Guys, if you were to choose between a 2001 Volvo S60 2.0T and a 2001 BMW 520i, which one would you pick and why?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,327 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

The volvo is more powerful but the bmw will be a better drive.
    I'd probably have the volvo.

According to Sky, Dragon's Den is on at 9 next week and no sign of TG before or after.

Volvo, because it's not a bmw :pac:

Ah no to be honest mine would be down to safety, it's got a 4 star safety rating and you don't really see much of them plus if you get a decent one you can get alot of stuff with them, koppaberg on here had an s80 and that thing was loaded with features, I'd be with colm on this and go for the volvo too

    Rwd is addictive

But 2.0T can be remapped further.... :D

Depends on what you want from the car, fast or rwd couch?

BMW for the rear wheel drive ;)
More fun, more of a driving experience.

    Whichever one has cream leather!

With the same colour interior and exterior, similar milage and history I would probably go for the Volvo. If the BMW is better in one of those things I who'd go for it :)

I would drive both of them and take my time weighing up the pros and cons of each in my head and then make a decision based on that.

You are buying the car and you will have to be in it all the time so it should be whichever one you feel happier about.

Just asking since maybe someone owned both.
Couch cruiser aka the S60 is the one I've driven so far - very comfortable and since it's wide, it's decent on the road too. The BMW will definitely feel much different, but tthe Volvo is better from a performance perspective.
My head is wrecked. Maybe I should just get a Micra and shut up :(

Pfft lightweight! I spent over 12 months procrastinating as to which car we'd upgrade to from our K11.

I've only just realised that the Bugatti Veyron, was originally designed as a concept car for Seat in 2003.

    Veyron

    Seat Cupra GT concept.

Obviously not identical but I think it's fair to say there is a definite similarity there.

Ah no, are you set on those two or are you open to other cars of similar type?

The shape of the body is fairly similar, if you had silhouettes of both and showed them to a few people they'd probably say they were both veyrons

What does it matter what random people on the internet who have probably driven either think.

Test drive both and see which suits YOU

Astra OPC = High Performance Death Trap = No insurance.

Would love a GTI Golf though, but insurance is ridiculous on that. More expensive than for an E39 530i

Well that was interesting, just back from a car meet/cruise, it seemed well organised being underground(so no problems with rain), they had a DJ and I think there were models also. Not really my scene unfortunately, being 34 myself and the average age being around 24 it was one of those times I felt really old:p. A problem I saw were people sticking to the groups they knew and not branching out. Lucky someone had an FTO so I talked about that. There were around 60 cars there Japanese/European and when they were moving on to the next spot I choose that as the time to bow out. I did hear police sirens in the distance as I left them.

lol:D, I was going to compare it to that but they weren't messing or "diffin" so I had to respect that. Dont know about what happened after I left but the organiser said they would like it to be a monthly event.

A quality i really appreciate at a meet. Nothing make me more uncomfortable than some tool of unknown ability throwing a car around a carpark full of people standing around. Recipe for 16 broken legs or someone being killed :(

I'm definitely going to go next month, that's a promise :)
