Have you any concept of perspective? Honestly, it seems like it is an alien concept to you.

To me it is more important that:

    1. The victims of this terrible crime and their families are protected from further suffering, that we can be compassionate enough to remove this band's albums from general sale to that aim.

    OR

    2. 5 lads who have already made a substantial sum of money continue to make more money from songs sung by one of the most evil and committed wretches the music business has ever seen.

I'd rather live in a world where a victim is more important thanks, you go ahead championing the rights of those poor lads to make money off the work of a monster. Knock yourself out.

Can they not start a new group, join other groups? Once the trial is over maybe we can start a feed the Lostprophet's 5 campaign or something.

    Honestly, are you joking?

Are you crazy? A substantial sum of money? *facepalm* They sold 3.5 million records. Not all of them have been on each record. Most of them already have day jobs, from what I've seen on twitter. Let them get on with their lives, and leave them with their meagre earnings.

The victim is more important than WATKINS. But to damage the livelihoods of five men - and their families - because of how messed up he is, that's just wrong. What about the children of his bandmates. Leave them out of it, they must have been investigated and there be no evidence against them. While it's awful that he'll earn money, it's unlikely that any royalty cheques would be substantial.

This was in the news ages ago, the further detail they gave on it was sickening though. Watkins and the two others need locking up for the rest of their days.

Was never a proper Lostprophets fan but the song "shinobi vs dragon ninja" used to be a song I liked, it's tainted now though. Won't be able to listen to it without getting the creeps.

That he was charged was in the news, not the resolution.

His ex partner actually made a complaint almost five years ago:

    http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/showbiz/news/a534317/ian-watkins-child-sex-abuse-police-were-aware-of-claims-in-2008.html

She then made a complaint to the Police Complaints Commission due to the delay in the investigation, which was ultimately dropped due to insufficient evidence.

In a radio interview she said:

The bolded quote is just chilling. I hope the police really start looking seriously into any woman who was in contact with this man to see if there were any other victims.
If what this woman is saying is true, this particular case may just be the tip of the iceberg.

If what she is saying is true the police have a few questions to answer themselves

Its not just the public but also it seems some website like E! news

He wrote: "Thank you to everyone who has supported me today", adding, "My management took swift action to remove my image which was posted due to shoddy journalism. No apology as yet from e online."

The story published by E! Online was also tweeted to almost six million followers from the website's official account and was active on their website for more than half an hour before they removed it.

I can't believe they haven't apologised to him. It was such lazy bloody journalism, it's not like the correct Ian Watkins hasn't been all over the news in the last few days. They look nothing alike, either.

I would be behind him 100% if he were to sue the pants of E! They're gutter press anyway.

Surely he can sue the absolute balls off E!

Perhaps that's why they haven't approached him to apologise- they're probably seeking as much legal advice as possible.

    Still comes across as scummy.

In all fairness, this isn't odd. He laughed at a joke. As did everyone else including the audience.
Sure you can look back on stuff now and claim it was all odd or creeepy.

The camera did focus on him after the punchline though. Coincidental obviously but what are the chances!

They're not tasked with getting a guilty person off, but with ensuring they get fair representation. .

Nonsense. If the brief were to find that there was something erroneous in the evidence (for example, the videos seized were obtained under a warrant that was meant to be executed a day earlier) they are duty bound to seek a nolle prosequi (however you spell it)l for their client based on the illegality of the obtaining of the evidence.

One of the worst cases I recall was that of Ian Huntley. The QC clearly knew of his prior convictions/ arrests yet still agreed to represent his fanciful claims of negligent manslaughter of the two girls. How these already wealthy people can accept money to try their best to get someone back on the street who might get their own daughter/ granddaughter years down the line (stranger coincidences have happened) is too much for me too fathom.

Its strange because eventhough they are well educated, intelligent people it is their job to forego personal ethical beliefs for profit

And how many episodes of Never Mind the Buzzcocks have paedophilia jokes (or rather, jokes referring to paedophiles)?

Read the first few lines of the story and couldn't face reading any further, its sickening beyond belief.

Statement from the band on their facebook page tonight
Earlier this week, we learned that the allegations of child sexual abuse against Ian were true, and that he would not be contesting them in court. Until then, we found them extremely difficult to believe and had hoped it was all a mistake. Sadly, the true extent of his appalling behaviour is now impossible to deny.

Many of you understandably want to know if we knew what Ian was doing. To be clear: We did not. We knew that Ian was a difficult character. Our personal relationships with him had deteriorated in recent years to a point that working together was a constant, miserable challenge. But despite his battles with drugs, his egotistic behaviour, and the resulting fractures and frustrations within our band, we never imagined him capable of behaviour of the type he has now admitted.

We are heartbroken, angry, and disgusted at what has been revealed. This is something that will haunt us for the rest of our lives. Being in a band has always been a labour of love and a platform to inspire people, not to take advantage of them. It's still hard to believe this is happening and that someone we were once so close to has destroyed so many lives, lying every step of the way.
Our hearts go out to Ian's family, the fans and friends he betrayed, and most importantly, the victims of his crimes and others like them. We hope for justice, but also that Ian will truly take responsibility for what he's done. We would urge any other victims to contact the authorities.

I feel sorry for his band mates too. Their careers are now ruined because of his actions. Hopefully they can move on from this and start a new career for themselves.

As has been pointed out many times already in this thread, how many people are married or work with paedophiles and never know about it?

normally I'd agree with this but if you have a look at this link it's obvious that this was an open secret for at least the last 3 years..........I'd find it impossible to believe that the band hadn't heard the rumours if all the fans were talking about it online

There are rumours online that Obama is a lizard creature, should we worry that he's laying the groundwork to our e slavement?

Rumour is a very dangerous thing and you can understand why his band mates didn't believe it. The fact that the police showed no interest in investigating the accusations says a lot a out the credibility of them at the time. Hindsight is a great thing to possess but it's unfair to judge people on facts that we now know but they didn't at the time. Watkins is a sick individual and I imagine that he went to great lengths to hide his true self from anyone who he wasn't in total control of.

I would say the chances of them not knowing about him shagging underage teenage fans are approximately zero.
