840 EVO is getting all the praise now for cost/performance.

Linus was on about em but havent had a chance to look at em so Id didnt mention em.

While on an SSD subject, take a peak on overclocker's page. Each of SSD has speed benchmark in it's description. Not sure how precise is that, but it should help you out on decisions.

Also yea 840 EVO is pretty much best SSD to go with atm price/performance wise

So I'm in the planning stages of a watercooling loop for CPU and GPU. Have a rough idea on the components I want but what do you connect the fans to? There will be 6 fans in total on rads, my mobo (Asrock z77 Extreme 4) has 2 CPU fan headers. Do I just connect them all to the PSU and have em run full whack all the time, even through an silent low voltage adapter thing? Or is there a way them up to run according to the temps? What about cooling the GPU, it will be a different temp that the CPU or will the cooling be sufficient regardless? There's a built in fan controller on my case, NZXT Phantom 410, could that be utilised or is it safer without, dunno how low the low settings is on the controller.

Depends on the type of fans you end up with too, but you could use something like this to connect all your fans to one fan header on your motherboard. Then you can use software like Fan Expert or Speedfan to automatically control them all.

Alternatively use a hardware fan controller mounted in an optical bay. I might go for an Aquaero meself as you can use it to monitor flow rates, pump speeds and water temps too (with suitable sensors being used), and even control the fans according to those readings. With the CPU and GPU temps being so different as you say, I plan to ramp up the fans according to water temps, seeing as I'll be going for the one loop. Then it doesn't matter which of the CPU or GPU is being "worked", the fans will step up regardless once there's a rise in water temp.

I am not sure that plugging them all into single fan header is a good idea, you might want to read around about that, problems might arise. I've seen people having problems with just 2 fans split on single header already, might be many things, depends on a motherboard, I guess.

Personally, I'd go with nice 6 knob fan controller that is able to turn off fans when required to keep it silent and tidy. The ones with pre-set resistance are bad choice in general imo. Bios might give you errors at first that CPU fan is missing, but those can be turned off, or an exhaust fan connected to it instead.

Once the unit is powered by a molex your fine just using one header.

I'd also recommend a fan controller.Lamptron are a good brand for cheaper models and are able to control 2-3 fans per channel.

My bad for not checking that link. Yes you are correct.

Rather then creating a new thread I'm just gonna ask here, can anyone suggest me a nice monitor for around €150 ? It will be used for gaming and browsing . I was purchasing the LG 23EA63V but everywhere I have looked don't have stock and Amazon are quoting me 1-2 months for delivery!

Anyone help me out suggesting another one or is that approx. the best for the price ? 23 inch preferrably

Give a look on komplett, bit over budget but still a great monitor:

    Dell UltraSharp U2312HM - 23" for €185

Or if you want to go LG:

    LG Flatron IPS231P-BN - 23" for €175

They're not the cheapest, but have an option to collect if you are near Dublin, and have a good few monitors in stock.

SPCR did a 140mm fan round-up this year; part 1 & part 2. Phanteks seem to be a popular choice. Their new models were well received on a few review sites, but I can't remember if they were PWM or not.

I got a cat 6a cable to maximise my net speed. It sorted the problem anyway. Phat speeds now.

HWVS are stocking the deep silence 4 matx case now. Looks good and I'm in the market for a new silenced case. Would prefer matx but the lack of fan options on the ds4 is a little off putting.

They also stock windowed versions of the ds1 and ds2 now as well. They should have the ds5 and ds6 full tower cases in stock soon as well.

Here's a ds6 with quad 680's and some fat rads.

I got one of those last week for €144. It's a great monitor. Took 5 days to deliver but the price is gone up to €155 and delivery estimate to 1-2 months :(

What about the 24"? It doesn't have the same thin bezel but the panels are the same afaik.

Hey guys!! Last week i picked up that generique 7950 from pixmania and received the Sapphire Dual-X. I installed it and the drivers then started up fallout 3. Straight away i started getting insane artifacting. Then after a short while it crashed and when i rebooted the pc black screens after the "Starting Windows" screen. I transferred it into my main pc today and the exact same thing happened. Both Pc's are perfectly fine without it. So i assume the Gpu is dead? Does this mean i have to deal with Pixmania and their Nightmarish returns?? Any help would be really appreciated!! Thanks.

Oh my lord. That is the epitome of hardware p0rn. F'cking want.

Are they all pumps around the back? Really need 4? Those water connects look 10x better than tubes. Time to win the lotto and then ask your man to build me one.

What cards/drivers were in the pc's before you upgraded? I assume you properly removed all old drivers before installing the newest ones?

Could be just a dud though. Unlucky :(

No card and a fresh windows install on the first pc. I done another fresh install this morning on that pc too. Did have nvdia drivers on the second pc but i uninstalled them before installing the 7950 drivers. Didn't bother with another fresh install due to the problem being the exact same on both pc's!

You wouldn't believe the bad luck. Last month i bought a 660 ti off ebay for the same pc and got sent a 660. Took a month to get refunded then this!! Poor pc just isn't meant to be.

Is it pixmania i have to contact or Sapphire themselves? Thanks again.

I'd imagine all the right angles make them necessary. Complete guess though.

Wait, so you did or did not have the correct drivers installed?

Pixmania should have you covered. It's their responsibility if the item arrived defective.

Sorry that was pretty unclear!! There were no graphics drivers installed to start off with. It was a fresh windows install. Then i installed the latest 7950 drivers. I tried older drivers and the ones from the cd too.

Sweet! icon9.png Thanks Bloodbath!! Guess the pc will have to wait another while.

That's a shame. Pixmania have really improved for returns lately though.

I see the 9370 is only a few quid more than the 8350 now. I doubt with Evo 212 would even be able to handle it.

Looking to upgrade some of my specs over Christmas.

Going to get an SSD which I have picked but my motherboard is currently AM3+ and I'm using a 965 BE edition on it, is it worth upgrading to an 8350? Also I'm running an XFX 6870 as my GPU and want to change it also, can only really upgrade one, which should I go for?
