I have no issue with someone who doesn't like the show, but to call people who like it simpletons/morons/mentally deficient (!), that's nothing but snobbery and arrogance.

It's a poorly written excuse for a comedy, it's success is bewildering.

Its success is not that bewildering when you consider the success of the vast majority of reality shows. Lowest common denominator television sells. In a market where the more discerning viewer will either not bother with television at all and watch either box sets or take their television from netflixs offerings those that are in charge of commissioning shows will look for a show that has a reasonable chance of success with the remaining viewers. The remaining viewers will be made up largely from an older age group and probably the less academically inclined. Also those without access to the internet which would be more common than boardsies think.

O Carroll's work is gruff juvenile and explicit; verbal diarrhoea. It is simple and straight forward; the sort of stuff you would see in your local hall. The selling point is O Carroll though. He is very good at selling the product (I wouldn't call it acting) he has created. He is the star quality. This he should be complimented for. He is not making art. He is entertaining the masses and it is more a reflection on society than O Carroll that his "show" is lapped up as it appears to be.

The English audience love stage Irish man antics. Dion Boucicault was the first man to make a fortune from it in the 19th Century. George Bernard Shaw derided the use of it and now Brendan O Carroll has gone back to it. Brendan O Carroll does not claim to be the great GBS so the man can make his money how he likes.

Just saw 'Tommy Tiernan's Little Cracker' on Sky Atlantic.
It was the greatest load of self-obsessed drivel I have seen in
    a long while. :(

Just put the above list in descending order of God awful TV starting with MBB and that should solve the flame war in this thread.

Christmas TV is sh8te in general. I think people have lost perspective in this thread.

What type of gombeen is actually entertained by this unadulterated pile of sh**e???

I would rather cut my balls off than sit through an entire episode of that dung.

I'd also hazard an 'educated' guess and say that at least 60% of the viewing figures above are all the same people watching the same TV crap.

(before the smart Alic's of AH's :) , 83% of all statistics on the internet are made up and I am 71% certain of that).
