Its for 1 or hours? hardly back breaking work holding a bucket. If they have treated you well up to now, then my advise would be to give them a dig out. They are paying for your phone credit. All fundraising goes back into a Club. The coach getting paid has nothing to do with your situation to be honest.

Hope the cash collected in the bucket doesn't go to pay the coach.

Not sure really no one has said anything 1-2 hours, if there own members haven't any interested don`t see why I should be out there, its phone for the club texting club business. have my own phone don't be asking them for credit when I need it and don't wanna be chasing for money im owed. also if im out doing fundraising I would like to know where it is actually going after all what have we learned last few weeks. all money goes into club is that money going to be paying for Christmas meals like the one they went to last week got invite but didn't attend.

I thinks its a disgrace that you asked to beg on the streets with a bucket to provide monetary extras for club members, that are too lazy to beg themselves. You should put in a written complaint to your TUS supervisor and the DSW that you being asked to beg. No use in phone calls they will be forgotten about ! Put it in writing and keep a copy for yourself. I have heard some real horror stories about people on this TUS scheme. One man was asked to pick up dead rats that had been poised around a sports area. He at first said no, but then host "charity" then threatened to report him for not cooperating. Another woman was working with a creche that have a recycling offer of soiled nappies for clients, she was forced to do wash these soiled nappies, while other permanent staff mocked her. What union is covering TUS workers ?

if you have a proper supervisors ( who would be there on the day of the interview ) tho could arrange with them hold off placing you till your course is finished , you could be waitng 6 months or more after the interview before you get called with offers from placing looking for free labour.

So back to the grind after the Christmas, and first pay check im down an extra 15 euro, now my circumstances are im claiming for girlfriend and two kids i can remember that day i was interviewed an extra 20 euro for doing this no mention of being taxed till i looked on previous post before i started. All the supervisor could say was i don't know you shouldn't have to be tax, well i hope you don't pay tax to ya i have a couple before who payed tax. Cant do her job or just a liar so after emergency tax i was paying about 10 euro tax and now first week back its gone up to 30 euro she doesn't know mite be because of new tax year, told me to ring revenue explained situation told me im being taxed as single person doesn't matter who i claim for as its total wage the get from tus crowd that they tax, and that i only should be paying about 15 euro tax at most and couldn't understand why i payed so much. And there's being no tax change from last year, supervisor had got on to say that revenue person must be confused that i should be paying tax once i hit 317 euro which seems strange. Its says on revenue that a single person is tax 20% on there earnings and 40% if they earn over, mine is 32000 for the year yet i only earn about 22000. So can anyone help so i can get this clown to sort mess out? my total being payed from tus is 412 euro.

Ring Revenue again. You'll need your PPS No, and the TUS scheme company Number. Should be able to sort it with one phone call. It's possible that you will be taxed as a single person, even though you're claiming welfare for a partner. There is a different view taken by Revenue to Welfare. It's also possible you're in the higher PRSI bracket.

Well it seems that I'm not out of the TUS woods just yet, in regards to having to do my course around TUS as another poster here has said.

I thought that once you are doing a FAS course, you wouldn't be called back to TUS. Well, I suppose if you are doing a course in baldoyle, then you cannot do TUS as that particular course is from 9 till 4. But if you are doing an online course, then I'd assume you could still be called on by TUS any time.

My baldoyle course doesn't start till june, but at the moment I am almost finished the microsoft word (N12) course. I suppose I could still be called for interview with this crowd, I hope not though as I'm learning more on the course than I would be painting a wall or working in a charity shop.

I haven't heard back from them since anyway yet. I want these certificates on my CV when I do the exam, not a bloody TUS charity job on my CV.

The only thing I'm worried about is, if I was forced onto this TUS work before my baldoyle course, because I really want to do this particular course in june and get a certificate if exam is passed, which it will be.

Does anyone know if the tus payment was cut in the budget? Last week and today I received 198 euro, down a tenner, is this the same for everyone?

I am down this week as well... Maybe it has something to do with christmas falling mid week?

Edit… Its tax. Should get it back though. Apparently there is a delay in sorting tax credits..

Check your payslips. That should tell you where the money was deducted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,099 ✭✭✭jos22

    depressing start to the newyear

    came across this
the government are going to start paying notorious multinational security firm G4S to track down people on social welfare and force them into Jobbridge, Tús and the other free labour scams for profitable firms. 2014 Ireland.

"It's about paying private companies taxpayer money to exploit the unemployed with the money they would be spending on social welfare anyway. The likes of these schemes are now replacing real paid jobs with unpaid work. It's not creating work. It's creating the conditions for ordinary people who go through school and training to go on to work for nothing."

I only seem to get my payslips every 5 or 6 weeks- they wait until there's a bunch of them and then post the lot! I havnt received any since early December

I'm down to 194 since last week and can't check my payslips as I don't receive them every week, maybe every 6 weeks as another poster stated.
The whole scheme is a bit of a joke to be honest, very unorganized where I'm placed anyway, don't know what everyone else thinks.

They should be able to email them to you. It's not right that you have to wait so long for them. Meet with your Supervisor and get it sorted. After all it's their job, so don't let them fob you off.

Does anyone else have a problem with the conditions in their placement?

I've been in my placement since May but since the winter the conditions have been terrible as it's freezing. The legal minimum temperature for an office or "sedentary" job is 16 - 17.5 degrees but it is way lower than that. I have complained to my supervisor but there's not much they can do apart from refusing to send the company new participants. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what's the next step if either Tús or the employer refuse to do anything about it.

Like any job, if conditions aren't suitable, you can leave. Notify your supervisor in writing, keeping a copy and if things don't improve, use this as your reason for leaving. You CANNOT be made work under such conditions.
Are you in a Union? If not, join and get them onside.

Anyone else still short on payments? I got a bit more than last week (a few €) but don't have a payslip to see what is going on.

Checked my tax credits online and all grand so I am now thinking I am being charged USC as it almost works out what I am short is the higher 7% rate..

When I called my Tus supervisor he said "you seem to have a handle on it so.. Ill leave it for you to sort" !!!!!

    ?!

I am on the same payment since Christmas (208) and haven't had any deductions. I get a payslip every week - I think you are entitled to that so maybe ask your supervisor about it, um, not that your supervisor seems to be a whole lot of help.

I was getting the 208.. now it €174.73 & €178.49 Its random numbers and until I get my payslip.. I won't have a clue.

I am signed up to revenue online so I know it is not tax..

I had the correct tax credits and was still being taxed had to ring the tax office 4 times before they sorted it,

each time they sent me a copy of the same tax cert information form with credits on etc.

so its possible, its a cock up on their system,

they issue the payslip digitally or they can do so they should be able to send you a pdf copy while your waiting to get the paper ones.

you should get them weekly, I get one every week but only drop back my hours sheets every few weeks.

Tus office first , then the Tax office..

God help them!! Someone will be crying at the end of the day. The "meh" attitude of Tus works however…...

Just after getting one of these letters. Anyone know if the work one will be offered be actually in the town where they'd be living or would they be expected to travel and if so how far?

Reason I'm asking is I have a child with a disability and along with having numerous hospital appointments etc I need to do the school run every day. I've no problem doing this TUS thing but evenings or night work is all I can really do given my circumstances. I wonder if they will take my circumstances into serious consideration if I told them or will they just put me out to work in some place far away and make my life even more difficult as it already is?
