielny to Olsson (Norwich)

That should give me 10 players with no points hit.

I've decided that for GW29 I'm going to bench (and not transfer out): Suarez, Sturridge, Yaya and De Gea. Coleman will be the other non playing player I will have - I may decide to take a 4 point hit to get cover for him - not too sure yet.

Any opinions on the above transfers? any better alternatives?

I would just do the Johnson to Zaha transfer this week and save the 2nd one. There is nothing wrong with the Mannone to Speroni transfer but I assume you'll be starting De Gea anyway this week so I don't see the need to swap your sub 'keeper this week?

I've no real standout transfer I need to make this week but with 2FT I need to use one, so it'll probably be a boring shuffle of Gabbidon to Ward.

I see James Chester might be available (75%). Good news. Not a moment too soon!:D

My strategy this season is pretty different to previous years. I've laid a number of people 5/2 pre-season to beat me, and while most have put up the usual 3 month pre-Christmas challenge before dropping back, one lad has had a phenomenal year and has lead me the entire way. He finishing 378k last year and yet is currently sitting in 1,496th. The good news for me is I have cut the gap from 50 points to 17 since December. Pretty important as its a four figure swing on the result!

And while most would aim to have a different team to a rival, my transfer this week is to dump Sagna for Azpil, who my rival has. This is along with having Mert, Coleman, Mata, Lallana, Hazard, Sturridge, Suarez and Ade in common. So this week it's likely we will have 9/11 identical first 11, which I'm fine with. I'm confident I can beat him from having previous experience of double gameweek madness, there's no need for me to take unnecessary risks yet, especially with captaincy!

For the 1st time this season I'll be banking it!
On adebayor......if you were Tim Sherwood what would you do regarding Europa league........he may pick a stronger team than many people expect .....

Ade didn't travel. Along with 6 or 7 other regulars.

According to Gary Jacob on twitter spurs are without Lloris, Kaboul, Lennon, Walker, Defoe & Ade for tonights game so they are definitely concentrating on the league for now.

He has to give Soldado a chance anyway. He did cost a fair bit so even if trying to sell him in the Summer they could do with a couple of performances from him.

Looked at Stokes upcoming fixtures. Norwich (A), West Ham (H), Villa (A), Hull (H). Thought to myself I'll have a cheeky look at Shawcross, their leading defender by an absolute mile and always capable of a goal...

He's averaged less than 1 point per game over the past 10 games

    Why is Ade yellow flagged?

Let's have a game. Did FutureGuy transfer in Adebayor this morning? Yes or No?

The answer is: No I didn't. Thank fook. He's gone up by 0.3m already so I'm in no rush to buy him. Will wait for team news.

I would say he was yellow flagged as he did not travel. I'm hoping it's only a rest for him.

Every one of the players left behind by Spurs have been yellow flagged. They couldn't be that unlucky with injuries.

    I bet he'll be fine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,511 ✭✭✭✭CSF

He's yellow flagged because Sherwood has come out and said he has a niggle. I'd still fully expect him to start.

Was thinking to bring him in for Sterling. Is he guaranteed to play or was it temporary placement due to injury?

Any of the games I've watched he has been playing the holding midfielder role and allowing Dembele/Paulinho to get forward. Definitely don't think he'll be hauling in much more than 2 points most weeks.

Decided to bank the transfer this week so I'll have 2 going into next week. Was going to ship Eriksen but I'll just move him on the bench and bring in Noone. Reckon Cardiff could get a result against Hull.

Took your advice on the one transfer, but did the goalkeepers as think Johnson might do something against arsenal.
