Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Have been watching a lot of Wimbledon over the last few days. Yesterday's Djokovic vs Del Potro was a fantastic match. The third set was the best tennis I have ever seen. I had been hoping for a Del Potro win though so was left a bit disappointed. Either player would have been a deserving winner though.

Now just sitting down to Ladies' Final. Hoping for a Lisicki win today. I love the power and speed she plays with and she looks like she enjoys her time on court more than most which carries over to the viewers. Hopefully it'll be a good match anyway.

Watching Lisicki on the verge of tears half way through that match, uh so sad. Sucha good player but completely bottled it.
Good comeback near the end but I wasn't really expecting her to break Bartoli's serve twice..

    Oh well.

FF is back up and running, can you please PM me your team name, if I don't get a PM from you by the middle of September, I'll delete you off the league!

I'm not upset over losing, tbh. If you'd told me last season that Dublin would beat Kilkenny and Galway, and would get to an All Ireland semi-final and only lose by five points, I would have told you that you were crazy. They didn't disgrace themselves at all!

    FFS United...

Also, boo Dublin. (I don't really care, but I just would have liked Mayo to win because Dublin people are unbearable when they win anything)

That was a soul destroying ending. I'm done for the day after that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,009 ✭✭✭✭wnolan1992

I broke skin on my hand in three places when I slammed it down in frustration at the try. I also heard the people stop talking in the apartment upstairs when I shouted "F*CK!!" at the top of my voice.

Cruel, cruel ending. But I guess, on balance, NZ deserved it for sheer perseverance and... stuff.

the two questioned passes and the retaking of the conversion just dragged out the crushing of the soul.

the two questioned passes and the retaking of the conversion just dragged out the crushing of the soul.

The passes were just clearly not forward but it still just kept a tiny glimmer of hope in you just to crush you all over again.

And then that ****e with the conversion was just painful.

I don't even want to know what the score would have been if the red had been given.

I have never been more uninterested in an Olympic Games, than I have been for this basket case in Sochi.

    Winter Olympics != Olympics

    :P

But yeah, this is looking like it's going to be an unmitigated disaster. Fifty one BILLION well spent.

I'm actively avoiding discussion of it. It just seems like a waste of time, money and effort.

But I'm enjoying stories like these immensely. :pac:

I know it's a bit late but just think it should be noted that the Ireland v Wales games was absolutely outstanding to watch. Sheer domination by the lads!

If Ireland lose today, I'm blaming the abomination that is that "Ireland's Call" bollox for it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,009 ✭✭✭✭wnolan1992

I've been saying this would happen all week. It always happens when we get cocky and start acting like victory is a sure thing (which is basically what all the media were doing this week).

Ireland were poor enough today in fairness. England deserved the victory. (It kills me to say that btw)

It was more about the whole last home game thing.

Last week was his last home game, this week is his last game in an Ireland shirt. In two weeks it's his last Munster derby in the regular season and possibly his last game in the Aviva. Then it's his last HC quater final and after that it could be his last trip to ravenhill.

And so on and so forth.

G'wan Italy! Celebrated that try more than I've celebrated Irish victories in the past few weeks. :pac:
