    Radweld ?

I have tomorrow off work so will get under the car and see if its just a hose or if its the Radiator itself. I have to drive it today but am bringing coolant with me. I hate when these things happen.

If its only a trickle the radweld will do the job man!

I saw the most bizarre sign on a lamppost today saying Switch off Fridges between 10pm and 8am!

I would at all costs avoid driving until you sort it, the pressure in the cooling system could easily turn a pinhole into a big hole

    What car is it anyhow?

    What car is it anyhow?

A Chaser, not exactly a 1litre Micra. I also wouldn't put radweld or the likes into a car I cared about. Grand in an econobox to get you out of a hole

    1JZ or 2JZ?

I picked up an OE rad for the Supra for small enough money IIRC.

Thanks Gary, There are a few Radiators on ebay alternatively are there any radiator repair specialists in Dublin? Not a job I would expect any mechanic to be able to do.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,090 ✭✭✭✭Drummerboy08

Call KC Products, Nissens do a radiator for the 1JZ and 2JZ, and KC are the distributors.

Any decent mechanic worth his salt should be able to replace a rad fairly quickly, it's a simple enough job.

I wouldn't go buying a rad until you're sure it's the rad, could be a hose, expansion bottle etc

Yeah, I would not be in a hurry to throw away money but am looking for options, I will know for sure what direction to go in after having a good look around under the car with a flashlight, the overflow was also low so hope best case its a lose hose, new Radiator maybe on the cards and worst case Head Gasket......

For the love of god don't go saying that to a mechanic :p

Let them diagnose it if its the case

Bah. Having replaced the coil pack, the ECU is still throwing misfire codes for the same cylinder. On the motorway drive home under WOT I started getting a flutter in the engine from about 4500rpm on and the same cylinder again showing a misfire. I'm leaving towards an injector at this stage.

Any way of checking without swapping the injector to a different cylinder?

With registered vagcom you can run output tests to check the injectors. Don't know if it would work though unless the injectors permanently bust.

    :)

Once engine up to temp excess heat will be generated, thermostat will open and circuit including radiator in use.

Rad required all 4 seasons unless car never get to stage when thermostat open.

Back from work now, I just checked and the radiator is full, but the reservoir bottle is low, hope this is a good sign, too dark to check anything else.

Some smart-arse has edited the Citroen Acadiane article on Wiki. Funny reading. :D
On the road, despite its 602 cc air-cooled motor, an Acadiane could keep up with modern traffic. The driving style most likely to ensure brisk forward motion involved leaving the foot planted on the floor, changing up only when there were no more revs and never, ever braking for bends.
The key to brisk progress in any A-Series Citroen is keeping the engine speed up and getting a feel for when the 'terminal angle of tilt' has been reached. Once the vehicle is in a bend and is not going to be subjected to further body roll, the throttle can be applied with abandon. Despite giving the impression that the thing will roll over, this is highly unlikely while travelling forward. Staying in a low gear allows for understeer to be dealt with by backing off lightly. Apart from that, it's just a matter of hanging on and believing. The above does not necessarily apply in the wet or when there is ice or snow on the road.

Is it only the KIA Rio that has the indicator stalk on the right, or is it actually all KIAs?

Optima and Ceed is on the left anyway, can't say for any others.

Early Ceeds have it on the right. Everytime I drive the sisters one I have the wipers flying at the first junction. Infuriating.

It should be on the right for RHD cars. That's the way they do it in Japan. It means that you can change gear and indicate (like on a roundabout) at the same time. Much handier when you get used to it :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,306 ✭✭✭Mycroft H

Most jap imports I've driven have had them backwards.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,728 ✭✭✭✭CianRyan

Every time I take my Mazda for a spin I set the wipers off, then do the same thing when I get into the Megane.

Makes the most sense having on it right, as DZ said.

I'm in a worse situation where I regularly drive my car and my dads so I get wrong all the time :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,917 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

My RX8 was a jap import so it had the indicator on the right and wipers on the left. What really annoyed me was when my dad would drive it, the windscreen would be fine apart from a few bugs but he'd then put on the wipers instead of indicating and that smeared ****e all over the windscreen that you wouldn't otherwise see!

Only if you're not used to it, give it time and it's perfect.
