My sister named her newborn Albert.

I tried to talk her out of it.

Has Gobnait made the list yet?

I knew a girl in secondary school withe Gobnait as her second name. We found that out when she did her Leaving Cert and had to submit her full name.

    Cyril

What's wrong with Cyril. Sure it's a great name. The most masculine of masculine names

Is she calling the baby Bertie or Albert? I like Albie.

    Sam
    Max
    Ned

Had sheepdogs called all of these names so when I hear them on kids I feel like telling them to come by or away.

Lol, apologies. If it makes you feel any better, my real name has been mentioned a couple of times too.

    Sometimes when I don't like a person, I don't like their name.

There's nothing wrong with the name but I associate the name with a person that I have a problem with.

Am I odd or does anyone else feel the same way?

Rosh -een. My daughters has the same name and we pronounce it Rosh-een. It bugs me when people call her Roe-sheen and I correct them on it.

So because you pronounce it wrong and ignore the fada on the "o" you think everyone else should?? Interesting. If you wanted it pronounced Rosheen you should've spelled it that way.

It's not odd, you associate the name with a dickhead, happens to everyone.

Just be careful not to treat others like crap just because they share a handle with someone you dislike.

Sounds simple but it would depress you how many people do exactly that.

I wrote that post because I am so aware that just because you have a certain name you shouldn't treat a person in a shabby way. I try to be nicer to that person. I just think that killing people with kindness, confuses them and makes life easier.

Actually, it is depressing that people judge you by your name.

Brigid is pretty awful alright. My gran was called Brigid and even she insisted on being called Maeve instead.

My name keeps coming up in top baby names, even though it's fairly old-fashioned.

It's just so harsh on the ear. They taint the person bearing them for all eternity, I'd certainly get my name changed if i was called anything liek Brigid, but then I'd have bigger problems probably as I'm a guy.

I can see why with Ilyana, it's much more pleasing on the ear while not being far-fethced.

Collette (nearly makes me want to spew just typing it, and I've no idea why.)

John-Paul. Because we now know your mammy took a religious turn in 1979 with the pope being here and wouldn't let your da use one of those rubbers he'd smuggled in from the North.

Besides the stupid names famous people give their children it would have to be:

    Mary
    Margaret
    John
    Paul

    George
    Ringo

    Crap film as well :)

I can think of at least four different guys named Ryan who I dislike for various reasons. Some famous, some not.
