This might sound a little silly, but when you take a wheel off a car and just roll it across the ground, should it be perfectly flat?

I have hard points in my steering and recently when I had one of the front wheels off, I rolled it away from me across the room and it was leaning to the right very noticeably. There's three large grooves in the tyre on the right side and it was running along them, quite unusual I thought.

There's no bulges or the like and i'm thinking that's just how the tyre rolls unladen; probably runs perfectly flat under the weight of the car. It's also mounted on the alloy the right way round. Anyone see this before?

Sobanek posted this in a thread on here. What I wanted to know is this....... was that wood trim a factory option?

I have seen worse - much worse!

To me, it looks aftermarket, but OK all the same. It should obviously be flush, and probably darker, but it wouldn't stop me buying the car if everything else added up. Look for a few quid off to get it back to factory spec and you'd be laughing.

You should see some of the hatchet jobs that have been done in 'restoring' original wood veneer... Marquetry is a craft/trade at the end of the day. Smart restorers contract it out. You pay peanuts, you get Junior Cert work.

Often seen it voodoo, think it's to do with the side the spokes are on. Little more weight that side leans the wheel when rolling.

I'm pretty sure that was a factory fitted option.

Standard in the facelift SE LUX model.

My pre-facelift wood looks nicer imo:

That's shocking so. As esel said, I'd have expected it to be flush and it's far too light in colour. It looks really cheap and nasty.

Ah no I was just trolling.
Its a superb. Planning to keep it for a few weeks and then sell it.
Watch out for the ad in the next while!

The plan is to eventually replace this with a e39 540i (ideally) or something like that. If I manage to clear 12k for the superb I will look at getting an RX8
