Already told him, then he started to claim the Regnerus study was credible.

    Hadn't read that far actually.

But if enough of us keep telling him, maybe he'll eventually read one of our posts, and realise what side he's on. Though I'm expecting to meet Star Maker itself before that happens.

I expect you'll also meet the star maker before that happens,

    That term is, um, unbeatable.

Well no specific mention of legal action but I wouldn't be surprised
I stand (or sit, actually) corrected.

    thanks.

Vincent Browne hosting a debate on homophobia with John McGuirk and Kevin Brophy. Or, more accurately, a friend of David Quinn, and a solicitor for David Quinn. FAIR AND REASONED DEBATE A-GO-GO!

It's Vincent though. He'll rip them a new one.

Now I am torn between hearing Vincent rip into them and the fact that I hate listening to Vincent due to all of the ums and ahs...:(

Seems John has stepped aside for a chap called Paddy J Manning, a gay man who hates gay marriage. Whoever he is, he can't be worse that McGuirk can he?

    Yes

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

If he is who I think he is, worse is putting it lightly.

So... what, is he going to make the same terrible claims McGuirk would and then when torn apart as McGuirk would be he'll call Vincent a homophobe and win the argument?

It's only February. As an atheist, I'm going to pray for a few more Iona PR f*ck ups throughout the year.

"The Tonight Show with Vincent Browne was criticised this week when Paddy J Manning made an appearance, speaking against equality. Manning was a vocal and quite nasty figure during the abortion debate of 2012-2013, at one point labelling women as “murdresses” when they spoke about being forced to travel to the UK for terminations in cases of fatal foetal abnormalities."

    Oh joyous day :(

    When is the show? Tonight?

Waters is excellent clickbait, but that's all he is.
I don't agree that he can be dismissed so easily. He has produced insightful work in the past; Jiving at the Crossroads, IMHO, catches the mood of the time. I remember a series he did on Midland towns sometime in the eighties, which were similarly challenging.

His columns frequently miss; they're even mostly unreadable. Which, tbh, means he's hardly clickbait. It's frequently hard to tell why the Irish Times pay him at all, just for a rare bit of brilliance.

He reminds me a little of Desmond Fennell, someone who similarly struggled to make sense as he was left talking to himself when he needed to be part of a dialogue. I'm not sure there's ever been that much of an appetite for discussion here.

Good old Stephen Fry. Amazing amount of coverage in such a short time. Buggerall from traditional Irish media, but that's hardly surprising given how terrified they are of getting sued by a pack of homophobic ****.

The video's currently at 150k views, up from 100k at lunchtime. It'll be interesting indeed to see how many of young Stephen's 6.6 million followers view it :)

I think Rory did that on the original television clip.

It's simply wonderful to see the Ionanists come so utterly, totally -- and now globally -- unstuck.

It's wonderful. Iona have shot themselves in the face with all this.
They were ever their own undoing but this is global.

Makes us a country look extremely backward. That's my only regret.
