All the service history is stamped in Galway and now car is in Dublin. Wonder has it had much servicing since it moved or was it purchased recently and someone trying to flog it again quick?

It's only 24,000 miles a year. Highish but hardly excessive. I suspect that will sell very quickly at that price, once it checks out ok that is :)

I agree - my point was that 240,000 miles on the clock would turn a lot of people off - especially since its a Jaguar.

A lot of irish people think that 240,000 miles basically means fit for scrap heap.

So it will have an impact on the value of the car - and given that its a 3 litre as well - the value is only ever going one way - rock bottom.

Of course - theres a very decent chance of something been wrong with it - especially if its only one owner from new or something.

I may be looking at this wrong - and I have to say that assuming theres something wrong with the car from the off - is almost certainly the right attitude to have.

Could save a lot of heartache

    I think we're all agreed :)

Big engine, big miles. Very hard to sell (you'd have to nearly give it away)

There might, there might not be anything wrong with the car, but the prudent bangernomist treads with care :D

    My ads on adverts.ie:

Victron stuff for sale, Multiplus-II, Quattro, other inverters and batteries and usually some watches!

If I were buying that Jag, I'd be buying to run it into the ground until it dies.

I love it even more because of the miles.

Yes good point - I wonder though - if that's the whole service book - could there be other pages we can't see that are stamped in Dublin???.

Something to check out more closely to be sure - could be something as simple as the owner been from Galway - moving to Dublin for work - and not needing the car anymore.

Key thing would be to establish is how many owners the car has - is the person selling the current owner on the VLC (looks like a private sale) - if not why not???.

And if they are the current registered owner - how long has it been in their ownership (assuming its had more then one owner) - and what servicing has it had when in Dublin.

It could well be the case that if the cars been owned in Dublin for a while - its been serviced by a non franchised Toyota garage - so may not have stamps on the book.

Definitely something to be careful about - I was almost considering going up country to look at what looked like a nice car with apparent stamped main dealer history - until I looked at the pictures of the service book more - and spotted a gap in mileages between services at one point in the history. That was a different car to be fair not this corolla

That was the end of that - if the ad was misleading me on that - what else was it missing out on

Completely counter productive for a seller to make big claims of the car - condition and service history wise - when pics contradict them.

Cars you otherwise may have gone to see - are discounted - something for private sellers to think about ;)

Is something going on with the bonnet/wing gap of the first Primera (the blue one) I posted - had a look at it again after posting???.

Or is it the pic or my eyes deceiving me???.

Either way I prefer the 2nd one (the pinky/purple one)

I think it looks like the bonnet might be out of alignment half way up alright. Might have not being pushed down properly and flew up when driving , something like that.

Might be just the way the photo was snapped though

The sisters old starlet. And it was my other sisters before that. She sold it to the ones selling it now for 250 euro a few weeks ago, without an nct and needing a left cv joint and some other work. The mileage is genuine and if you could get it a for a bit less I think it'd be a good buy.

    nct to april, 900 euro

So this lad thinks the NCT and a CV joint is worth €650. He belongs in the dreamer thread,

NCT on its own is worth a bit - and bear in mind that's a small car which is something that would be in demand with the typical buyer of a car in this price range.

Doubt youd get a decent Yaris for that price - so if its all good - I can't see that its a hugely ridiculous price.

Maybe there will be something coming off it with a bit of negotiation too :)

Well she sold it very cheaply as it wasn't worth alot as it was and she didn't want to put money into it. I think the fellows who bought it were mechanics so it was a simple job for them. Imo it'd be a good car for 600 euro.

    1998 Isuzu Trooper
    3.1 TD, automatic
    123k Miles (198k Kms)
    NCT 2/15, no tax
    €1800
Might be good value considering the price of others, and I'm told the 3.1 engine is best in these. Awful tax though.
