Your Score 5391 Qualifying Score 3695

The maximum score available on each test is 8000.

    Your overall place is: 1140

I did it on a whim, about an hour and a half before my application window closed and with absolutely no preparation. I think that there is no way you can really prepare for these tests. I'll do the next set of tests but not really interested in a career in AGS! Just want to see how far I get really!

I have two colleagues in a state of turmoil today as their dream ends here and you come out with this?

I hope karma really really makes ur miserable

I wonder how many other clowns like this are out there?

That's not the case at all.

The qualifying score is so dramatically low that anyone with even a shadow of capability will be considered right up to interview. Even with 10,000 speculative applications.

If you can't achieve 3,600 odd of a score (about 40%) in these tests then you won't be continuing. Just as with almost any other test.

Maybe I'm not understanding the process.

This lad/lady doesn't want to join AGS. If he/she didn't do the tests, for a career they weren't interested in, then whoever got 5001 would have gotten through... or am I mistaken?

This may be why they have band two in order to take account of this exact situation

Only joking Raider but I'm surprised by how many they cut today. even you have to agree that a Reserve Garda looks like an idiot tonight that is in band 2 or 3. I'm angry about it and I'm in band 1.

The person placing 5,001st would have got through to the next stage, which is another barrage of similar tests.

The chances of that person progressing past the next stage are slim. The stage after that is just a repeat of the same thing under tested conditions, and then interview.

It's definitely not impossible that someone COULD have gone from 5,000th to top 300 between three stages of testing, but it's very, very unlikely. For example at 3332nd, I'm holding out just about no hope - it's not possible as I've said to study for aptitude tests, and that's what the next test is.

I didn't think of it that way,you could be right and again, I could be WAY off.

On top of all of that, the person who applies half-heartedly might find that when presented with a result that shows they have a brilliant aptitude for AGS, they are more enthusiastic, and might make a great Garda some day.

From a dreamer's perspective, yes speculative applications like that are annoying as they don't necessarily want it as much as others, but that doesn't mean they aren't suitable.

At the end of the day, the 300 most suitable people who all want to be Gardaí will go to Templemore. This selection is an employer's wet dream :)

The reserve has been seriously undermined and diminished today after what has happened and the standard of applicant will drop even further[/quote]

I'm confused. What exactly do you mean here?

Got my results band 1 with a score of 731. Im in a state of shock! I cant believe it. I applied before and didnt get passed the first stage.

Im in a stable career at the moment which I will happily drop if I am successful in getting the full way to become a guard.

However, my state oh happiness so also torn with a disappointment as my partner who was really hoping to get in, placed in band 2. He just barely missed out on band 1 and is utterly torn, but he's being all happy and delighted for me! Horrible situation but something we talked about before applying!

    Congrats to all!

High psychometric scoring does not equal a lifetime of quality policing.

Don't know about that just had a conference call with 10 of my fellow gr's who were in my phase and we all got into the top 100. The consensus is that our time with the reserve helped in our answering

Apologies as I'm a bit behind, how many bands are there and what does that mean for each band, I'm in band 1 which I'm chuffed with, are there people who aren't even placed in a band? and this is just a query, as the forums are going boogaloo for obvious reasons.

This is probably the only chance a person could have of seeing how they place in an aptitude test against the rest of the population.

Yeah there are 3 bands. Band 1 is the top 5000 people, band 2 is number 5001 to 9000 & band 3 is 9001 to 12,602. Anyone below that has not passed. Congrats on getting into band 1 :)

    Band 1 1-5000
    Band 2 5001-9000
    band 3 9001- 12602

The rest are cut and out of this recruitment drive.

Well if my group is anything to go by you may find the percentage is high but who knows . We have had the advantage of an excellent coach who we would have never have met if we were not reserves. So this weekend we begin preparing for the second round and doing some of the prep for the interviews. So plenty of role playing for that one

I don't think so, but I could be wrong. Looks to me that for now it's just band 1 and they'll dip into 2 and 3 if needed
