If you can't manage time to play because of your gf or bf, why don't you invite them to try a few?
They might like it and join you in the fun.

Ah, you're new, so the fact that my wife can't abide by videogames wasn't apparent to you, it's lucky I get to keep them in the house at all!

That is because she haven't found one that suits her... or not!

She used to like Duck Hunt, she won a NES long before I met her, but her then boyfriend took it rather badly when she kept beating him, so lets just say it became safer to lose, and so was set her opinion of videogames.
I am a bit aspergers about it all tbh, my collection is more like a hoard and so, perhaps, she is right to reflect another pov, given that if she was behind it I'd have spent every cent we have on gaming.

    But I don't have a fibger!
    What's a fibger?

It's kinda line hamgin, you do have a hamgin right? No horde is complete without a hamgin or a fibger.

Ive been playing my 3DS a lot lately after not touching it for about a year. I find it easier to get the time to play that for some reason.

It's probably the pick up and play factor. I find it easier too to play a handheld, as it's much easier then setting up a console.

Lugging the PS3 into the jacks is a bit of a hassle tbh unless you're planning on a significant 'movement'.

Believe it or not some people just don't like video games as an entertainment medium full stop.

I was like you once... full of hope and optimism...

Get an XL. The 2DS can wait surely, considering you already have a 3DS...it's simply a less functional 3DS. The PS4 too can wait, at least another year. XL all the way

I'm inclined to do a lot of my gaming these days on a laptop or a phone. That way I can be in the living room while girlfriend/family are watching tv/reading and I'm only being partially antisocial rather than holed up in a room on the other side of the house like the grumpy teenager I really am inside.

Get both! The Luigi XL and a US 2DS and I'll buy them off you so you can bother the funds towards a ps4. And when you sell that buy the Zelda XL.

For a moment I thought you were helping but now I think you are, indeed, mocking me.... I'm watching you Mr OTT, if that is your real name....

    Sorry.

Do get an XL though, if you don't have one and those Luigi ones well be future hard to get ones. Also then proceed to get Fire Emblem and SMT: Devil Survivor Overclocked. And an US 2DS for the likes of a Code of the Princess (the spiritual successor to that Guardian Heroes lark), which is a side scrolling beat 'em up, your fave.

We shall see, I might have a line on a cheap, new 3ds:XL, not sure... Not one of the limited edition models but that's OK.
The Luigi one is lovely though.
If the XL works out I'll put my next gen ambitions on hold and keep my lovely GB Micro, and Ibara as well.
Place would look bare without them!

This is the reason I keep my cabs/pc/xbox in the dining room,
The missus is watching telly in the sitting room and im gaming I'll shout in "want coffe?" every now and then to pretend im there!
most of the time she ends up making it as Im too busy shouting at the screen with serious profanities!

Dining room is definitely a good idea. Having them in the sitting room itself poses it's own problems.

The FrancoB headphone jacks are a godsend for cab gaming with people in the room. Although sometimes you'll still get complaints about clicking buttons/arcade sticks. Raiden 2's lack of an autofire button is particularly bad for it :pac:

And then there are the profanities..
