if your classed in intermediate membership which is usually under thirty, 2k up front plus around the 1k for the sub... when you reach thirty then, pay the 3k plus your €1700 for sub...( includes members comps and use of academy)..

If I had the money I'd be there in a flash... hearing of a lot of golfers moving there... some pretty handy senior cup players as well, they could have a go at it next year...

Sub is 1900 for the year, 2 low guys from Muskerry recently joined along with ex lee valley player last year so looks like things could be better for them on that front. I play a fair bit with my young cousin 17 and he pays €350 for the year, hate him :)

Apologies kerrycork13 for hijacking the thread but I'm also looking for advice in joining a club. I've been playing golf a few years but have never joined a club and not having a handicap (and the goal of trying to lower it) is annoying me.

Due to work i play nearly all my golf mon-fri. I spend well over €1k annually on green fees

Give or take a few miles I'm equidistant from Killarney, castleisland, charlaville, mallow and macroom (kanturk is the closest but I don't enjoy playing it for some reason). Any advice appreciated

Castleisland is €47 a month direct debit.

I heard recently that down in Tralee the members only pay around €480 sub a year.

I know it would have been in around €7,000 entrance money and they rarely take in new members but once you get over the initial cost of the entrance fee I thought that sub must be best around in terms of quality for money considering the course you get.

Not sure about the sub, but sounds good
They make a massive amount on green fees though, especially from Americans.

Without knowing the exact details, that sounds about right, the sub is in the 400's. It's a similar case in Ballybunion

I guess those clubs don't have any financial difficulties so don't need to be charging members over the top subs. To me they're seriously good deals

As mentioned above those clubs would take in serious cash through green fees compared to your standard courses elsewhere around Munster

I'd imagine Fota will be receiving a few new membership applications after this week!

In fairness the course was pristine, helped of course by the weather no doubt. A friend from Carlow came down on Sunday and as we were walking around he was onto me about when we were going to play there.

It must be my favourite clubhouse aswell just the look of it sitting behind the lake is majestic!

Sean or Graham in Mallow will hire clubs, just give them a ring first 022 21145.

In fairness any of the clubs that have a pro shop will be able to hire you a set.

Most clubs will have sets for hire, should be no problem getting sorted.

€1 per green fee in Blarney all this week if you're looking for a cheap game in the Cork area!
