Did some team lose a game by 11 points recently? Maybe there's a bit of confusion.

God I hope this gets sorted out. If that plant closes Killarney will be in a lot of trouble.

Expect siptu to blame employers. Did something similar happen in Lufthansa some years ago where Union did not agree to change in work practise and in last few weeks announce closure. The stakes are high in this game especially for killarney

Killarney, Tralee, killorglin, kenmare, listowel. There are workers from all over Kerry in there.

They added 70 million directly into the economy last year.

SIPTU are a disgrace. Have they offered to pay the mortgages of all the workers when Liebherr closes?

There are scathing SIPTU comments on thejournal.ie article

its the old stock that are pushing for it, they don't care because if it closes they will get a big redundancy cheque.

it might be over 600 jobs in there but it is at least another 600 around the country with all the work the sub out to other fabricators.

if the workers are not happy with the money they are on why don't leave and look for a job in the real world, they would not be long going back because they are on savage money. unions have a lot to answer for in this country.

It is worrying times for any young man with a mortgage and family in there.

    Because they are too institutionalised.

how is it possible for 160 people to hold other 500 plus workers to ransom ?
Not all 500 are in union.

I worked with a Company from 2007-2009 where I was told I would have to sign up to be a member of SIPTU. In the 2 years I was there I never once met a union official or heard of any visit to the workplace, even when 90 of the 110 staff got sacked just before Christmas they went through their ordeal without the union being present as it was for me when the sword fell on me 6 months after,no details on options, how to sign on etc etc, just the stupid letter stopped coming at christmas that referred to me as "comrade" stopped coming.

    Stupid Incompetent Petty Truculent Useless

It is almost a gut reaction to say that if they are for it I am aginnit.

I also Think that there may be a union man in the Kerry/Cork reigon whom I will refer to as tk and he is one self-serving pos if ever I met one

Do you think their jobs are/were affected by yesterday's vote ?

I hear its a 2.5% rise they are looking for, assuming they are all on the marginal rate of tax, big gamble to take when in effect, they wont even get 1.25% after tax...

When I finish work ( at liebherr ) I will.
What I will say is that their is at this moment or in the foreseeable future not a chance of this company closing or indeed outsourcing work to Germany or anywhere else. And maybe Ye drama queens should look into the 11 point plan the company are trying to enforce which would have dire consequences on the workers life's and families. And would also cost a lot more to the workers than the 2.5% ( 38cent per hour) being offered in conjunction with the 11 point plan being implemented.

Were still waiting for this elusive 11 point plan?

I don't think you do work in Liebherr!

I'm not sure, a few euro no doubt, certainly appears stupid to me...

Ok would you not agree that the 500 not in siptu were pretty naive to let siptus 260 decide their future
