Go in to Timers, Delete them and then ptess SAVE

BTW, you must be on an old version. I didn't make that mistake in later ones leaving the autotimers there. Do that have the HD Judder Fix ? In any case, the latest one is possibly the most stable ever

Sorry, but which button is Save? The only options I get for the colour buttons are Delete, Add, Disable, Cleanup.

I do see some freezing on FTA HD channels from time to time, which I found odd. I might be running an old version then. As far as I remember I installed the image files (e2jffs2.img, uImage) at the root of this folder: http://goo.gl/2DuVm0

Are those the correct files? I'll do a reflash anyway.

Rather than a re-flash, re-download and then re-flash. I have changed the files a few times but the download link is still the same. However, the goo.gl link is for the latest AR-P so any FTA freezing can only be from a slightly mis-aligned dish I think

I'll re-download the files from your dropbox. Just to confirm: the files I should download are the e2jffs2.img, uImage directly under the "root" folder in your dropbox and NOT the files under the AR-P_22Dec folder, correct?

    Correct

I am in the process of ditching Sky and am interested in this box.
I was hoping someone could help answer these questions to help me make my decision.

    - Can anyone confirm if Irish channels are available via Saorview (UHF) on this system or are they only available using a subscription (like Sky)?
    - Does 7 day EPG work for the Irish and UK channels?
    - Is it easy enough to set up the EPG to work with Irish and UK channels?
    - What kind of wireless dongle would be best to connect to my router?
    - Does recording to any external hard drive work (I have a 1TB iomega drive)
    - What is the media player like, does it play mkv files OK?

    Thx in advance experts.

So you are saying its best to use a LAN cable to the router from the receiver?
The only problem for me is that my router is in the hall.
Is wireless flaky or does it depend on the dongle you get?

Well if you want to Stream the HD channels, then you really need wired. Powerline units are quite reasonable

+1 on what Championc is saying about the powerline.
Jump on adverts or ebay and you'll get them for a good price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭yllw.ldbttr

+1 for the powerline as well, but if, like in my case, you have electrical issues preventing them from working at high speed, then a decent router with a good quality wifi to ethernet bridge will work just as well, that's what I use.

Correct. The USB must be formatted to fat32. If you put the files in a folder on the key make sure the folder name does NOT contain spaces or odd characters. It is also a good idea to run a backup of your existing setup BEFORE you update. It's the same plugin to do both.

    Thanks lads.

yea I had a problem alright with getting the files to show using different usb sticks.

think there is 3or 4 usb lying around and I know one if them works at least :)

    Ta again.

Has anyone ever used this crowd in the past?
They have it in pre order with a free wi if dongle I could try before splashing out on a power line.

I bought my previous settop box (MVision HD200, still works after 5 years) and my current Amiko Alien 2-triple+ from them. They installed my satellite dish for me as well! Found them helpful to deal with!

If you cannot or don't want to use a powerline, I suggest you use a wifi bridge such as this one:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vonets-VAP11G-WiFi-Bridge-Dongle/dp/B0050AI804

I've tried using USB wifi dongles but didn't get it to work with the amiko. The above WIFI bridge works much better. It basically makes the box think it's using wired ethernet. It's probably not a 100% substitute for a wired connection, but I find it much better than using a cheap USB wifi dongle.

I got my aa2 there. Very established and know their stuff.

If you do get an aa2 off them, be sure to ask for the 2 pin adapter. The threw it in free for my brother but I forgot to ask.

If buying powerline adapters, only buy ones with sockets on the front of them. Intthis way, you can plug them directly into any ring main and not lose a socket. You should NEVER plug these into 4-gang extensions - that just never works which is possibly why you had issues.

Cheers, was aware of that, my issue was due to the way that our builder wired the extension a few years back, and that's the room in which I needed the connection.
I even had an electrician friend take a look, but I settled for a high speed wifi to ethernet bridge in the end. Decent throughout and response times as I invested in a high end router.

Strange you had an issue. Maybe the newer circuit was covered by an ELCB while the original ones were not

I'm having problem (constant freeze/ reboot) on other H3 image so trying to use techguy's jan image. No matter what, Oscam won't start. On EMU manager, nothing on ECM info despite oscam.server having correct info. Anyone had similar problem and care to share how managed to solve it? Thanks

Extension leads aren't an issue, Surge protected ones are though.

On a slightly unrelated note, I have a degree in electronic and computer engineering, and those things still seem like magic to me! I sort of understand the concept, but I cant believe they work as well as they do! I love them! At £15 a pair they are crazy good value.

On a completely unrelated note, but way more on topic I installed techguys latest image and so far so good. The Sky theme seems pretty nice and oscam seems to behaving a little better than it was on the last image i had. On the last image I had to change channel maybe every 30 mins because it froze, but I watched a decent junk of the Superb Owl without any issues.

Have to disagree with you on the extension lead issue. I had my powerline on an extension lead and suffered constant freezing.

Only realised my error after a few hours of wondering "WHAT THE FCUK IS WRONG WITH THIS THING?"!!!

Pluged the powerline straight into the wall socket and it's like gold ever since.

On thetechguys image are you able to record one and watch another? I can't on this image for some reason.

    My setup is,
    A...Saorview
    B...Advanced
    C...Equal to B

I haven't ever had a problem with it to be honest other than surge protected ones.

I dont record, but I am pretty sure I can stream one and watch another, I have tested streaming, but im not sure was anything else being watched at the time. I can try it out later if you'd like?

Also I dont have saorview hooked up so I cant help with that

    Saorview is perfect.:)

If you could just check the recording for me please on your image and let me know, that would be great.

And if it works just let me know what way your tuners are configured. no matter what way i try to set up B&C i just cannot get them to record one and watch another.

    Thanks
