Ah I get it now, so there's essentially 3 outcomes; they go for a blockstring and nothing happens coz I'm stuck in blockstun, they go for a frame-trap / counterhit and I focus backdash out of it (assuming it's a one-hit move and not armour-breaking) or they go for a tick-throw and I tech.

Yup! Exactly :) head into training mode and practice the timing, it's a good OS that has it's uses

    There goes all my hits!

So USF4 is going to feature direct upload to youtube.

Inb4 all uploads get taken down by copyright claims on release day. :pac:

In all seriousness, I hope we don't get swamped with random matches, it'd suck if people couldn't search on youtube for hundreds of matches clogging up the system :(

(Says the guy with 2,000 fighting game uploads)

Aye it's definitely one I'll be practicing. Should help me deal with people who's only mix-up is frame-trap or tick-throw. Take the guessing out of it.

    Thanks for the help Ramza.

The more important question is the render.

SFIII is so bad as to be useless. (and took ages, to boot)

PS4 for example captures decent quality when played locally on the machine (if only at 30fps) but when it get sent out to facebook it's horrific.

I'm astonished for the most part how little these features have affected YouTube dudes as of yet. The clips are rarely editable and always sub-par quality-wise, which leaves us with the edge.

While I never thought they'd lead to quality vids, I was worried about people not being able to find anything because of sheer volume. That's also failed to happen (I think people lose interest when they suddenly don't get a million subs overnight).

I'll be heading to the USF4 location tests again this weekend, so if you have anything you really want me to check, let me know and I'll do my best. I won't be at it for as long as last time though so I can't confirm how much I'll get to do.

Ask the Adon mains what they think of Adon (if he even has changes).

If the cr lp and U1 buffs are still there for Guile and you get a compliant other player, would you be able to check if you could get U1 to land off a cr jab? There's been conflicting reports.

Test akumas demon flip dive kick at all angles and ranges vs every dp in the game. Thanks!

This. Best thing you can do with ur limited time on it is play serious with Rose or whoever.

Experience any BS and report back to HQ.

There's an ultra mod for PC that lets you play around with some of the new mechanics (although I know it doesn't trump the actual real experience). From what I've played I can say that delayed wakeup definitely hurts a lot of vortex characters, and in general is a pain to get used to. For example, this is even gonna **** Ryu up (no more sweep, hold uf safejump) as the opponent can choose to just stay on the ground for 11f (I think it's 11f but I could be wrong). Other characters/setups that come to mind are Cody's backthrow hold uf, and Cammy's backthrow, whiff st.lk, hold uf setup, and tonnes others that come from hard knockdowns. This is also pretty mental as no one can time 11f in their head to cover both options (even with frame kills, this will be quite difficult), so I think this hurts the flow of the game a tonne.

Although it is too late in the game life cycle to change, I think regular throws should not be hard knockdown. I even thought this was strange in 2009 and even mentioned it before. SF2 didn't have this (post New Challengers I believe, not quite sure if throw softening became a thing in ST or NC), SF Alpha didn't have this, and SF3 didn't have it either. All throws didn't lead to hard knockdowns into mixups, which I think is fair. SF3 did it particularly well as you could quick rise all throws, but then again it is a totally different game with a totally difference pace so maybe that comparison is pointless

In general it hurts the flow of the game and gives more power to defense which I don't think is a good thing. When you get a knockdown you shouldn't have to guess, you just scored a knockdown. In Street Fighter scoring a hard knockdown is big and is where most if not every character gets their mixup rolling from. It kinda messes with momentum and in my opinion the attacking player should always have an advantage, so I'm in two minds about this. It does help balance a lot of bullsh*t though. I'm not being bias just because this completely destroys Seth :p Seth is now a pretty useless character in Ultra, besides his nerfs he now has to guess after he lands an SPD or any kind of knockdown. But the same goes for a tonne of characters. I feel like the opponent should be the one on the receiving end of the attacker's mixup and the attacker shouldn't be forced to deal with a mixup (are they delay wakeup or no?) when getting an opening, kinda ridiculous. But like I said I can appreciate what it does to balance some characters and unblockables but it really ends there. Don't even think delayed wakeup was necessary

    Red focus is ****e

In all likelihood this is what will happen, but I'll be trying to outsource any specific tech like jab>ultras to players who main those guys.

    • Crouching middle kick: Damage increase (70->80)

    • Knee shot: More advantageous on hit (3F hit stun added)
    • Air Slasher: Block damage increased (12->15)
    • Light Rolling Sobat: Disadvantage when opponent blocks attack decreased (-5F->-3F)
    • Medium Rolling Sobat: Longer hit stun on the first attack when focus cancelled (6F->7F)
    • EX Machine Gun Blow: Disadvantage when blocked increased (-5F->-8F)
    • EX Machine Gun Blow: During hit or block, can be focus cancelled
    • EX Machine Gun Blow: Launches opponent higher on hit

Looks like they're turning ex mgu into a risk reward thing on wake up. The extra float should make U2 easier to land after it, or upkicks. Wonder will ex mgu fadc U2 be easier than the raw dash. Or possible. Also safe lk sobat, I think deejay just got even more annoying to fight...

I've seen vids from Deejay players I follow running that PC-fanmod with the Ultra changes, and the float time caused my new EX-mgu is so significant you need to delay your U2 otherwise it'll hit late and you won't get the ultra animation.
Also safe lk sobat, I think deejay just got even more annoying to fight...

I hope to reach previously unattainable levels of annoyingness :D

Thank god they released the list. Was annoying as **** seeing all the misinformation circling after the last ones.
    System

    Delay standing
Can only be performed against hard knockdown attacks
Can be performed by pressing any two buttons as the character hits the ground
The word “Technical” will be displayed if performed properly
Characters remain on the ground for 11 frames longer than normal

    Red Focus
Performed by pressing light punch + middle punch + middle kick
    Takes up two meters
Can absorb an infinite number of attacks
Damage absorbed builds the Ultra meter at 2x normal speed
Does 1.5x damage of a character’s normal focus attack
Level 1 and 2 are the same as normal focus and armor effect fades when you release the buttons
Level 3 has armor effect until the attack is active

    EX Red Focus
Performed by pressing light punch + middle punch + middle kick
    Takes three meters to perform
Does 1.5x damage of a character’s normal focus attack

    Ultra Combo Double
Allows characters the ability to use both Ultra simultaneously
Characters either do 75% damage or 60% damage of their normal Ultra damage
Character classified under the 60% damage are: Zangief, Cammy, Fei Long, T.Hawk, Makoto, Hakan, Dhalsim, Rose, Akuma, E.Honda, and Hugo
Characters classified under the 75% damage are: All remaining characters

Ooh, these are interesting changes. Red FADC costing 3 meters now may actually see usage. 4 meters was way too much. The damage buffs on red focus seems like a good idea too.

It's also nice to see there are two damage classes of Ultra 3. Some of those 60% stats on the last build were nuts and made it pointless to even consider them for some characters.
    Rose

Movement: Forward dash recovery reduced (21F->20F)
Close middle kick: Hitbox extended downward to hit crouching opponents more consistently
Crouching light punch: Damage increased (20->30)
Crouching light kick: Damage increased (30->40)
Crouching middle punch: Damage increased (60->70)
Light Soul Spiral: Forward movement increased
Light/Medium/Heavy Soul Spiral: Damage increased (100->110)
EX Soul Spiral: Damage increased (120->130)
EX Soul Spiral: Stun damage increased (100->200)
EX Soul Spiral: Hit invincibility increased (11F->13F)
EX Soul Spiral: Can now be thrown
Medium Soul Spark: Recovers faster (22F->20F)
Heavy Soul Spark: Recovers faster (29F->27F)
Illusion Spark: Starts up faster (12F->10F)
    Soul Satellite: Command change (214x2+PPP->214x2+KKK)
    Soul Satellite: Recovery increased (2F->4F)

    Everything's pretty bang on (and not really changed from last time) except for that last one ;_;
I guess I can't really complain since everything else she got was so damn good.

Can you test if Abel's close heavy punch connects on crouching Honda? Thanks

Depending on who the 5th Character is this might be a good reason for me to finally get a PS4.

Funnily enough I really couldn't care less who the fifth character is at this point, but some of the balance work is keeping me in. I'm liking how all the charge chars look now.
