I really regret taking a -4 this week. I wasn't thinking at all as it was completely unnecessary. As well as being unnecessary, I ended up taking out the wrong player anyway.

Wes Brown OUT, Bruce IN is more than likely going to be my transfer this week

    Mannone out, Adrian in.

Surely it's a must to do nothing transfer wise till after the FA Cup ties?

Obviously. It would be borderline retarded to make any transfers before the weekend! I have 2 FT's and would be more than happy not to change my starting 11 this week. Any changes I make will be in preparation for GW28/29. Really need Chelsea to get past City in the FA Cup on Saturday, don't want to be forced into dumping Yaya and Zab.

Same here, 2FTs as well but waiting on the FA cup results. Plenty of idiots pulling the trigger already before tonights games are even finished. I wouldn't care about such foolish players but i hate that they drive up and down the price of players at unnecessary times.

But we're happy about that when it is players we have in our team. Other players playing the game badly is undoubtedly an advantage to the rest of us. If everyone played the game sensibly it would make all our private leagues significantly harder.

Anyone who pulls the trigger before the FA Cup games are done should have their FSA forum posting rights withdrawn.

With the uncertainty around games being called off over the next few weeks, injuries over cup weeekend, and team value not mattering as much in the last 2 months, you'd be mad to make a change this week. Even moreso if you do it before tonights fixtures.

Hoping to just bank the transfer this week.

Same. It would take an injury/suspension to a City player (tonight or in the cup game) to make me pull the trigger on any transfer and even at that I'd be waiting until the last possible minute.

Careful now, you may force my hand in bringing in Charlie Adam :pac:

I'd like to hold it, but my defenders may need some more attention. Lots of football ahead before we have any idea what direction we should be heading in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,600 ✭✭✭roryc

Preferably I won't make any transfers until the 22nd Feb. A bad injury to a key player tonight or at the weekend is the only thing that would get in the way of this tbh - I've built up a team value of just under £113m, now is not the time to be worrying about price changes!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,685 ✭✭✭✭wonski

4.2m sitting in the bank after last week transfer (RVP to Sturridge) is tempting but will leave it to have 2FT in time for blank gameweek.
With FA Cup ahead this thread is going to be very quiet...

Aguero should be back for GW27, worth taking in or at least saving a transfer for GW29 to get him in

Very likely GW30 though meaning it is too far away for me to actively plan for

He was just using hyperbole although it is incredibly risky to make a transfer before the GW has finished never mind the FA cup games. Only a team in need of serious overhaul or incredibly low team value should involve early transfers at this stage of the comp. If you just required a tweak then it makes more strategical sense to wait until Sunday at the very least.

I'm going to be sick. Cahill picked up a calf strain last night.

I think I have close to 25 injuries/suspensions in the last 12 gameweeks. Just got him for Evans.

I have him too but he has 10 days to recover so might be ok for the next game.

I agree with that, definitely risky. Doesn't have a bearing on somebody's overall Fantasy Sports competence though.

He misses GW28 for definite and may (hopefully) miss GW29. After injury occurring when he was only recovering from the December injury, he'll be eased in very slowly IMO.

I was just going to post something similar, the cup game in which he played 90 was the cause of this present injury i think and even Pellegrini hinted so.

This time he will be wrapped up in cotton wool for the bigger games as he is crucial to them, more important than Yaya in my eyes.

I disagree though, the timing of transfer during crucial periods with fixture uncertainty is a testament to the level of competency of FPL players. More experienced players know the importance of timing a transfer correctly. Looking through the transfer threads you can see people aghast at transfering people in only to see them injured/banned, games called off etc.

Those who plan and time their transfers over the next few weeks will make big strides over the trigger happy crowd.

I get that but I'm talking about Fantasy Sports as a whole. The OP, hyperbole or not, mentioned that you should be banned from posting in the FSA forum, not just within FPL threads. I'm saying that not being competent at FPL has no bearing on overall Fantasy Sports competence. You can't tar one guy with everything. I'm a very competent Fantasy Baseball player. FPL is secondary to me. Just because I might be a casual player at FPL doesn't mean I'm not a competent Fantasy Player. Hence my outrage at the suggestion that the whole forum should be out of bounds.

I'll send you a PM because this thread doesn't need to hear anymore about this.

On topic: I have made my GW27 transfer. I'm already resigned to finishing worse off this year than last, I'm behind in the leagues that matter and my bad start means I'm very unlikely to finish any higher than last year.

I'm also resigned to having to take a -4 hit if anybody gets injured tonight or at the weekend. The fact is though that the guy I transferred out is 3rd sub for me this week, so it's not like I'd be stuck if his replacement or someone else gets injured.

It was clearly meant in jest. I could have as easily have said "should be hung drawn and quartered for making transfers this early", clearly it's not to be taken literally.

    Apologies

Even more important now to watch them transfers with Everton/Palace, and City/Sunderland postponed tonight. More GWs to come.

    Probs will do:

    Benteke-->Ade and Suarez-->Studge.

Somewhat wary about the Suarez/Studge swap. It feels inevitable, but also not.

Keeping faith with Suarez and this is just the snippets that the BBC website came up with, but seems like he was quite unlucky tonight not to pick up something...

Someone creating chances like this is not going to stay dry for long :D
    CLOSE! - Fulham 2-2 Liverpool

Oooh, that was close. Luis Suarez picking out Philippe Coutinho but the midfielder's shot goes wide. All hands on deck for Fulham now as Daniel Sturridge is also played in on goal but David Stockdale is there in the nick of time.
    21:33:
    Fulham 2-2 Liverpool

More drama at the Cottage as Fulham keeper Maarten Stekelenburg is flattened while saving at the feet of Luis Suarez. The Netherlands stopper, sporting a big shiner below his eye, is replaced by David Stockdale for the final few minutes.
    21:18:
HITS THE WOODWORK- Fulham 1-1 Liverpool

Luis Suarez has done everything but score in this second half now - picking up the ball on the edge of the box and lashing a shot against the base of the post. Liverpool are throwing the kitchen sink around at the Cottage now.
    21:16:
    CLOSE!- Fulham 1-1 Liverpool

Edge of your seat stuff at the Cottage - Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez linking up well on the right and the latter firing a centre across the face of goal, but there's nobody around to put into an empty net. Not even Kolo.
    21:07:
    Fulham 1-1 Liverpool

Luis Suarez is going through the gears now - whipping in a 40-yard free-kick which is inches away from sneaking in at the far post.
    20:15:
    GREAT SAVE!- Fulham 1-0 Liverpool

Liverpool fighting back now - Luis Suarez's deflected shot being superbly saved by Maarten Stekelenburg. But it's all just a sideshow to the real entertainment being provided by Kolo Toure - the defender absolutely smashing into Phil Dowd as he made his way back from a corner and proceeding to send the referee flying. Phil's been Kolo'd.

Is Aguero due back for this GW?

    He may feature but I wouldn't expect him to start;

    http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/sergio-aguero-fernandinho-miss-manchester-6695345

Tbh I now have Suarez, Sturridge and Ade who are performing well so not sure where I'd fit him in. The ways things are looking at the minute he'd be a straight swap for Suarez.

If City beat Chelsea and Aguero comes off the bench at any stage I'll be transferring in Adebayor for Dzeko, probably on the Friday once the post-Euro match team news is out. Ade guaranteed pretty much to have gone up the maximum 3 rises by then, but hopefully Dzeko won't go down further than the .1 I can afford to absorb on him. Probably he won't.

Getting rid of Eriksen, will wait a while before I do it though, thinking of bringing in Wilshere. Hoping not too many people jump on the Ade wagon. He's been a nice differential for me the past few months.

Plus Johnson missing GW 28..I'm covered everywhere else

Took -4 hit with Ade, Gerrard in --- Johnson, Benteke out

Why are people making transfers already! Makes no sense.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,798 ✭✭✭Mr. Incognito

    Ozil and Dzeko Out

Gerrard and Ade in for -4.

Swapping Ade out for Dzeko has cost me 20K places. From 40K to 60K.

1 and a blank as opposed to 8 and 16.

I had to make the transfer as had just enough to cover it and Gerrard and Ade are both due to rise.

Plus there is the stress every week if he is going to start or not. City are just too prone to rotation.

Broke my heart to let Ozil go but he is just ineffective without Walcott or Ramsey playing off him.

I HATE taking hits but had to be done for the long term good.
