I think these scheme are better than lying in bed all week but only if participants are not being exploited and taken advantage of, but unfortunately this seems to be the case generally. Some supervisors on these schemes whoe's job it is.....is to look after the participants on these schemes (as otherwise without the participants) they would have no job, leave a hell of a lot to be desired and are mainly only interested in their own progression sadly and they are on €700 a week, not just €20+their dole. There are upwards of 70k on these schemes Gateway is the other one I think you were thinking of.

I've had a quick count. I know 11 Supervisors or Assistant Supervisors. Only one could be described as a stickler of doing things by the rules. As long as you turn up, do your hours and at least attempt some training, you are ok. Most do really good jobs. They are responsible for the running of Creches, Daycare Centers, local theater/social or community centers, tidy towns, churchyard and sports fields, etc. The big problem I have with these schemes is - the work is there. These services are needed. So WHY not let people who want to work there full time do so. I agree it's all to do with massaging figures, but if 50% of those 70,000 were given permanent jobs, wouldn't it be great.

Then got another phonecall, sales and admin for a company, I am a web designer but have agreed to go for the interview, oh and back to education is deemed a payment that can make you eligible for it, apparently, even though I was working part time and paying stamps until March this year. Whole scheme makes no sense really. If I was working every weekend how is this deemed unemployed ??

The tax office will then send a new tax cert to your new TUS employer and a copy to you. Your new tax code will then be applied to your wages, y our emergency tax will be repaid to you by your TUS employer and everything should be sorted. Good luck.

I was allowed to use my skills and attributes and bring them to my placement. I was teaching for the year and also helping with the computers. It was brilliant. The day I finished I attended an interview for a very similar position and on Wednesday got confirmation that I had succeeded in getting the new position. I’m thrilled and I start this Monday. The TUS staff that I was in contact over the year were great and gave me a glowing reference. I hope those who are currently on the scheme enjoy their time on it and that it will help to open doors for them that were previously not opened. It’s easier to get a job when you already have one. Good luck everyone!

They are paying for your phone credit. All fundraising goes back into a Club. The coach getting paid has nothing to do with your situation to be honest.
