Before we all just assume that the deal has actually been reported by another manager, we should wait to see if the other deals get reversed too. It could very well be the case that the SMFA looked at the transfers, and then noticed that the manager had left. I'm pretty sure they even explicitly state that that's against the transfer policy (or whatever it's called) of SM.

    EDIT : On a completely unrelated note : Post Number 1,111 :D:D:D:D

How was it flagged in the first place? What's the point in having monitoring off?

Just for the record guys, I honestly do not believe it was reported, there is probably still some level of SMFA monitoring that is turned on ...Similar to driving aids on any of the new cars, ... can never be fully turned off.

It was nice to get Salah used to Porto, he now has a taste for the place and if he ever becomes available again I'm sure Porto will be his desired destination ...

I was looking for something that might hopefully had answered that very question but, alas, to no avail.

So, in the end, all the recent debates and arguments last season over transfer monitoring look to be a complete waste of time as the change in the rule may not have made the slightest difference!!!

If you click the transfers button on the top banner, and then click on all transfers, some transfers, mostly big value ones, may have "Illegal?" on the right.

I'll bring up the point I made a few months ago, has there been a 100% legitimate transfer reversed since Mac started this gameworld? Ones that didn't involve a side deal or managers quitting? No? Well then the game is doing it's job

    Nothing else to say really

very political!! is there a rule for squad size, to stop certain teams hoarding all the best players, just in case they get a rise?

    No :(

Hence why a couple of teams buy virtually every player they can when they're added to the database.

The only transfers that have "Illegal" next to them are the ones between gameworld managers. That's just how you report them.

could you kindly explain that to me, please?

Limiting the squad size seems pointless to me.

Buying new players as they are added to the game seems okay to me.

in one of the other GW's here on boards(copa del boards), there is a maximum squad size(50) set and agreed to by all managers that sign up to that league.

If you breach the cap no managers will do business with you again.

I don't think you can report transfers hence why we turned it off??? Can gt or someone go in and see if there's still a report button?

FC Porto would like to clarify that Joe Kinnears resignation as Newcastle United's Director of Football does under no circumstances mean the he will be takin up a similar position at FCP.

In fact, while FCP are delighted to see JFK depart footbal yet again, they would like to point out that they hope that his resignation is entirely related to football matters and not health related

    JFK OUT!! :D

press the "illegal" button and see what it says (dont worry as too report a transfer you must complete another part before its reported)

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,995 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

Just checked...it's the same "State reasons for reporting this; use more than 100 characters" text box as before.

    All it says is:
An illegal transfer is one that benefits one team more than the other.
The following are examples of suspicious transfers:
    • Buying a club's best players for low value.
    • Buying a club's worst players for high value.
    • Conducting multiple transfers with the same club that are one sided.
    • Any of the above prior to a manager resigning.
The following are examples of NOT suspicious transfers:
    • Someone out bids you for a player.
    • You would have paid slightly less/more for the player.
Please enter at least 100 characters for the reason you are reporting this transfer.

I assume SMFA Monitoring means they will actively watch transfers and act themselves if they feel it's necessary. With it turned off, they wait for reports of dodgy dealings.

Just to make a point of this. I agree with your point there's nothing wrong with buying players in general. The trouble being that bigger clubs through having bigger incomes from bigger stadiums, etc have much more financial power in bidding for new promising talent compared to small and medium clubs.

However, if there were to be a squad cap, bigger clubs would be prevented from snapping up too much, leaving a fairer and more competitive bidding ground for the small clubs who beforehand couldn't afford to be out bidding the likes of Bayern Munich for example. This in turn could have a knock on affect and stimulate the transfer market. Look at it now most of the big clubs prefer a part exchange of a couple promising youngsters when selling a top player. With more young players let free, the smaller clubs would have some good young players to offer for a good player when a big club wants to sell.

Then you also have the fact that if some seriously tipped player to make it big is wanted by a big club they will have to move on a player to make room, which would also be a benefit in that should a smaller club buy it will strengthen them.

On another note, I left the league but can't keep myself from browsing and posting in the forum, I think I've developed an addiction without even knowing it :pac:

    Well then come back!

Also we've been over this before and the "bigger" teams having lots of players in great in some ways but it hinder's them when lets for example say Januzaj was added too the data base. A big team say Munich was let max bid 500,000 where as a smaller team with less players in that position etc could max bid 800,000

I'm not saying it's not the bigger clubs buying mass amounts of players. There are one or two who do.

But I'm finding that when I look at squad sizes, its not the biggest clubs with the most money who are buying up a tonne of players. The likes of the Bayerns, Uniteds, Citys...the ones with the financial backing aren't the ones who are necessarily buying everyone up.

Meanwhile, as Mac says, the more you buy, the harder it gets. Plus no one has unlimited amounts of money.

I think, honestly, its not about the club size but about how much time people have; we said this last week that not everyone has time to get in on players as soon as they get added or bumped. But I dont think people who take the time to research players, or even the time to be getting quick bids in, should be punished with squad caps. There are still quite a few good players at externals if people look for them.
