It does beg the question...am I barking mad evening running the yoke! And my mileage will decrease now that I'm starting a new job in Feb!

Small mileage is a good excuse to hold on to a big bus IMO.

Congrats on the job dude. ;)

Fcuk that :pac: the hardship I've had with mine adding to that dpf no way. Ah no I suppose if you got it well checked out. But if the asking price was strong on it I'd leave it as you will have to spend money on it at some stage.

Lads, I recently got aluminium pedals for the car. The accelerator has different screws to the clutch and brake so that you can attach it and not have the screws protruding out the back which would cause you to not get full throttle.

The problem is, I drilled the holes in the accelerator with a 4.5mm drill bit when it should have been a 3mm :( Besides buying a new accelerator pedal, anyone have any bright ideas about how I can undo what I have done? I have it in my head that I could fill these holes with an epoxy of some sort and start again but I don't know.

I have different screws (with a nut at the back) on the bottom 2 holes but can't do that on the top 2.

I know doing this would kill you but it does work.

Any chance you could just put new holes beside the wrong ones? You'll probably have to fill the old ones for strength… Failing that could you just glue the cover onto the pedal?

Could you not buy M4 or whatever size counter sunk screws and tap the existing pedal to suit?

That's a weird accelerator pedal. Any car I have ever owned the accelerator pedal came from the top like the clutch and brake.

It will never be as strong as if it was drilled right the first time with filler.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 239 ✭✭thats not gone well

If it was me, I'd just go up the next size and re-drill and tap.

I'd always be wary of the filler coming unstuck :o

    I would too.

I would be hard to get such a small amount of filler to hold. It would probably break up either drilling or screwing into it. I'd probably glue the whole thing on, screws and all, with tech 7 or epoxy. Either that or countersink it for an M4 as mentioned.

I'd pop rivet it if I thought it wouldn't break the plastic pedal behind.

See the problem is that the screws that are meant to be used are very small in order to allow the pedal to go the whole way down. Using anything bigger than them is going to stop it going down fully.

I think I'll go with Interslice's suggestion of Tec7 because the more I think about it, the better and easier it sounds.
