But what if both Chelsea and Liverpool win in the FA Cup at the weekend?

What about it? It won't affect the following gw

My total team value (109.5) isn't good enough for me to not care about value, but I need to achieve balance, and this wouldn't do that.

In fairness, in spite of a team value of £112.8m I'm still caring about it. Of course it's less important now than at the start of the season but with a more than chaotic calendar coming up I think the £0.1m or £0.2m profit gleaned here and there could make the difference to shape the best possible team for the blanks/DGWs.

No but it will affect subsequent GWs in due course. At this stage of the season you have to plan more than 1 GW ahead if you want to make strides. If not then it's like playing chess by planning for your next move only.

If you are not too bothered about your ranking then fair enough, but i thought that was the whole point of the game!

I have three playing subs from teams not affected. I'll be fine.

Swansea and Wigan would be the two I'd like to see through (to get Everton and Cardiff out)

Anybody got any trade secrets they would be prepared to share on preparing for DGW's?? My first exposure is fast approaching....

Your first exposure was Villa and Chelsea in GW1.

It's simple really, load up on double GW players if possible. If you have a quality player with 2 games, captain him!

Try to keep an extra transfer banked during this final period if at all possible to give you extra flexibility to change up the team, pending fixtures.

But don't overdo it, especially at the expense of 4 point hits. In DGWs, there's a greater risk of rotation and that expensive Chelsea defender you brought in for -4 might get rested for one game. It might also be pointless (literally!) to bring in a defender who plays for relegation strugglers. Choose your players wisely and be aware of what happens in the following weeks -- you might cripple your team for five GWs after by bringing in DGW players who'll be duds with difficult fixtures later.

Wouldn't so much call them "trade secrets", but here's a few ideas going through my head at the moment

    - two games in a week increases rotation risk, especially among teams involved in other competitions. So while you think you're getting two game weeks, you're really only getting 90 minutes.

    - Wingers and attacking midfielders seem to be the most liable to be rested. I'd never expect the likes of Oscar, Erikssen, Silva etc to play 180 minutes.

    - taking a 4pt hit for a transfer is much more sensible the further up the field you are. I wouldn't do it for a defender/keeper.

    - 4pt hit for someone you're going to make captain is definitely worth it.

    - bringing a player in for one week only and then out again probably costs you -8 (or a transfer you could have made elsewhere), so you have to be sure your player coming in scores more than once to break even.

    - Team value doesn't matter much end of year, but for those that do watch it, easy to make money these weeks as teams with DGW's will be more popular.

    - I suppose a key aswell is what players you want to have after the DGW. If you're thinking about a player anyway, and he has a DGW, that should make him double as attractive, with the opposite if you fancy getting rid of him the following week.

Just my meandering thoughts. Love to hear feedback

Should have added this. I'd prefer one game out of a player from the top 6, rather than 2 games from a player from the bottom 6

In my opinion, the key is a careful mid-term planning. For example, try to know in advance which transfers you're gonna make for the following 3-4-5 GWs. Of course injury and suspension could mess the whole thing up. You may have a look at the suspension tightrope on FFS website to reduce the risk to the minimum.
Hopefully we'll know quick after the FA Cup when the games will be re-arranged to have all the parameters in our hands.

Not necessarily. To me, it mainly depends on the relative fixtures (and form) for the DGWs and beyond, e.g. WH, Sunderland & Cardiff have favourable home fixtures 'till the end of the season. So getting one of their defender as one of your cheapie at the back may well work out. Like what happened this past GW for example with Collins, Turner getting big points.

also be very careful who you transfer out because they may have a blank gw especially if you have money tied up in them make sure you have a plan for getting them back in. This happened with bale last year people transferred him out ahead of his blank and other players impending doubles and it took a few transfers to work him back in when he got a brace in the next game. Id also agree its best to have a spare transfer facing into it. Having 2 transfers this week is the ideal scenario for after the fa cup games when things should be a lot clearer although its a bit too late for that advice at this stage.

Thanks to all for the suggestions, very helpful.

I unintentionally stumbled into a very successful combination a few weeks ago of Suarez, Gerrard and Sturridge which will have to be broken up, Sturridge is definitively the out performer currently but hard to see myself shipping Suarez

That would suit me as well.

I have 1 Arsenal player and 1 City.
I have 3 Chelsea and 2 Liverpool though.

Looking at Sagna OUT for Azpiliceuta.

Would have preferred to hold on to Sagna but last night's FA Cup result has made a mess of that. Would have been great to have Sagna and Mert for another few weeks, especially as they faced Swansea at home in GW29... Oh well, have to change plans accordingly. I've reduced my rivals lead to 17 points and he has Azpil too so I guess it makes our teams even more similar. Will likely have 8 or 9 of the same first 11 next week. I'm happy enough with this as I think I can grind away at his team over the next 13 weeks. My differentials are stronger than his, hopefully this is shown in the end of season points tally! Just need to make back a point or two each week to beat him...

Any Benteke owners thinking of holding onto him for another week?

I was originally going to transfer him out for Sturridge but now with Liverppol having a blank in a few weeks I might keep him. Also Newcastle are bound to leak in more goals again this week. Im keeping the faith with benteke for now (even though it has hurt not having Sturridge over the last few weeks!)

Villa have a blank in GW29 as well.

I'm going to see what he does against Newcastle first. If he does nothing, he's gone. Benteking a chance.

More or less made my mind up to get rid for Ade. Seems a no brainer but kinda fancy Benteke to do well v Newcastle.

Early prepping for GW28/29, am thinking Giroud out, Ade in, will still have free transfer left, need a Utd player for then, surely they would have to get a result against WBA, surely.

I've given Benteke a reprieve. Swapping Dzeko for Ade and keeping Tekkers for another week or two. If he can't score against either Newcastle or Norwich then there's no hope for him!

What's the story with Dawson, has he lost his spot? He sat on the bench for Tottenham last time out.

Is Dzeko going to be rotated in for next weekend's game?
