Minimal noise and disruption.....160k people.... a bit of traffic and noise

The logic of this argument just astounds me......

You have just proved you have no idea what you are talking about. Most of the deconstruction of the stage will be done at night as was the case when U2 last played with lorries driving by at 0400 in the morning

U2 had a 360 degree mega-stage purpose build for their concerts. There will be a normal stage for Garth Brooks, won't take anywhere near as long to erect or remove.

Why would you have "clearly" "hit a nerve"? You said Cork city and Galway city are the countryside as if it was a fact, and to stir. It was just noted that you were wrong, nothing more.

Relax. The natives from the smallest capital city in Europe need some way to make themselves feel important.

    that'd be 400,000 people, ted.

It's only two of the 5 days that are in any (tiny) danger of being cancelled so thats 160k people

Its a city centre location traffic at night is to be expected from time to time.

Minimal noise and disruption, mostly during the day while all the dubs are hard at work.

Its very hard to have sympathy for the residents with their arrogant "we own the streets attitude" trying to ruin the plans of 160k people over a bit of traffic and noise in the evening for 5 days.

You hit the nail on the head there... so long as 160,000 people get their 3 hours of fun then f**k the residents, sure they only have to put up with it... Once... no twice... no three times... F**k no 8 times this year and if its allowed then 8 times every year and if we don't stop this intensification then it will be 10 next year 15 the year after and before you know it the O2 will be out of business and Croker will hold all concerts!!!

And for your information obnoxious... if we don't own the streets then neither do you our your line-dancing hill billy mates who will be up p1ssed drunk p1ssing on them littering them causing damage to residents private property... shouting and roaring thinking that they do...!!!
But as I said you don't give a sh1t so long as u get ur 3 hours of fun!!!

Again someone spouting when they don't know the facts... Last night a rep from Aiken stated that the concerts were going to take place on a "magnificent custom built stage that will one of the biggest in europe this year".

Now weldy please don't try to argue a point when you clearly don't know all the facts!!!

As its a once off event, the stage wont be taken down during the night. U2's stage had to be moved on to another venue, hence the blockade by residents last time and the work through the night.

This time the stage will be dismantled and taken away the next two days. they'd want to be quick about it, as All Ireland quarter football finals are the Sat/Sun.

Just the 7 days out of 10 from 25th July - 3rd August for us then

Abit of noise ? Have you actually heard the noise from concerts ? When I lived in ballybough you could hear concerts from the point depot if the wind blew the right way so it's not a little bit if noise .
How would you feel coming home to that after a hard day at work ? It would annoy the hell out of me . Also with all the extra people around it's not a small bit of traffic either .

It wouldn't bother me for the couple of days to be honest and would be long over before I'd be going to bed.

If you read the article properley the people are saying they don't want 5 nights of concerts and don't want the GAA / Aiken thinking they can buy their way out of it either .

"The most disturbing revelation to emerge from the meeting was the statement by Peter McKenna that a written agreement between the GAA and the local community in 2009 - agreeing to only three concerts per year - was to be ignored because "time moves on".

If that's true and the residents have it in writing, things are going to get very interesting.

so the residents staged a blockade effectively stopping the removal of the stage causing the work to be delayed until night costing people money and then complained because the work had to be done at night? and your surprised that i've no sympathy for the residents?

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.

The work was done during the night regardless. The resident's blockade prevented them from removing the structure which had already been dismantled.

What about your children? Would you tell your 2 year old son or 6 month old daughter to "suck it up it's only a few days"?

And you know this because you have seen the stage plans? Maybe you could share them with us. Brooks is relaunching his career and will want the world to see something spectacular so don't give it that bollox of being just a normal stage

I don't have any children but if I did It's not going to do anything on them for a few days, that's if they don't sleep through it.

People are far too precious about their children nowadays, a few years ago you wouldn't think twice to see a few children asleep in the corner of a pub on a Saturday night now if a child is seen up past 7pm there is nearly an inquiry into it.

That's your problem right there, you have no idea what we are on about because you think a quick bedtime story and a kiss on the forehead and young children will go softly off to sleep and hear no noises at all.

You don't have to have your own children to know something about them. I'm older than the rest of my generation of the family, my sisters, cousins etc. Quite a few years older than some so I would have dealt with them all as young children.

To highlight the fact that they are angry about the work being carried out during the night and the disruption caused. Would have thought that obvious.

    Cool.

Tell me about the time they slept through a concert at night while on top of the hundredish decibel speakers there was 80,000 people singing along to the song. How did they sleep with all that going on?

If the music was going to be any good it would be bad enough but trying to sleep through all that awful music and bad singing, I would get the hell out of the place but would also be worried about my property. I feel for the residents.

Seen them sleep multiple times in pubs with bands playing and people shouting over the bands, seen them sleep on busy streets in buggies, in restaurants with crowds of people even Seen one or two of them sleep in a tractor which would be louder than any concert and bumping around. That's just off the top of my head.

Even if they can't sleep what about the rest of the night? Putting them to bed a bit later when the music ends will do them no harm. They might like the music too, its back when I was a young child I really got into listening to Garth Brooks as my aunts and uncles always had him on.

It was already reported here where the Croker spokesperson said that the stage will be "spectacular"
