On a family level, help out where possible be it in the family business when home or if the aunties need anything.

I'm starting a new job in January so hoping that works out. I want to do a PhD so hopefully this will be a step in the right direciton.
I'd started going to the gym towards the end of last year but had to jack it in to move down the country. I'd like to start back at it as I lost about 3 stone last year.
I've always been single so I wouldn't mind meeting a nice lady as well. Going to try and put myself out there a bit more to meet new people.

We sat again for an hour and a half discussing maps and figures and always getting back to that most damnable creation of the perverted ingenuity of man - the County of Tyrone.

Got a few goals, firstly, to breed my first animals, ever since I was young, I've had a passion and interest for animals of all sorts, I'd like to turn this hobby into a profession or at least a way to supplement income, so I'd like to hatch out some baby snakes to test the water before taking the plunge.
I'd like to join a gym and improve my physique, a little over a year ago, I was borderline morbidly obese, I decided to do something about that, and within 5 months I was average weight after losing in excess of 40lbs. I gave up on eating healthy and working out, and I'm still average weight, but I'd like to take this to the next level and get me a set of abs.
I'd like to go to more gigs, last year, I went to my first gig in Bon Jovi at Slane and I enjoyed it immensely.
I'd also like to travel a bit, nothing much, to the UK and Germany for a few short trips, and I'd love to be able to go to Japan some time this year.

Just after looking at my 2013 aims as per the other thread, and overall it's been a successful year with things like my acceptance to do an exchange in Canada and more to build on for 2014.

    To review my previous aims....
    karaokeman wrote: »
    Good thread OP, my top in order of importance;

    1. Grow closer to the friends I've made over the last few months, because I've made a lot
    2. Stop wasting so much time on the internet/ reading AH
    3. Start doing my reading well in advance for college assignments/exams
    4. Do a better job planning my career/ learning about other job areas
    5. Look after myself more, cook more of my own dinners etc.
    6. Find a girlfriend, I know if I have this attitude it won't happen, that's why its last even though the rewards would exceed the other 5

    1. Currently I have 2 really close groups, which is more than I can say, compared to my 21 years before 2013 where I only had 1 or 2 close friends. Granted quality is better than quantity, but I'm confident with at least a few people in each group, so here's hoping things will develop more in the new year.

    2. Generally I spend 30 minutes a day checking a few sites I like to keep myself updated on, I don't diss as much as I used to (thankfully).

    3. Living with people for the first time, this aim has become yet even more challenging, but I will work better to get the balance right.

    4. I have my heart set on becoming an English lecturer specializing in Irish Studies and Romanticism.

    5. I am washing my own clothes and cooking, however I do need to cook more variety as I do the same meal an awful lot.

    6. At 21 years and 11 months last June, I finally got into the dating game. A late ass start, but a start. I plan to keep trying until I meet that special someone.

So on to my aims for 2014....

    1. Get to know my new Canadian friends better / while still staying close to my good Irish friends.
    2. Balance work + play, aim for more than a pass, and get this international degree.
    3. Travel a little more, maybe do inter railing in Europe next summer. A sun holiday would be nice too, as I have never been on one outside the family.
    4. Ask the English department at my home university if they are doing any research I can get involved in, as I would like experience for being a lecturer.
    5. Volunteer more.
    6. Read more, particularly in my area of research interest.
    7. Learn to drive well, and renew my provisional.
    8. Keep putting myself out there, hopefully meet a nice woman.

    Get out of Ireland
    Make new, better friends
Meet someone that isn't a headwreck. I'm done with being a commitmentphobe and am ready to settle down.
    Be happy

    Pretty achievable I think

I've kept my last 4 years' resolutions as I only set one achievable one a year.

2014's resolution is to start donating blood and to continue doing it regularly.

I've always been told I'm too soft, and I've always denied it thinking it was the other person's problem. But I'm starting to think it is my problem (if I'm honest I can be walked all over and it does build resentment).

So my sole goal for 2014 is to become harder and tougher.

    To improve my posture.

Here's my goals for 2014 - they seem a little ambitious, but I've put a lot of work in during 2013 to ensure I have my best foot forward come January on all fronts.

    1. Launch and grow my small business idea
    2. Maintain a decent level of fitness - cycle to college and do calisthenics.
    3. Get a 1.1 degree (in my final year now)
    4. Read the Financial Times (free online version through my college intranet) every morning
    5. Do No Fap for 90 Days. I've heard good things about it, but mainly, I just want a challenge. :pac: :P

Currently recovering from a nasty ankle injury, once I'm back walking properly again, I'd like to focus more on exercise and good health.
Concentrate on making a challenging work project a success.
Spend more time with my wife and kid and less pi55ing about in the pub or watching trash TV.
Learn to cook a more varied menu.
    Save some money.
Bring my kid to LegoLand in England.
Bring the family on holiday somewhere nice and hot.
Get involved with a local coder dojo to teach young kids how to code.
Improve my own coding skills that are really dusty now that I'm in project management.
    Treat people better especially friends.
    Pick up more certifications.

    1. Make more friends (I've finished college recently and finding I'm drifting apart from my current group of mates, leading to a sh*tload of boredom and loneliness)
    2. Hit the gym 3 times per week and gain some muscle mass
    3. Move out of home (preferably for a year to Asia teaching English)
    4. Quit porn for good
    5. Become less of a shy person
    6. Spend less time mindlessly browsing the net

Get a pay rise to match my new job title.
    Go back to college again.
Continue succeeding in controlling and maintaining my mental health at the level I'm currently at, so I don't have to go back on meds.
Spend more time with my friends.

Work more on developing my skills for a hobby I've let slide for far too long.

Aims for 2014 is to get on with my life. Recently seperated a number of months after a long relationship even though it was mutual and very amicable it still broke my heart but got a bit of counciling which if you were to ask me last year I would have said thats for the weak minded, ha did I get a life lesson. But get myself in shape, get my confidence back and look forward to the future and not dwell on the past or what could have been. Best of luck in the new year to all boarders.

After a couple of freaky deaky years full of financial woes, injuries, uncertainty and other crises I need to get my life back now that I've decided to stay in Ireland...

    1) Find a full time job

    2) Move out again

    3) Choose a part time course to study

    4) Take care of vehicular matters and continue expanding my mechanical skills
-Fix up the car/ convert it LPG/ tax it for the full year (for the first time ever)
-Do the head job on my Aprilia and fix up the road rash
-Put together a budget for fixing my Suzuki (probably a winter project next year)

    5) Get some formal guitar lessons to fill those holes

    6) Do more motorbike track days

    7) Learn more about food and experiment to try lose the perma-flab

    8) Leave the country at least once (ideally go the the Isle of Man TT)

Gulp!! There will be more and fudge knows how many I can get done. The first priority is a job.

    Improve my fitness levels.

Lose the single status that I've had for nearly 2 years.

Hopefully keep my job as the place I work in is having major problems.
