I had last night a chance to drive my buddies 407 1.6hdi ( i know EXTREME!!! ), and I have to say, that I was very very pleasantly surprised. Its really nice car to be in! Drives smooth, really nice inside, Seats are very comfortable. that 1.6hdi is very poky engine too. Like almost any Pug 407, it comes with an xmas lite style dash with every stupid sensor going off though... :pac: so yeah, I would drive 407 if I need to, very nice car.
Huge difference from Saab 9-3 that I was in once...

Any French car I've been in has been insanely comfortable. That's where my appreciation for them begins and ends. ;)

I owned 406 once and it was built like a tank and very comfortable too.
I have a sweet spot for French cars, but not the pug 206, that thing is dreadful.

214 quid for a full year insurance on the Wolseley compared to 104 per month on the Legend. Win!

My saab 93 would'nt start today. Jumped it and got it going. Engine sounds different. Warning light says 'battery not charging'. Could be fan belt? I made it to garage with no lights or power steering. They going to fix it in the morning. Hope it's nothing too serious.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,473 ✭✭✭YbFocus

If the engine sounds different it could be the clutch in the alternator pulley (if it has one that is)
But if you jumped the car and it didn't charge then it's your alternator.

Or your car doesn't sound different and your belt has snapped :)

Right guys, after a month of spammers, timewasters, last price merchants and other guys looking for a chat, I've gotten no concrete interest in the e60.

I've rewritten the ad and uploaded some new photos. Do you guys have any other feedback you can offer? (link to add in sig)

Car is running perfectly, but there is a scratch on the front driverside bumper.

She is running perfectly and is fully serviced, taxed and NCTd.

Throw up a pic of the service docs, nct sheet and spare keys.

    Hey CHP,

I always like good all round pics and the right hand side one is too far away to see the car in detail :)

Other than that the last line is the same really as the paragraph explaining service etc.

If only I had a few bob...:)

    New kit kat ad

    Where's the yootoob thread lads?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,066 ✭✭✭✭Big Nasty

Your main pic is the back of the car, not the front.

No pic of NCT cert, service book, etc.

No pic of current tax disc.

No pic of dash showing mileage.

    It's silver (only kidding! :D)

How's it priced? is it in the top ten on DD / CZ for similar mileage / condition?

Yeah that's the problem with me, I waffle. I'm working on rewording that paragraph and waiting for the camera to charge so I can take some pics of the service book nct etc as Challengemaster said above.

I knew a 535d would be a hard sell but I think even I underestimated the scale of the difficulty!

I really thought it would have been easy enough to sell!

It was the cheapest 06 535d on donedeal, now there is one 06 listed at 10k from a dealer with worse interior and higher miles.

I'm working on the photos. Good shout on the back vs front thing.:)

Thanks for all the feedback guys, keep it coming! I just want this sold so I can replace her :)

Ireland + 3.0 tax + >100k miles means unfortunately not.
It has been the cheapest one online and still no sale. :( It's holding up my next yank tank!

@ €1500p.a. to tax? In this country?

    I know it's diesel but still! ;)

It really wrecks my head that the tax holds everyone back so much. Give 15k for a car and pay 200 for tax...

Or give 10k and 1500 for tax and have fun and ****!!!

    Big N your a smart ass :)

No harm to stick up a picture with the car idling with the mileage display Idrive screen just so people see there is no warning light and can see the actual mileage up on the screen. Also as said get a picture with the service history a few receipts nct cert keys it just gives people a sense that you look after the car as you have the things kept. The main thing about the ad is to make it attractive enough for someone to come and look at the car and once they come to look at it you practically have it sold it's just getting them to view it is the thing I suppose.

German font plates might, for older more conservative buyer, indicate modding/racy image. Ditto what appears to me to be tint on rear windows. I would assume the bigger market is of 35+ guys looking for an exec style car with a bit of poke.

    Unfortunately I wasn't being a smart ass.

    Two years ago we had:

    6.6L V8 Trans Am
    3.5L V8 735
    2.5L F4 Legacy

    Now we have:

    2.2 I6 520
3.1 I5 Grand Cherokee Commercial Diesel

    :(

Personally yes I wouldn't like the plates either, but surely when buying a car you can look through the plates to see the car.

As I did when I bought my e60 with its god awful wheels

I had all that best price, "but shure it's a 2.3" merchants when selling the MPS and as Big Nasty pointed out to me, it's not a race to the bottom when it comes to price.

It's fierce hard to sell a big engined car in this country these days so you will either have to trade it in or be patient.

I'm the first in my house to have any interest in cars, my da's biggest car to date is his current one, a 2010 1.6tdi Octavia

He thought it was nuts when I said I was getting a 3.0!

"No need for it in Ireland at all" etc...

    Your house sounds cool
