that'd be a great fun thing to own i'd say, definitely a car i'd love to run for a while!

another sad case imo of it being very hard to justify €700+ per year in tax to drive around in a clio.

I'd say they'd be quite juicy too. Nevertheless a nice car and worth close to what the owner is asking.

I can get insured on S14A for €1500 but NO ONE would quote me on a 172.
    That's why they're cheap.

I live in north cork too and all that fell here was rain and lots of it.

I thought that may be the case hence why I said some parts of it - the C103 crew seemed surprised to hear reports of snow :D.

    1994 Volvo 940 Estate
    2.0 Petrol, automatic
No miles listed - might be high - but condition looks good
    NCT 8/14, Tax 12/13

This is the 3rd old Swede I've posted in here this week - IMO they are good value family cars; reliable, spacious, cheap to buy and cheap to fix.

And now for something completely different to the above!

    2002 Smart ForTwo
    600cc, automatic
    66k Miles
    NCT 9/14, tax 8/14
    €2250
The first Smart I've seen come into bangernomics territory (just about). Lots of test, tax, cheap, and different to the norm. I'd rock one.

    2007 Vauxhall Vectra Estate
    2.8 V6 Petrol, automatic
    93k Miles
    NCT 9/14, no tax (:()
    €2250
I'd rock this - its a bit of a sleeper. Nice spec too. Shame about the tax.

Word to the wise - if you put your car on done deal - its best to put it under its correct model name

The civic above was down as an Accord at one place in the add - and hence was in with Accords.

    (shrugs shoulders)

Also - and this relates to another car I saw on done deal - while looking for candidates for this tread - don't go making a big deal about how you've always minded the car extremely well - and then put up pictures of the front tyres which need a change.

Shame really - the car apart from the front tyres actually looked like it was well minded.

Rant over - Happy Christmas to all on boards.ie motors

Nice find, first Smart in here, but not really bangernomics though. From the ad:
no 2 grand bids please 2250 is the last price

I've no doubt he will get full asking price, or very close to it...

    Ah, I didn't see that :o

I guess not, but its the closest to bangernomics that you'll get, for a while at least.

The Vectra is open to offers though - and €2k for a 07 estate car with nice spec is good value imo regardless of the tax.

Had a look again - yes theres paint flaking of the front bumper - nice bargaining point.

Can't see the dent - not saying its not there - just I can't see it

Big miles, but crazy cheap. Only 1 owner from new. Short enough NCT, what's wrong with it?

Jason O'Brien likes to let his cars go cheaply. He was selling the 04 Peugeot 607 2.2 I posted a while back with NCT and tax into next year for €995.

Thats a top find though if there isn't anything wrong with it.

I thought it would be another year at least until we got done of those aluminum XJs in here :eek: I hope it's not too good to be true!

As for the smart, I posted one of those in here a few months ago (2,250 IIRC). Maybe we'll start to see a lot more of them in here :)

Would definitely need to be very careful with a car like that one - with those miles etc.

Obviously theres potential to be something wrong with it.

But bearing in mind this is a 3.0 litre car in IRELAND - with 240,000 miles - 2 massive things going againsed this - could it be argued - that even if the car was in perfect condition - it needs to be this cheap - just to stand a chance of moving.

I suppose the question one has to ask - is what would be the value of this car IF it was in perfect condition - with this level of mileage on the clock - 240,000 miles.

One would have to factor that againsed what the cars actual faults are.

I wonder did the garage take the car in - gave an absolute rock bottom trade in based on high miles, big engine (impossible to sell the salesman will say) - and is now selling it rock bottom - just to get rid of the thing.

It would be a lovely car no doubt if it was in perfect condition - was drooling over you tube videos of this exact model of XJ just two nights ago

It's only 24,000 miles a year. Highish but hardly excessive. I suspect that will sell very quickly at that price, once it checks out ok that is :)
